3 isn't many is it?

Here's mine

Jill Tyrell-Nighty Night
David Brent even though he annoys me so much
Basil Fawlty

Now people will come along with theirs and I'll think I've chosen the wrong ones!

I love Mrs Warboys, my favourite is when they are stuck in a traffic jam and she appears half way through the episode with the wrong flavoured crisps 😂 'victor meldrew, victor meldrew, he can shove it up his bum, he can bugger off til kingdom come Grin

TammySwansonTwo · 02/02/2018 11:08

I can't choose - they're probably all from Arrested Development to be honest.
Although Ron Swanson is brilliant, as it Tammy II (obviously)

ShatnersWig · 02/02/2018 12:22

Heart That would be one of the two episodes I would vote as among the best writing ever. Genius. As was the entire episode that was just Victor in the house on his own.

I loved the fact that as well as being very surreal at times, it could also be dark, sad, moving and thought provoking. For all that he could be a cantankerous old bugger, they clearly adored each other and he could also be incredibly kind and a lot of those who got his wrath deserved it and we cheered him on. I remember the episode where he and Mrs W got their feet stuck in cement and once freed he went to an old folks home to use a phone and discovered the residents being abused by the staff. So he drugged the staff, stuck them up as scarecrows, freed the residents and phoned the Police anonymously. Great writing and great acting, which is why we were all sad when Victor died and we were never sure whether Margaret poisoned Hannah Gordon or not....

Ron Swanson - Parks and Rec
Niles Crane - Frasier
Barbara Royle - Royle Family

But then there's Mrs Doyle, Beverley Goldberg, Chandler Bing, Marie Barone, David Brent, Uncle Bryn, Nessa, Karen Walker, Kath Day-Knight, Kim Craig, Cam Tucker, Roseanne

I love sitcoms.

morningconstitutional2017 · 02/02/2018 12:40

Hard to give just three, but here we go:
Rigsby in Rising Damp
Del boy in OFAH
Barbara in The Good Life.

ThereWasABaboon · 02/02/2018 12:44

Basil Fawlty

Barry Mainwaring (Arthur Lowe also playing the part of Captain Mainwaring's drunken brother who kept referring to him as Poface)

Chandler Bing (the funniest lines)

Marmite17 · 02/02/2018 12:58

Alan Partridge
Mr G from Summer Heights High
The policeman from Doc Martin (not really a sit com but find the character hilarious)

Tanith · 02/02/2018 13:18

Sir Humphrey Appleby (honorary mention to Bernard and Jim)

Tubbs ❤️

Norman Stanley Fletcher

SlightlyJaded · 02/02/2018 13:22

Denise Royale
Phil Dumphey
Chandler Bing

All been said already, but that's because they are all a masterclass in human portrayal.

brieislife · 02/02/2018 13:33

Rigsby from Rising Damp
Basil Fawlty from Fawlty Towers
Rimmer from Red Dwarf

Honorable mentions to Bert from The Big Bang Theory and Father Dougal from Father Ted.

DownstairsMixUp · 02/02/2018 13:51

I absolutely adore Pam and Mick as a couple in Gavin and Stacey, the characters have so much chemistry together and they just really 'work' as a couple. I could easily imagine them together outside of the show.

Barbara Royale to as with PP's reasons, they all really nailed that character.

Will from the Inbetweeners, his sarcy, dry humour is very me! He is also so awkward! Fiesty one you are!

Ickyockycocky · 02/02/2018 13:59

Tom In The Good Life, Basil Fawlty, Ria in Butterflies

womanhuman · 02/02/2018 14:06

Kath from Kath and Kim
Joy from my Name is Earl
Mitch n Cam from Modern Family. Cam spoke to me on a mumsnet web chat once so if I was forced to choose, I’d say him.

Ronnyhotdog · 02/02/2018 14:10

Alan partridge
Leon from curb
Ron Swanson from parks & recreation

Gottagetmoving · 02/02/2018 14:14

@ShatnersWig i dont think any other show could make you laugh and feel so emotional! I loved the care home episode. The one with the blind man and when victor dies both made me cry!

soupforbrains · 02/02/2018 15:02

itsbetterthanabox · 02/02/2018 16:12

How could I forget Sue White and Dr Statham from green wing!

HelenaDove · 02/02/2018 16:23

Steptoe and Son was part of my childhood because they repeated the colour episodes in the 80s.

Drama are currently repeating the black and white ones from the 1960s at 6pm on weeknights.

Kazzyhoward · 02/02/2018 19:14

Margot (Good Life)
Baldrick
Manuel (Fawlty Towers)

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 02/02/2018 20:10

Jill Tyrell - Just fabulous to watch and squirm (the second series wasn't great though)
Mark Corrigan - complex, funny, struggling
Richard Richard - as above, but different Grin
