I know this type of thread has probably been done to death, but someone on fb shared a daily fail link yesterday about the creepy things children sometimes say. It got me thinking about strange goings on.

My eldest dd at about the age of 2 was sat playing in her room while I was putting washing away in my room. She suddenly started screaming so I ran in thinking she had hurt herself and she was wide eyed with fear. I asked her what was wrong and she said while pointing I should add " there's a man with black eyes and a hat holding a baby" Confused

I've never walked out of a room so quickly ( backwards I should add so I didn't have to see the man) my cat also used to refuse to enter that room at all. Lots of other little things when she was pre school age.

For myself I kept smelling "death" I work in a hospital environment and do believe death or pre death to be more specific has a certain smell.
I was still living at home and for about a week everytime I walked in the front door I could smell death. Hmm
I still remember DM face everytime I announced it. Ha.
Towards the end of the week the smell was so strong. That evening I had a dream that I was in bed fast asleep and the whole house started to shake. I got up and looked out or the window to see an aeroplane about 12 feet away with people screaming at the window getting closer towards a block of flats ( there are no flats nearby)
The next day was September 11th.
I remember watching the news and thinking FUCKING hell. The dream.
Weirdly enough after that happened the smell of death went too. It still weirds me out when I think about it.
I also dreamt about the London/Birmingham riots a few years nack 2 days before they kicked off.

Do you have any odd stories to share?

I went to a psychic a few months after my parents died. I was careful to try to not give information away but she stopped halfway through and said that she was confused but she was getting a man talking about door handles - to just put the bloody handles on!

I had had some gorgeous reclaimed doors fitted to the built in wardrobes in the master bedroom of my new house. I had bought handles for them but the tradesman was taking his own sweet time about fitting them. I told him what I had been told (we were reasonably friendly regardless of work at the time) from what sounded remarkably like my father. He fitted the handles that day and said that he'd never been nagged by a ghost before Grin

Redboxonwheels this exact thing happened to me just a few weeks ago.

I have an answerphone on my landline. Got home to a voicemail from my mum (it says the number that called first)...except it wasn't her, it was a minute of two random women chatting about a dentist visit.

Really weird...my mum said she had called me but hung up when the answerphone kicked in. I think it must have been some weird crossed line thing.

Probably the same with your dh except he called you accidentally.

I love these threads and would love to believe in people being reborn. I saw my DB's body after he dies in his 20's and it wasn't him IYKWIM...it was his body but he wasn't there. Very strange.

Anyway my strange happening relates to him and my youngest DS who is adopted. I have a photos of my DB taken not long before he died and I have a photo of DS taken at a similar age and they could be twins. The similarities in personality and looks are so strong some days I'd question DS's paternity but for the fact DB died some years before he was born.

Bump. Keep them coming!!

I lived in an old Victorian terrace with my ex, when we first moved in the place was a mess and v neglected. We spent a lot of time making it a home. A neighbour said an elderly man had died and loved his home. Lots of weird stuff happened but it wasn't negative so I'd like to think it was him and he was happy someone was finally taking care of the place.

One night the power went out and it was pitch black. The box with the switch thingies was high up on the wall, next to the ceiling. I was up the ladder when I dropped the torch. It was spinning and cut out. I used my phone and got the electric back on but I could not find the bloody torch. Gave up and went out the kitchen and there it was on the worktop!

Other small things like I kept finding a red nail polish on the worktop, it only stopped when I used it. I'd also be looking for something and after I'd give up if find it on the worktop.

Bump! This is my favourite thread!

My eldest son was army mad from being very young. He would tell everyone he was a soldier in the second world war and that he got shot and died when he was 19. One day while on a bus with my sister, he shouted,'look'!, 'there's my mates!'. My sis said he was so adamant that his old army mates were marching along the pavement, that people on the bus were looking too. My sis said he was banging on the window and waving to them, but no one could see them.
He was about 4 at the time. Soon after this, he told me that one of his mates used to come through his bedroom window to see him.
He said his mate was Russian and he was also shot and killed at 19.
I asked, 'does your friend still come and see you'?
He replied, 'no. He brought his mum, dad and sister with him and they all had bad teeth and frightened him, so he told him not to come any more'. Then they left through the cupboard.

