To ban phones and other technology from my coffee shop?

I actually don't HAVE a coffee shop or any other business but I just wondered - hypothetically speaking, if it was a great place, with fabulous coffee and cakes etc. would you still go if NO technology at all was allowed to be used in there?

No
Each to their own, though.

ElenaBothari · 01/02/2018 17:36

Nope.

Unless your name is Luke and your cafe is in Stars Hollow.

becotide · 01/02/2018 17:36

No.

I don't live in the 1950s and have no desire to return there. I'm an adult woman, not a 7 year old child who needs their tech managing

flimp · 01/02/2018 17:37

no chance

MissMary0fSweden · 01/02/2018 17:37

Nope.

kaytee87 · 01/02/2018 17:37

No, usually if I'm in a coffee shop it's to get an hours peace and I'll read on my phone or kindle.

It's not great to treat hypothetical customers like children Wink

OhBergine · 01/02/2018 17:37

No thanks.

Slightlyperturbedowlagain · 01/02/2018 17:39

No. Sometimes I want to spend 5 minutes enjoying using my phone while I drink my coffee. I guess I remember only too well the well-thumbed and manky newspapers you used to get in Starbucks back in 2002 before mobile data was really a ‘thing’ Grin

peachypetite · 01/02/2018 17:40

No

Nope.

Ban children instead Grin

gamerchick · 01/02/2018 17:41

Nope. If I’m sitting somewhere on my tod having a sit down why should I not use my phone?

Is there a particular reason you want that?

KatyMac · 01/02/2018 17:42

Where I used to work had this up....

To ban phones and other technology from my coffee shop?
RatOnnaStick · 01/02/2018 17:42

No chance, sorry. If I'm on my own being buried in my phone is a blissful 20 minutes refuge from the day.

Tipsntoes · 01/02/2018 17:42

I kind of like the idea but the reality is if I'm with friends I won't get the phone out anyway and if I'm not, then I'll use my "break" to check FB or the news.

FetchezLaVache · 01/02/2018 17:43

No, because even though I am reasonably old school and would rather read a book than eg a Kindle, I might still wish to check my email or text my friend to ask her if she was on her way. Plus, I'd be put off by the judgmentalism.

EggsonHeads · 01/02/2018 17:45

Not really. I usually go to coffee shops to work/stopping sonewhere to kill sone time (usually by reading the news on my phone apps/sending off emails). If I was going to get coffee with someone it wouldn't be a problem but that only accounts for about 5% of my coffe shop trips.

Eolian · 01/02/2018 17:45

Yes. I'm as addicted to my phone as the next person when I'm at home or stuck somewhere with nothing to do. But if I'm out somewhere nice, either alone or with company, I'd happily be without devices. I'd people-watch, enjoy my drink and soak up the atmosphere. I'm afraid I may be one of your few customers though.

AlexanderHamilton · 01/02/2018 17:45

No, because I tend to use coffee shops when waiting for my children & I need to be contactable by them.

RaininSummer · 01/02/2018 17:45

No. Would get bored if on my own.

FayJay · 01/02/2018 17:46

Nope. I don’t need a coffee shop to police my tech thanks.

specialsubject · 01/02/2018 17:47

A wi fi blocker would still allow texts or calls through, and would stop the phone gazing. People might chat to each other. And yes, provide newspapers .

falang · 01/02/2018 17:47

Yes. I think it would be a great idea. Especially if there were newspapers and magazines available to read.

2018SoFarSoGreat · 01/02/2018 17:48

I would if it was only a ban on phone calls inside the store. That would be lovely.

Topseyt · 01/02/2018 17:49

Nope. I would pass your coffee shop by with a nod and go somewhere else.

I'm usually by myself if I go into a coffee shop so I see no problem browsing on my phone. I am after peace to do what I want, not to be dictated to about what I can and can't have at the table.
