To ask if you've had Pneumonia, how did you know it wasn't 'just a cough'

Christmastits · 20/01/2018 00:59

Had a cough since Tuesday, I've called in sick for the weekend. I'm not starting to feel any better.

I have a temp of 39.5 and my sputum is now brown, it's really hard to cough up anything but it's always there. Lots of vomiting caused by the coughing, I feel bloody awful.

Drs on Thursday said it was viral but I'm not so sure now, I feel like I have the flu, I also have a uti which I'm on antibiotics for but they won't treat a chest infection.

Is it time to go back to OOH tomorrow? Or tonight? I all of a sudden feel really unwell. I'll have to wake DH up to take me but I don't feel like this is just a cough any more

Couldn't stand up without falling down and broke a rib coughing!

JustVent · 25/01/2018 15:42

I wish people would RTFT. It’s gone past that now.

Lukeandlorelai4Ever · 25/01/2018 16:07

Oh god , poor you op. Hope recovery isn't to long for youFlowers

Christmastits · 25/01/2018 16:16

@Bobbiepin I'm absolutely gutted I've had another miscarriage and emotionally exhausted but trying to breathe is taking up quite a lot of effort so I'm just focusing on that and sleep at the moment.

DH said that they told him a few times now that I'm very unwell and not to expect me home any time soon he was asked to ring my mum and get her in last night but couldn't get hold of her :(

Christmastits · 26/01/2018 00:44

They're talking about maybe talking my central line out tomorrow 😃 I am so happy!! I really hope that happens!

Christmastits · 26/01/2018 03:47

I've never had oramorph before is it meant to make you sleepy and nauseous?

OP posts:
Bobbiepin · 26/01/2018 05:57

When I had it I wasn't nauseous but it made me sleep (which was welcome through the pain of a kidney infection). Take all the morphine you can get my love.

Bobbiepin · 26/01/2018 05:57

Great news about the central line though, a step in the right direction.

JustVent · 26/01/2018 06:18

I never felt anything when I had oramorph. Perhaps my dose was low.

WeeSassenach · 26/01/2018 08:26

Oh Christmastits that's lovely to hear, hope they do remove it and you continue to improve. Been following the thread, good to know you're feeling a bit betterSmile

Itscurtainsforyou · 26/01/2018 08:32

Great news about the central line, you must be improving. I loved oramorph, it spaced me out and I forgot about the pain

RandomMess · 26/01/2018 09:01

So glad you are turning a corner Thanks

zigzagbetty · 26/01/2018 13:43

Oramorph can make you sick but didn't with me, can still feel i have pain but it doesn't hurt if that makes sense?
I had oramorph with iv paracetamol aswell on hospital and found that was the most effective pain relief for me. Just keep telling them if your feeling pain Flowers

Flowerfae · 26/01/2018 13:54

I had it when I was about 7 months pregnant. I felt awful and I couldn't stop drinking water, like a jug in one go. I couldn't breathe I was just laying in bed couldn't do anything else. I got taken to the infirmery near to where we live. I was having to hold onto things to walk, a really nice med student actually helped me walk to the toilet. I don't remember much else apart from waking up in a hospital room, they took the majority of my clothes off and put me in a chair next to an open window (it was november too so blimmin freezing). There was a dr in my room for a while and then a nurse stayed there (which I know theres something wrong for that to happen lol) my temp just kept going up and up. I had to have physiotherapy for the 2 weeks I was in hospital. I felt like hell for ages even after I was discharged.

Now as soon as I get a cold (not had the flu yet fingers crossed I won't get it) its straight into a chest infection.

Sorry OP to hear how much of a tough ride you've had. Hope you are feeling better today x
