I know this type of thread has probably been done to death, but someone on fb shared a daily fail link yesterday about the creepy things children sometimes say. It got me thinking about strange goings on.

My eldest dd at about the age of 2 was sat playing in her room while I was putting washing away in my room. She suddenly started screaming so I ran in thinking she had hurt herself and she was wide eyed with fear. I asked her what was wrong and she said while pointing I should add " there's a man with black eyes and a hat holding a baby" Confused

I've never walked out of a room so quickly ( backwards I should add so I didn't have to see the man) my cat also used to refuse to enter that room at all. Lots of other little things when she was pre school age.

For myself I kept smelling "death" I work in a hospital environment and do believe death or pre death to be more specific has a certain smell.
I was still living at home and for about a week everytime I walked in the front door I could smell death. Hmm
I still remember DM face everytime I announced it. Ha.
Towards the end of the week the smell was so strong. That evening I had a dream that I was in bed fast asleep and the whole house started to shake. I got up and looked out or the window to see an aeroplane about 12 feet away with people screaming at the window getting closer towards a block of flats ( there are no flats nearby)
The next day was September 11th.
I remember watching the news and thinking FUCKING hell. The dream.
Weirdly enough after that happened the smell of death went too. It still weirds me out when I think about it.
I also dreamt about the London/Birmingham riots a few years nack 2 days before they kicked off.

Do you have any odd stories to share?

Okay, I'm reading a Stephen King book. Not only is my real name in it, but my birth date (not year,) is in it too!

alfieandannie · 14/02/2018 21:10

I was 18, (still lived with my parents then) and I felt a bit odd all evening, like someone was watching me and following me around.
Anyway, I was in bed and being 18 wide awake texting my friends and I felt the weight of someone sit on my legs. I put it to the back of my mind.

3 hours later, my lights flickered and I heard something being thrown and stood at the end of my bed was a white smog human shaped figure.
It must have been there 3 seconds but I can still see it now. Like white smoke but in the shape of a person.

The next day I found what had been thrown, it was a small glass painted trinket box my mum had brought in a charity shop. The opposite side of the room to where it usually sat and in pieces.

3 weeks later similar happened again, it felt like someone was sitting on my bed and bouncing on the end. 4 weeks later on Easter day my nana died and nothing like that happened again while I was there. But I still felt someone watching and listening.

My mum told me not to tell anyone so I never did.

My little sister who is now 16 sleeps in there currently, and last year rang my hysterically crying because the same thing happened to her. She never knew of my experience.

I'll never ever forget that figure at the end of my bed. It makes my heart thump. It was there plain as the nose on my face.

Not really woo in the end but just this week my four years old freaked me right out!

I awoke to a noise about 5.30am and found her at the bottom of the stairs (we have just moved into a new house with steep stairs and no handrail yet!) so I quickly called her and asked her what she was doing.
She sleepily came back to me and said "I was just looking for nanny" (PILs had stayed over the week before and slept on the guest bed downstairs). I put her to bed without another thought. In the morning I reminded her with a chuckle and asked her why she was looking for nanny and she earnestly said "she was at the end of my bed, I followed her downstairs". Then I freaked out! Woke PILs up with a cheery early morning call to check they were both ok!!! (They were!).

When I was having ds2 I was really crying at one point because it was so painful. I had a really vivid memory from when I was younger and I was sobbing on my grandmas's sofa in pain and she was holding me with such love. My grandma had passed away that year and I strongly feel that was her way of being with me that night.

My mum was looking after ds1 while I was in labour. Couldn't get into my house because instead of picking up my house key, she'd brought my grandma's house key. She also thinks it was my grandma letting her know she was with us.

Someone needs to take one for the team and go trawling round graveyards and haunted houses for some more stories. Get the Ouija board out!

Shotgun not it...

Schlimbesserung · 15/02/2018 21:14

I've got one more. It happened shortly after I moved in with the current Mr Besserung. We were clearing out the attic and MrB went off to get something (bin liners or summat). So I opened a suitcase and started looking thorugh some stuff which had belonged to MrB's late aunt. I clearly heard the sound of someone tutting, right behind me. I turned round and there was nobody there.
After that, MrB gave me a watch and a diamond ring which he had inherited from his aunt. They were gold and platinum, but I couldn't wear them for long because they burned my skin. When I was alone in the house I'd hear someone calling my name. Things would disappear and then reappear somewhere silly, like cigarettes hidden in a fold in the blind. There would be sounds from the attic, as if boxes were being moved around. The dog would stare at a spot behind me and growl sometimes (all of these things happened a lot more when MrB was out at work).
One day, MrB was out with and I went from the living room to the kitchen and when I reached out my hand to open the kitchen door, in front of me I saw what I think was a black veil, just hanging in mid-air. I jumped and pulled my hand back and it disappeared. I went into the kitchen and the dog was just staring at the door and snarling. He stayed right by me until MrB came back.
I told a friend about all of this and he told me to get rid of anything belonging to the aunt. I gave the watch to my SIL but kept the diamond ring, although I don't wear it. Anyway, it was enough to make most of it stop. I've still seen someone standing behind me when I turn around quickly (and once behind me in a mirror) but that wasn't the aunt, it was someone else. Things still go missing and turn up in silly places or in exactly the place I looked for them first, but the house feels calm and contented now and not hostile towards me like it was back then.
I've just remembered one last story (we call it The Other One) but I need to pee so that will have to wait!

