Does anyone else comfort watch TV?

I was thinking about what a weirdo I am- because that's what weirdos do!- earlier, because of my all time favourite TV programme (something got me thinking about it).
Then I got to thinking, is comfort viewing a favourite programme a thing? A bit like comfort eating? AIBU to just want to slob out and rewatch A Place In Slovakia or A Place In Spain every now and again?!

Totally. I love Roger and Val, and Father Ted.

I do, all the time, I often get down in myself and need something to take my mind off of me, I like rubbish films like The Devil Wears Prada and crap like that. I can forget all my worries and it stops my brain going around for an hour or so.

Millions of people slob in front of the tv and watch programmes that don't require thought. Top Gear and Mrs Browns Boys come to mind.

Ooh I forgot about Hallmark! I love watching their Christmas movies. I'm loving this snowy Sunday, got the heating on and a cup of tea watching The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, bliss. I usually fall back on films that remind me of my childhood, Back to the Future, Indiana Jones, The Mummy, Ghostbusters and the like. I adore the Harry Potter, LOTR, and PotC films too.

Yes esp stuff from when I was a kid esp things that were on Sunday night all creatures great and small, poirot etc

Obviously I love Crazy Ex-Girlfiend- hence my username; Friends; Desperate Housewives; Big Bang etc.

My other guilty pleasure comfort binge watch is teen dramas such as GG, Pretty Little Liars and loved 90210, even though I’m in my late 30s. Believing I’m in Blair and Serena’s world is the best escapism ever!

Omigiddyaunt, I forgot about Location....Kirsty and Phil are much beloved in this country for good reason. And Sarah Beeney, and The Hotel Inspector!!

Just discovered The Dick Van Dyke Show on Netflix so am indulging in a couple of episodes a day. Mary Tyler Moore was gorgeous.
Also adore Everybody Loves Raymond and Frasier, just brilliant.

I like Cheaters. I know it's all staged but I love it.

Actually, I remember why I stopped watching Cheaters now... that Joey Grecko geezer stopped presenting it and I liked him. His weird little under the chin tuft of hair was fascinating.

I was bed ridden through illness for a week recently. I watched hotel Babylon, hustle, heartbeat, only fools, gavin and Stacy, Miss marple (Geraldine mcewan versions - usually a Joan hickson fan but I thought GM brought a cheekiness to the role that worked shit I watched too many of these), Foyles war. When I was well enough to come downstairs I binge watched the crown, alias grace and revisited peaky Blinders. It was bliss! Not worth being so ill hmmm actually might have been!

Love a bit of P and P :). I also rewatch band of brothers once a year which I still consider to be the best thing I've ever seen on telly.
Dd1 watched it with me last time and she absolutely loved it (and it's the last thing she'd normally watch).

Inspector Morse for me - every few months they stick a load of them on ITV player. I watch it so often I even have favourite episodes. Morse's Oxford is so beautiful, atmospheric and cultured that I'd move there like a shot, despite the sky-high risk of getting bumped off by a scheming academic with a long-held grudge.
