To ask what random things your DC have decided they’re scared of

My 8 month old DS has today decided he’s terrified when I yawn- he’s been fine with it for the last 8 months but now it’s terrfiying to him! Now every time I yawn he whips around to look accusingly at me and I have to pretend I’m doing something else.

Anyone else have any other DC that are afraid of something new/random?

My 2 year old screams when she sees black fish. She thinks they are sharks......thanks ‘Shark in the Park’ book!

Camomila · 24/01/2018 22:19

Aww at the little girl scared of the moon.

DS went through a phase of being scared of grass, the hoover, and public toilets. Atm he doesn't seem scared of anything....I was thinking this afternoon that some episodes of fireman sam are quite scary but I guess he's still to little to understand (he's 21m)

Mandraki · 25/01/2018 07:04

My 4 month old is the most placid and unbothered baby, nothing seems to scare her. Except occasionally she’ll forget I’m holding her and will look away only to jump out of her skin when she looks back and sees me (or her dad). It’s so funny!

Sherwil16 · 25/01/2018 07:15

Hand driers in public toilets used to send my 3year old n screaming and running for the exit.

AuntieJuice · 25/01/2018 07:51

I don't have kids but I used to be terrified of the robot episode of Fireman Sam and that show called 'Stop It and Tidy Up' with Terry Wogan narrating... Blush

restofthetimes · 25/01/2018 07:52

Dd was scared of her curtains. They were William Morris design with roses and thorns, I thought they were quite sleeping beauty.

k2p2k2tog · 25/01/2018 07:56

Hand dryers in public loos. Absolutely petrified when he was about 18 months to 3. He's grown out of it now... but he's almost 15.

llangennith · 25/01/2018 08:00

DGD was terrified of Spooky Spoon. From Alpha blocks I think. It was just a wooden spoon!

WellThatsATurnipForTheBooks · 25/01/2018 08:10

DD went through a phase of being scared of men with beards and also people with crash helmets on.

My bearded, motorbike riding brother wasn't very popular for a while

Smarmydrippings · 25/01/2018 08:34

Snowmen.
My DS was 3 when we had a heavy snow fall. I found him sitting on the stairs breaking his heart. He didn't want to build a snowman because he didn't want to fly away from you Mummy.

goodomens830 · 25/01/2018 10:13

My daughter is 7 now and is STILL scared of the blue screen after cbeebies finishes for the night. No clue why.

goodomens830 · 25/01/2018 10:16

Oh I forgot, my daughter is also terrified of the Gummy Bear song

LaurieMarlow · 25/01/2018 10:17

Another one afraid of hand dryers here. Even when they're not actually on.

Minecraftfan · 27/01/2018 17:32

My DS2 7 hates swarking rubber chickens and he has done since he was 18 months old

FridgeCut · 27/01/2018 17:34

My two year old is terrified of a harry styles doll. I have never seen him so petrified as when he saw it for the first time. We have to hide it under a pillow.

KTD27 · 27/01/2018 17:36

Nearly two year old is terrified of the ‘sea cow’ from Sarah and duck. There are two episodes with it in and he can identify them within seconds. Proper shaking and tears.
Also blue planet.
So maybe it’s all fish and marine life related 😀

ApartmentPants · 27/01/2018 17:36

My DD is 4 and terrified of the song ‘Electric Dreams’. The original and any covers I do, she has a full on can’t breathe meltdown. Ive switched the key up and down but nope. I’ve tried whispering the words and she even hates that. Ive sung the wrong words to the right tune and the right words to the wrong tune. It fascinates me where the bad association comes from. She’s very severely disabled and doesn’t seem to understand very much of the world, but my god she knows that song!

TestingmyPatience · 27/01/2018 17:44

When ds1 was tiny he was petrified of his own fart and he farted A LOT! with a tremendous sound each time. Whenever he farted he would whizz round scared at the sound and scream and scream the house down, he was inconsolable. I'd be muttering to him, 'its alright, its alright, its coming from your bum' Hmm. There was nothing I could do to stop it.

user1473337123 · 27/01/2018 17:45

My son was always scared of hand dryers. He's 10 now and can handle them. My twins are petrified of buttons and refuse to wear anything with buttons on. We've had some lovely outfits given to them over the years but they will NOT even entertain the idea. Only 3 more years to try and get them out of this before they go to secondary school and blouses are compulsory!!

salsah · 27/01/2018 17:51

Dyson hand dryers in public toilets

Sidge · 27/01/2018 18:04

Not my children, but my friend's husband is scared of peas. He's 48.

Not scared of eating them because he doesn't like them, actually scared of them!!

AuntieJuice my DD1 (19 now) LOVED Stoppit and Tidyup! It was bonkers

Minefield1982 · 27/01/2018 18:24

My oldest who is now 14 was scared of yellow balloons , not any other colour just yellow ones 😂 , and my youngest who is 1 is afraid of the Lloyds bank advert on tv with the black horse , she will watch it till the horse starts running along the beach and then she will scream in absolute terror till I turn it off lol 😂

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 27/01/2018 19:25

sleep snap!
Haven't read tft but DD just 3 has nightmares about 'one parrot in my cosy little bed' and we have to have reassuring chats about how parrots can't get into our house because they don't have keys. Apparently 'a parrot lives in the woods with his other scary friends' is the ultimate consolation.

I haven't asked who the friends are Confused

Ivy7550 · 27/01/2018 19:27

Nose blowing! My one year old just breaks his heart if anyone dares blow their runny nose - having a cold is now even more of a challenge GrinBlush

ThePants999 · 27/01/2018 19:28

The kitchen floor. Had a two month period of DS refusing to enter the kitchen because the floor scared him