My youngest son had piercing blue eyes. I would sometimes think that I could see right inside of them.
One day, while in a swimming pool on holiday, a woman waded through the water and approached me saying, your son needs a blue stone around his neck because evil can see right into his soul.
I dismissed it and never thought anymore of it. He was a year old at the time.
Fast forward 3 or 4 years.
We had a surround sound speaker system. Every now and again, we could hear talking and crackling coming from the speakers and put it down to taxi radios interfering with the frequencies.
One day I'd unplugged all the speakers, so nothing was connected or plugged in.
Then a mans voice started saying my sons name over and over again. It was crystal clear and it was coming from the speakers!
I threw them in the rubbish bin.
I remembered about the blue stone and went and bought my son a piece of blue glass jewellery to wear around his neck.
Shortly after this, I was in the kitchen cooking. A mans voice said my sons name from behind me. I nearly jumped out of my skin. I turned around expecting to see my husband but there was no one there.
As I turned back to the cooker, this god awful voice groaned right in my ear and I could feel the breath on my skin and feel the presence of something big standing next to me. I was actually rooted to the spot with fear.
I do believe that there was something evil trying to latch on to my son and that the blue pendant warded it off, as we haven't heard his name being called since.

HonkyWonkWoman · 13/02/2018 14:09

Nobodyschild The evil thing whispering in your ear actually made me get goosebumps.
Pleased all ok for you now! Smile

M00nUnit · 13/02/2018 14:26

I had a friend who had a miscarriage about 7 or 8 years ago (surprise pregnancy but very much wanted baby), shortly before she and her partner moved to Africa. We stayed in touch for the first year or so but I haven’t really heard from her for the last few years and she rarely posts on Facebook.

For some reason I suddenly started thinking about her on Sunday and wondering whether her and her partner would ever have another baby. Then a few hours later I opened up Facebook and the first thing I saw was a post from her with a picture of a gorgeous baby boy that she’d given birth to that morning! MASSIVE coincidence (or maybe I’m a bit psychic…).

Worldsworstcook · 13/02/2018 16:32

I was at a traffic light without my seat belt in 1992. It was around 1.30 am and I had friends in the car - When the light went red I got a very strong urge to put my seat belt on and while battling with the seat belt the light turned to green and then back to red and I missed the light. 15 mins later I'd dropped everyone off home and going round a roundabout was clipped on the very back corner by a drunk driver. My car rolled 5 times and ended up on the roof. If I hadn't have listened to that voice telling me to put my belt on i'd've been dead. The car was totalled - it was my now DHs car and when the hospital phoned him to come, he got a taxi. The taxi driver said he'd just witnessed a wild accident and he'd be completely amazed if anyone got out alive. Well he was amazed and I never go anywhere without my seatbelt.

Boatsonthewater · 13/02/2018 17:20

Just thought of another one. My husband's niece who we aren't very close to , was expecting a baby . I have always been very fond of her and was thinking about her a lot. Three weeks before she was due, we were on holiday. I kept thinking about a cat I had many years before who was called Oscar. No idea why. When we got home, we discovered she had had her baby three weeks early, and he was called Oscar! I seem to have a sixth sense about pregnancy, like others on this thread too.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 13/02/2018 20:30

Worldsworst: but if you hadn’t sat through the green light while putting your seat belt on, you would probably have not been clipped by the drunk driver on the roundabout!

Mind you, if you HAD gone at green without putting your seatbelt on, he may have missed you at the roundabout but caught up with you further on with your seatbelt off.

GraveorExtension · 13/02/2018 22:21

Only halfway through this thread, gripped in the midst of one intense post.......

SNAP! Thread link broke Shock

Made me jump! Might have to return for remainder in daylight Grin

MrsStinkey · 14/02/2018 08:08

@GraveorExtension that just happened to me as well. The message "oh snap" and that the thread had broken.

GraveorExtension · 14/02/2018 12:14

@MrsStinkey Grin Just checking you're ok?! Did this happen to you when you were alone in the dark and the house was doing that creepy creaking and groaning around you? Confused

Logically, I know this often happens when the heating has gone off and the house is adjusting/cooling down, but it adds to my darkness hypervigilance and that SNAP made me shut the thread Grin

GraveorExtension · 14/02/2018 12:20

So pleased the @ function is working again. I left MN for a while when it kept failing as I couldn't follow or finish discussions.