My exp's df unfortunately comitted suicide when exp was very very young. When my ds1 was a a toddler we had no contact with exp (wont go into it but was for good reason and is sorted now and very happy) we were living with my dm in my old bedroom. One night i woke up and could clearly see a black figure sat at the bottom of ds's bed looking at him over its shoulder iyswim. I kept blinking my eyes thinking i must be seeing things. I wasnt scared at all so got up out of bed and walked to the light switch to see if it was just a shadow. The switch was at the end of ds bed so i was inches away from this thing and it was perfectly 3d as if an actual person painted black was sitting there. I switched the light on and it was gone so i thought is must be some sort of shadow. Turned the light back off and still gone ! I slept with the door open after that. I believe that my exps df came to visit ds that night and thats why i wasnt scared just a bit oh crap i can see something Shock . My exp and ds are the double of ex dfil and ds is the eldest grandson on his exps side.

I have so many experiences i could share and most are in that bloody house there was a nasty woman in my old bedroom but ill tell that another time .

Dreamcatcher2 · 15/02/2018 21:41

We lived in a very very old house for some time which I never liked. I never saw anything, but my DD said there was a place on the landing where her bedroom was that she didn't like, and it freaked her out. In another bedroom, there was a cupboard which was used to hang clothes. My OH slept there sometimes where I kicked him out for snoring. He told me quite matter of factly that there was an old woman spinning in the corner, where the cupboard was. It turns out one of the previous people who lived there had brought his elderly mother to live with him, and she used to spin. She was from the Highlands. The house had been chopped around, so the cupboard used to be part of the bedroom.

tafftum · 15/02/2018 21:49

Remembered one!!
I stayed in my friends aunt's house one night when we were both younger. Her aunt told me a story about the house; I'm recalling this from memory so some bits might not make much sense.

Her aunt moved into the house and had her brother help her put stuff up into the attic. Nothing unusual, everything was put up nothing out of the ordinary. A month later she needed to get some things down from the attic and she went up there and saw on the wall of attic, in big red writing "Glynn" which was the name of her other brother who died years before in a really bad car crash in which he was the passenger. She was a bit freaked out but assumed it had been there previously and had just never noticed it (she said she thought maybe one of the kids who lived in the house before her was called Glynn and wrote his name in the attic). She checked over all of the walls just to make sure that was the only thing wrote on the wall. She mentioned the sighting to her sister who came around a few days later and they both went back upstairs, and on the wall opposite it was written again. She said she never went up their again because it freaked her out so much. The entrance to the attic was in the room me and my friend stayed in that night, safe to say I didn't sleep at all and never stayed again after thatBlushConfused

Dreamcatcher2 · 15/02/2018 21:50

He slept in the bedroom, not the cupboard!

Dreamcatcher2 · 15/02/2018 21:53

Also, one night my OH was alone in the house. He heard footsteps going back and forth on the floor above. That floor was not inhabited at the time, so he was freaked out. He listened to the footsteps for a while, then went up there to investigate. At the end of the corridor, he was about to open the door to the furthest bedroom, but suddenly felt a sense of dread. He felt if he opened the door he would find something horrible, so he didn't. He went back downstairs. He swears this is true.

tafftum · 15/02/2018 21:54

@Dreamcatcher2 "He slept in the bedroom, not the cupboard!" 😂😂

expatinscotland · 15/02/2018 21:57

I keep getting the knocking dream and I don't like it!

happinessischocolate · 15/02/2018 22:12

Dreamcatcher when you say she was spinning do you mean rotating on the spot or doing exercise bike spin class 😂

I am part of the people who can predict the sex of a future baby but I have also a very strong feeling when bad things are about to happen.

A few years ago one of my friends got pregnant with her second child and posted a picture of her belly on social media, the second I saw the picture I had that massive sinking feeling and thought " Oh no, this baby is never going to make it alive!" I felt absolutely rotten thinking such a thing about my friend's pregnancy and this innocent child but a month later she unfortunately miscaried. She got pregnant not too long after and posted about it again and this time I was genuinely happy because I "knew" this little girl would be fine and indeed she was a girl and is perfectly fine.

This type of things has happened a couple of times and I absolutely hate it. I know I don't provoke it but I sometimes wonder if "by thinking about it" I am not indirectly making it happen (though it's silly!)

I know my mom and my aunt had something spooky about them as well as my grandparents once took them as kids to a very remote place far from where my family is from and where nobody in the family had ever been before, yet my mom and aunt knew the place like the back of their hand and happily chatted about "those times they came here to play", they both remember it and say they can't explain it they just strongly believed they had been there to play before even though my grandparents were/are adamant that had never happened and it was the first time they were there.

Something weird also happens when someone I know die, I feel their presence all the way up until the funeral the night after the funeral I ALWAYS have the same dream. Me and them in a dark room talking, them giving me their last recommendation and telling me everything is going to be fine. After that I feel a sense of "peace" and never feels their presence again (not that they leave my thoughts but just that I don't "feel them there")

The creepiest thing though happened recently, I was started to wake up and entered this state of " sleep paralysis" and felt someone on my bed next to me, a woman and she was screaming my name, and laughing at me and I could feel her breath in my neck and I was absolutely terrified but could not move, maybe it was just a dream but it felt soo freaking real it seriously terrified me (just thinking about it right now gives me the chills to be honest).

I regret reading this thread as I don't think I will be able to sleep now!

Dreamcatcher2 · 15/02/2018 22:25

Another one. My in laws lived in a house they had had built for them. It was built over the site of a tunnel which ran from a ruined caste nearby. There had been an illicit still for making alcohol in this tunnel under their house. They used to hear someone coughing at night under the house, the ghost of the old man who used to make the alcohol. This went on for years until they stopped hearing it .

tafftum · 15/02/2018 22:29

@happinessischocolate Actually laughed out loud at the thought of a ghost just rotating in the corner of the room continuously 😂😂😂😂

Dreamcatcher2 · 15/02/2018 22:32

Ha ha!! That is funny. I wrote it all in too much of a rush !
