To think Kate Middleton needs to hire a make up artist

Does she still do her own make up?

It's awful. She either needs lessons or just hire an expert.

OP posts:

No what's YOUR point Dakota?

I am just answering your question, why did you ask it in the first place?

Battleax · 01/02/2018 12:53

And of what consequence is it whether she's "beautiful" or not?

How tedious to reduce women to that.

Why do you feel entitled to pull apart somebody else's appearance anyway?

Battleax · 01/02/2018 12:55

I am just answering your question, why did you ask it in the first place?

I don't think so. I couldn't care less what your opinion of beauty is. I think it's a vacuous, intrusive topic.

Confused me with someone else?

RoseWhiteTips · 01/02/2018 12:55

My point is you haven’t the first idea. Meghan Markle, for instance, is fake and toothy; no way is she beautiful. Mary is ordinary. The other two queens are nothing special and too skinny.

Kate is beautiful and has a engaging manner. And she is sporty. Go her.

RoseWhiteTips · 01/02/2018 12:55

...an engaging

DakotaWest · 01/02/2018 12:56

Yes I did, sorry Grin

RoseWhiteTips · 01/02/2018 12:57

I asked the question although nothing is set in stone, clearly.

mimibunz · 01/02/2018 12:57

OP, there are some celebrity gossip websites that would welcome your snarky comments, but on MN you are being unkind.

noeffingidea · 01/02/2018 12:57

I think people call her Kate Middleton because that is what they are used to.I'm sure she uses her real name in her own life and doesn't care what name the public use.
As regards her make up, surely it's up to her? I probably would use a make up artist in her position, at least for public appearances, because I wouldn't have a clue about that sort of look. I think she's probably going for an image in keeping with being a member of the royal family, rather than her own personal tastes.

And more of the same 🙄

Haven't you got anything more substantial or positive to think about?

Battleax · 01/02/2018 12:58

Yes I did, sorry grin

I'm sure I'll be shot down in flames for saying this but I think Kate could do with gaining a little weight. Her head, hands and feet look too big for her body. She looks much better in this photo taken on her graduation day.

RoseWhiteTips · 01/02/2018 13:06

She is younger at her graduation, obviously. But yes, I do agree. Her current weight suits her. Amazing to think it is pregnancy weight!

JuliannaBixby · 01/02/2018 13:07

Hmm wonder what possible correlation there could be between her being super-slender now and this thread picking her appearance to pieces and reducing her down to an eyebrow shape.

Notasunnybunny · 01/02/2018 13:15

Yanbu- I felt the one thing that let her down on the wedding day was the diy make up. I don’t think she should have a glam squad following her about 24/7 but as you say, she has resources. Someone who could see her for a couple of hours every six months to help her update her look plus advise her on ways to adapt make up as you age would do no harm and a world of good. It’s difficult as we all get used to seeing ourselves a certain way and it helps to get an outsiders professional help from time to time.

doubleshotespresso · 01/02/2018 13:15

re my own make up....... irrelevant as I'm not a public figure. Not photographed a million times a day and not representing my country

Thank fuck for that OP- With the attitude and utter disregard for humanity you appear to possess we can all consider ourselves wholly blessed.

herethereandeverywhere · 01/02/2018 13:36

So Battleax and Julianna she's a public figure with a team of stylists and hairdressers and a multi-thousand pound wardrobe budget and it's the plebs on MN who are the ones reducing her to an image of which we are supposed to mind our own business?!?! I have never heard anything so absurd.

Are we campaigning to disband the S&B threads or is it only 'poor Kate' who deserves sympathy for being 'reduced' to the way she looks?

Having an opinion on someones look/style/dress sense/fashion sense/clothes/makeup does one make one anti-feminist, anti-women or pro-patriarchy. I don't judge Theresa May's performance based on her fugly kitten heels and shit-brown leather trousers just as I don't judge Corbyn's based on his charity shop beige suits and ties.

It's possible to have an negative opinion about the way a person looks without it becoming a value judgement.

Battleax · 01/02/2018 13:41

Is S&B a bitchathon?! I've never noticed that. I've only ever seen "how do I achieve...?" and "Where can I buy....?" type S&B threads.

Pulling apart women in the public, policing their adherence to a particular beauty standard and insulting their appearance doesn't seem very edifying.

JuliannaBixby · 01/02/2018 13:42

She's not a public figure because she's a model or anything: she's a woman who married a man in the public eye. Why does that mean she should always look perfect? If anything is absurd, it's that the expectation even exists.

I don't care about 'poor Kate'. If I had my way I'd abolish royalty tomorrow. I'd defend any woman being taken to pieces for her imperfections purely because she leads a life that happens to centre attention around her.

You seem to be claiming the moral high ground or something, when actually your own posts seem to suggest that we've no need to be kind about people who are richer or more privileged than ourselves. That's a horrible attitude

JuliannaBixby · 01/02/2018 13:42

Battleax no it's not a bitchathon at all, in my experience.

herethereandeverywhere · 01/02/2018 13:43

Plenty of replies telling people their choice of clothing is ugly/dated/awful on S&B - everyday. It's called honest opinion. If it didn't matter how KM looked, why all the money and effort? Purely for us to pour adulation and nothing else? Hmm

Battleax · 01/02/2018 13:47

Battleax no it's not a bitchathon at all, in my experience.

That's what I thought.

I'm not really sure what point here is making TBH.

JuliannaBixby · 01/02/2018 13:48

But it really doesn't matter. It really doesn't. People might think it does, but it doesn't. And it contributes to keeping women in their place: pretty, silent and biddable.

Battleax · 01/02/2018 13:48

it didn't matter how KM looked, why all the money and effort? Purely for us to pour adulation and nothing else?

You could just ignore her?

JuliannaBixby · 01/02/2018 13:49

I dunno either Battle ax. That people share opinions about fashion, so it's ok to tear rich women to threads because, fuck them, or something?