So, thank you @Menarefrommarsitwouldseem for this thread -it's been most entertaining- and thank you @MNHQ for sorting out that headache! Star

Nothing too woo from me except some years ago I stayed with my mum to visit (My one visit home in five years because I lived on another continent without the freedom to fly home whenever). While there I kept getting the feeling of someone behind me or near me. It wasn't scary but weird.
One night I had a very vivid dream. I was with my late grandad. He was never a demonstrative or affectionate man and I saw him rarely as a kid. I'm told my younger sis was his favourite grandchild. In the dream I told him that I was a bit sad he had a favourite (or perhaps more to the point, that his favourite was not me, I'll be honest) and he said nothing, just put his arms around me and gave me a warm, loving, reassuring hug. As if to say. Maybe she is my favourite but i love you too. This is something he would NEVER have done in life. Not characteristic at all. But hey it's a dream, right?

I spoke to my sister many years after that and spoke of the presence I felt. She shrugged and told me 'probably grandad, dad's dad. He visited often.' (Not in life. He'd died years before mum moved there). So that makes me wonder whether it was just a dream.

When it came time to leave the house to catch my flight home I could not find my watch. I looked everywhere, even took the mattress off the bed to see if it had fallen underneath or between bed and wall. Nope. Went to leave the house but just before closing the front door I went back upstairs to the spare room to look one more time and there, on the edge of the bed, in plain sight, was my watch. The same bed whose mattress I had lifted. WTF.

So I don't know for sure it was my grandad who visited me in my dream. I don't usually dream of people I know and have never dreamed of him before or since. I just thought it odd that my sister suspected the unobtrusive presence was him and is had that dream.

dustarr73 · 14/02/2018 16:13

I had the weirdest dream the other night. My mam and uncle came to see me[they are both passed]

And i had a baby wiht me,i thought it was my youngest. But i have just found out my sons gf is pregnant.Im really freaked out.

Dizzylin · 14/02/2018 18:47

The past 3 jobs I've had, I've known as soon as I've entered the building that I'd get the job.

For years when going through a major junction I've had a strong pull to one of the roads, we were looking for a new house and I happened to notice a new housing estate when driving near the junction. We went to have a look and found our perfect home. You have to go down the road I've always had a pull to, to get to the house.

My DS described, in detail, the Great Fire of London - she was 2.

Boatsonthewater · 14/02/2018 19:27

Oh Dizzy, I woud love to know what your daughter said about the Fire of london!

Dizzylin · 14/02/2018 19:30

@boatsonthewater it was my Dsis. Quite a few years ago, can't remember exactly what she said but I remember her saying the wrong person took the blame and it was a bad man. I'll ask my DM.

judgejudyandexecutioner · 14/02/2018 19:35

I was at my sisters flat sat in a chair. I hate having my photo taken. My sister knows this and made a big deal out of taking my photo. I just gave her "the look" the same look I now give my kids when they misbehave and just said, "Don't!"

Anyhow she took the photo and freaked out completely as the photo showed just my empty chair...

This is true....

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 14/02/2018 20:24

One from DH. DD and I were in the park when she was 2.5, she tripped and fell face first into a muddy puddle, covered in mud from head to toe. DH said he just saw "mud and shit" in his mind's eye from the time we would have been at the top of our road coming home. He was laughing before he opened the door! 😂

My eldest son said to me tonight, 'you weren't always my mummy, I know your my mummy Sophie but last time I had a mummy Nora' no idea what he's talking about.

He also used to have an imaginary friend called Michael. He used to talk to him in bed, nothing sinister but we'd hear him laughing, and saying 'Ok Michael' we just assumed it was one of those things however around 6 months later, we went to my dead great grandmas house for a holiday (in Ireland, she left it to me in her will). He walked into her room, and said 'this is where Michael used to sleep you know, right there with Annie'

Annie was my great nana who I adored, Michael was my great grandad although he died many years before I was born.
