To ask what random things your DC have decided they’re scared of

My 8 month old DS has today decided he’s terrified when I yawn- he’s been fine with it for the last 8 months but now it’s terrfiying to him! Now every time I yawn he whips around to look accusingly at me and I have to pretend I’m doing something else.

Anyone else have any other DC that are afraid of something new/random?

The hoover.

We can't even get it out the cupboard now.

BendingSpoons · 23/01/2018 21:52

At 15m DD was scared of the suitcase, which to be fair was probably bigger than her. She also freaked out when I changed her cot sheet.

Originalfoogirl · 23/01/2018 21:53

When she was about 18 months she was terrified of a leather coat I had with a furry hood.

And at about the same age - men, all men except her daddy.

And when she was over that, she was terrified of granda when he had his glasses on.

At aged 2 she became terrified of Humpty Dumpty. That one lasted for about 5 years.

She doesn't like Wombles either. Now she is older she remains scared of balloons, dressed up characters and any animal.

Misswiggy · 23/01/2018 21:53

morphene my daughter too is terrified of buttons and the weather. I wonder if it's a recognised condition!?

Originalfoogirl · 23/01/2018 21:54

The batteries were wearing down at it spontaneously started singing 'Tragedy' at a third of the normal pitch and speed from under the bed

To be fair, that would be terrifying!

SergeantAngua2016 · 23/01/2018 21:59

This Christmas just gone 18 month old DS refused to be in the room alone with the Christmas tree (I was 3 feet away in the kitchen), but then cried when I took it down....

Originalfoogirl · 23/01/2018 23:00

Ooh, and Santa Claus. Hated him from the very start. She actually went to see him for the first time last year aged 8.

She used to be terrified of hand dryers too but decided they were ok when she was 6. Hint to all those others here - absolutely nothing you try will help!

CauliflowerBalti · 23/01/2018 23:04

Peacocks and tortoises.

“Mummy... It’s looking at me...”
“It’s a tortoise. It isn’t going to hurt you.”
“IT’S LOOKING AT MEEEEEEEEE!”

TwoBobs · 23/01/2018 23:13

Air con fans on the ceiling. She'd freak out and duck whenever she saw one.

TwoBobs · 23/01/2018 23:18

I was terrified of Gonzo from the Muppets as a child. It was his weird, crooked nose that did it.

Ginnotginger · 23/01/2018 23:21

Dgs was scared of foil being ripped off the roll for about 6 months from age 21 months.

Raver84 · 23/01/2018 23:32

The shapes from Mr maker that dance.

The twirlywoos hooter.

The furchester hotel especially cookie monster.

She's three.

My five year old told me today she is frightend of hens.

mirime · 24/01/2018 09:05

DS who's for and a half now has always been scared of hand dryers. He used to be scared of the wind and those pull down baby change shelves and is now scared of anything he doesn't want to do. Most of September last year had him telling us school was too scary.

When I was little I was terrified of my grandparents toilet (it has an evil face if you're down at child level) and my parents door handles (evil face again), couldn't sleep unless I hung something over it.

hotmessmom82 · 24/01/2018 09:17

My eldest was petrified of sellotape til he was about 3.

LaDilettante · 24/01/2018 09:53

Shop mannequins that don’t have a face with eyes, nose and mouth. Like the ones in H&M. she’s particularly scared of the ones in the kids department. Faceless children, gaaaaaah!

Humv · 24/01/2018 10:35

hotmessmom82 mine too with the sellotape! That made Christmas fun when I had to wrap everything when he wasn’t home and/or napping Hmm

His grandma Shock only think hes ever hysterically cried about is her. He clings on to me and dp and will not let go.

ASimpleLampoon · 24/01/2018 11:01

DS 7 not scared of things like FNAF and Don't Hug me I'm scared, seems to like things that are slightly weird and surreal, petrified of the Trolls movie and babies (not real ones, just ones on the TV)

Goes through phases of being scared of different random things, then which later on don't bother him, sometimes gets scared of things that haven't bothered him at all before.

WellThatsATurnipForTheBooks · 24/01/2018 11:04

Anyone remember a children's programme called Me Too from about 10 years ago? DS was petrified of Granny Murray the childminder character that the programme was based around.

He used to run and hide as soon as he heard the music.

DangerousBeanz · 24/01/2018 11:04

My DS is afraid of tomato ketchup.
He's 26 and works in hospitality. Confused

TheBadgersMadeMeDoIt · 24/01/2018 11:51

DD is scared of the old portable TV in DM's spare bedroom. We have to move it out of there when we stay or she won't go to sleep.

It was caused by the appearance of a "scary monkey" on the screen when DM tried plugging in my old Nintendo so she could play with it. (It was Donkey Kong). Now she won't go near that TV even if it's unplugged.

Arseface · 24/01/2018 12:07

The Problem Blob on Numberjacks
‘black elves’ (no, me either Confused)

We have a Ben and Holly house and my 22 month old DD likes to put a little happy land cat in the window of it -but if she looks through the window at the cat she gets all scared and worried saying "no!!" And comes running to mummy.
