My dear other half offered me some toast, or which I took one bite and refused to eat..... He had used margarine not butter.

He said I am a stuck up bitch. in a light hearted jokey manner

So would you decline toast made with Marg? Envy

I think we need to be very kind and understanding OP, not in the least bit patronising, oh no. And trust that one day they will see the error of their ways.

I mean, how can you even think about having a sugar banana sandwich with MARGE FFS?!

ZanyMobster · 19/01/2018 22:15

We always had margarine until I read what was in it Shock only butter in this house now.

myguineapigisinnocent · 19/01/2018 22:20

butter all the way for me. i can cope with olive oil spread but that awful bright yellow synthetic nasty stuff they call marg???? no thanks. as for marmite, well, all i can say is it is vile and i think the Danes are very sensible

tillytrotter1 · 19/01/2018 22:20

He'll never do that again, will he? In future it'll be 'Make your own b@@@@y toast'. My mother used to talk about 'best butter' but she would have been over 100 by now! When he used to be due his cholestral check OH would buy Flora and those little pots of drink, don't know which was worse.

Opaldaisies · 19/01/2018 22:22

Depends how hungry I was. It's not my favourite so I wouldn't enjoy it as much but I'd not refuse it on principle.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 19/01/2018 22:24

Don't think I'd even know the difference.Blush

Kintan · 19/01/2018 22:24

I wouldn't even accept marge entering the house!

HermionesRightHook · 19/01/2018 22:26

I have a small butter dish that's just right for enough for me for a week, so I don't risk a big slab going off.

Others know this house insist on marge because they have a bizarre belief that extruded weird stuff is better for you. Fools.

BonnieF · 19/01/2018 22:27

Butter every time in our house.

I simply refuse to believe that some disgusting factory processed concoction of oil, emulsifiers, stabilisers, colourings, flavourings, preservatives and other dodgy chemicals can be healthier choice than natural, churned butter. Enjoyed in moderation, of course.

echt · 19/01/2018 22:28

One is astonished that there is even, margarine do you call it? in one's house. 👑

Idontdowindows · 19/01/2018 22:30

That dish there, top right. BUTTER.

No marg will ever befoul its porcelain and no toast will ever be besmirched with vegetable fats.

BF just called me a stuck up bitch.
MsVestibule · 19/01/2018 22:34

I can't believe that I ate marg for years in the 70s (because it was cheaper) and in the 80s and 90s (because low fat was the way to go). I was cheated!!

VeraVinegarTits · 19/01/2018 22:35

YANBU. Margarine is grim.

elaine26 · 19/01/2018 22:38

Butter here too marg is disgusting

bluescreen · 19/01/2018 22:44

Let's not lose sight of the fact that OH offered her toast. No matter what he spread on it, this basic decency portends a happy future.
Especially if he's willing to consider butter.

DaisysStew · 19/01/2018 22:47

Aww, my nana used to call it best butter, we just thought she was weird, never realised it was a “thing”.

YANBU at all OP. My mums a marg user - the most liberating thing about moving out was being able to buy proper butter. 😋

LuluBellaBlue · 19/01/2018 22:50

My first ever LTB Grin

PricillaQueenOfTheDesert · 19/01/2018 22:53

I wouldn’t even have marg or any low fat spread in the house.

wowfudge · 19/01/2018 22:53

DP thinks marg is better for you as it is lower in calories. Wrong and a fool!

Mazzystarlett · 19/01/2018 22:55

My Mum used to buy St. Ivel Gold and it was bloody vile. On toast it smelled like melted crayons and tasted worse. As soon as I was living on my own this place became a butter-only house and marg will never darken this door again. GET RID (Of the marg, BF optional).

nocoolnamesleft · 19/01/2018 22:58

For most things marg is fine. However, you absolutely need butter for baked potatoes, new potatoes, and toast.

Have you considered LTB? (Loving Toast Buttered)

gillybeanz · 19/01/2018 22:59

I heard that marg was illegal and not allowed to be made anymore Confused, how are people buying it?

SilverySurfer · 19/01/2018 23:01

Margarine is rank and inedible. I disposed of several Mary Berry recipe books when she insisted that victoria sponges should be made with Stork margarine [boak] when everyone knows you should use butter.

I would chuck your BF out with the margarine.

TrinitySquirrel · 19/01/2018 23:02

Why the fuck was it even in the fridge?
