A friend was telling me her partner had a go at her for putting the bath mat in the washing machine with the towels. Apparently this is really disgusting and it should be washed separately. Friend agree and said she hadn't actually put them in together he just thought she had. Aibu to not see why it's disgusting?? Maybe putting the door mat in with the clothes but can't see what wrong with the bath mat?

Baby so you you must have some very small loads. Are these all hot washes, long times?

babyccinoo · 27/01/2018 14:03

I also wash chicken before cooking it.

RestlessLegKick · 27/01/2018 14:04

Come on..... Who washes their tea towels with their underwear??? That has to be a big NO NO.

I'm not completely crazy...... Really.

StealthPolarBear · 27/01/2018 14:04

"I also wash chicken before cooking it."

Bubble bath, or just in the dishwasher?

Grin
babyccinoo · 27/01/2018 14:05

Stealth, bath mats get a 30 minute quick cycle.

However, I do use my towels for 2-3 weeks before washing.

crunchtime · 27/01/2018 14:06

i wash all the towels, bathmats, tea towels and dishcloths together.
bedding and underwear together.

shirts all together.
mens socks and boxers together[mainly because all black]

everything else together.

babyccinoo · 27/01/2018 14:06

AllMyBestFriendsAreMetalheads · 27/01/2018 14:07

See, I find that the 'quick cycles' on my washer do sod all other than make the clothes wet.

ShastaTrinity · 27/01/2018 14:07

I also wash chicken before cooking it.

You really shouldn't do that, it's a very efficient way to spread bacteria everywhere.

AllMyBestFriendsAreMetalheads · 27/01/2018 14:08

I once saw a 1000 post thread on MN about washing meat. Twas fucking crazy.

ShastaTrinity · 27/01/2018 14:09

Agree, I only use the quick cycle to wash new clothes after buying them, or rinsing laundry.

StealthPolarBear · 27/01/2018 14:09

Was it the famous "rinse your mince" one

Kentnurse2015 · 27/01/2018 14:09

I literally don’t have the time or the energy to worry about such things!

babyccinoo · 27/01/2018 14:10

Shasta

So I've read on MN! I do wash sink and counter areas carefully afterwards.

YerAuntFanny · 27/01/2018 14:12

Christ, I feel organised if I sort the darks from lights... Everything in together here, none of us have had anything nasty or died as a result yet!

babyccinoo · 27/01/2018 14:12

I do rinse mince! I keep it balled in my hands and just sluice the water over it.

StealthPolarBear · 27/01/2018 14:12

And what do those cloths get washed with

Twooter · 27/01/2018 14:13

You shouldn’t wash chicken before cooking - it just splashed the bacteria around the kitchen.

I just do a dark wash and a white wash. Seem to have a healthy enough family

babyccinoo · 27/01/2018 14:14

The sponges are washed with washing up liquid.

Eolian · 27/01/2018 14:14

People are so ridiculous about this sort of thing (well, on MN anyway). Washing things makes them clean. That's kind of the whole point. So if you put two things in the washing machine and one of them is dirtier than the other, the dirtier one doesn't make the other one dirty... they in fact both get cleaned. Who knew?!

StealthPolarBear · 27/01/2018 14:15

So you reuse the chickeny sponges?
Not having a go, I'm vegi and the rules around raw meat terrify me.

babyccinoo · 27/01/2018 14:18

No worries Stealth. I do reuse them. I'm never ill and neither are my family who do the same.

If I was ill, I would re-assess.
