That photo has thrown me. The baby looks to be making eye contact in it.

Birdsgottafly · 23/04/2018 13:33

For those saying the protesters, those that wanted a vigil are disgusting. How do you feel about the media circus and people camping outside of St Mary's?

JustAnotherSod · 23/04/2018 13:33

I think the media had an 'angle' for want of a better word in the Gard case, there was an experimental treatment being offered and it was the weighing up of that as an option which was the news. Sad as it is my understanding is that there is nothing being offered for Alfie at all, and the media will be mindful of the court decision that Alfie's final days should be private and dignified.

CommunistLegoBloc · 23/04/2018 13:35

He’s having a seizure. His eyes are unfocused. Movement triggers his fits, so even a cuddle will initiate one. It’s incredibly, heart-breakingly sad but the rest of the family hammering on the doors of a PICU is detracting from the child at the centre of this.

Dobbythesockelf · 23/04/2018 13:36

I think camping outside any hospital is disgusting. Whether it be in protest, in prayer or any other scenario. People in these hospitals are very sick. There are other children at Alder Hay that will be close to the end if their life. Parents who are going through the same thing. It is disrespectful to disrupt a hospital and it's patients. The behaviour makes me feel sick tbh.

trekkingintheandes · 23/04/2018 13:37

Birds don't be so silly, it's totally different outside St Mary's as well you know.

CocoaGin · 23/04/2018 13:38

Bless you, little Alfie. May your journey be a painless and peaceful one.

IronicWitttUsername · 23/04/2018 13:38

His eyes are not looking at all, it is just they are open which they can easily be during a seizure especially if touch triggers one. Of course they have selected that photo and not one of him where his eyes are shut.

BangingOn · 23/04/2018 13:38

Being cynical, the Gards were photogenic, media savvy and had a PR team advising them. Plus they were in London.

trekkingintheandes, how so, it's a working A&E, as well as a general hospital. Do they have magic wands that prevent death?

ShatnersWig · 23/04/2018 13:41

Fucking hell. Police are now having to block the main entrance to the hospital to prevent people storming it. Just seen live footage on Twitter via @CapitalWIRNews

Arrest the fucking lot of them. This is a hospital for sick and terminally ill children you fucking morons. You have NO respect for anyone in that building.

trekkingintheandes · 23/04/2018 13:42

Birds it's mostly happy little old ladies not crazy halfwits threatening to bomb the hospital, set the alarms off, steal the baby - I don't think I really need to explain the difference do I?

Ollivander84 · 23/04/2018 13:42

I've just lost any last bit of sympathy I had with TE ranting about foreigners

Buzzlightyearsbumchin · 23/04/2018 13:43

My heart aches for Alfie and his parents.

His parents are in the worst place anyone can be.

I don't blame them for fighting. I don't blame them for any part of this.

The 'army' are selfish and should put their energy towards fundraising for the hospital instead of protesting. Help lots of children instead of satisfying their own selfish thought process that bad things won't happen if you can just whip up a media frenzy or get enough people to pray for you.

I wish Alfie a peaceful passing and I hope his parents can somehow navigate their way down this shitty path of being a bereaved parent.

Burntout93 · 23/04/2018 13:43

It looks really aggresive - the staff and other children in the hospital must be terrfired .

BeakyPlinder · 23/04/2018 13:45

It is a terribly sad situation for the family and i do feel very sorry for them but even grief doesn't excuse the way they are behaving. I wish them peace to deal with the future.

I also feel for the staff at the hospital and hope they all get some support.

Burntout93 · 23/04/2018 13:45

And the video does not now show little old ladies but aggressive fit people

DeadButDelicious · 23/04/2018 13:46

Those scenes are just awful. Awful.

Ollivander, If it's the video footage I just saw, I think Tom was saying, "following us everywhere," not "foreigners."

jaseyraex · 23/04/2018 13:47

Birdsgottafly The people outside the lindo wing aren't blocking roads and shouting abuse at police and trying to storm the hospital. The people at AH are. Whilst I find it unacceptable to camp outside any hospital, at least one half of these people are doing so respectfully.

trekkingintheandes · 23/04/2018 13:47

Burntout I am talking about the people camped out at St Mary's not at AH.

MynameisJune · 23/04/2018 13:47

Admin have asked that no one goes into the hospital but I think they’ve lost control of their ‘army’ now if the videos are anything to go by.

trekkingintheandes · 23/04/2018 13:48

Haribols you poor thing, thinking of you today.
