AIBU?

Does anyone else comfort watch TV?

I was thinking about what a weirdo I am- because that's what weirdos do!- earlier, because of my all time favourite TV programme (something got me thinking about it).
Then I got to thinking, is comfort viewing a favourite programme a thing? A bit like comfort eating? AIBU to just want to slob out and rewatch A Place In Slovakia or A Place In Spain every now and again?!

I comfort watch all the time. Lost, Friends, Once Upon Time, Star Trek: TNG, Diagnosis Murder, The Walking Dead. My life revolves around my kids, my tv, films and music, it's sad I know but I actually like it. Spend my day with my DC, cuddle up at night with my DH and watch a film/programme and have my music for me time. Bliss.

I've been watching Father Brown on the iplayer- I think it's on in the afternoons. It's got reassuring Mr Weasley in it and is nice and cosy apart from the regular murders!

Greys anatomy, ally Mcbeal and full house are what I 'comfort watch' when I'm feeling down/lost/tired. I watch a bit of that, take a hot bath and eat some chocolate spread by the spoonful - all things I only do for 'comfort' not health, practicality or routine (or even necessarily enjoyment all the time).

I also watch loose women and this morning when I have a bad cold or am physically vomiting. Only then, but I love it.

I used to put on the Thick of It every day as soon as I got home from work. This went on for about six months. Later, I loaned my copy of The Thick of It Specials to a friend. Her home flooded and the dvd was damaged.

I tried for years to find a replacement. Finally, two weeks ago I checked out iTunes, which I had done many times before, and saw that it was available, but only as part of the whole series. I bought it all, even though I didn’t need the other series, (the regular episodes). I spent the whole weekend curled up in front of the tv watching it. I still knew most of the dialogue.

It was all the more enjoyable because we were experiencing minus 30C temps, and my heating went out. Thank god for space hearters and blankets. And Malcolm.

I go through phases of watching different things. I perpetually watch Father Ted, Blackadder, and certain films. At times of stress I've watched bland crap like Four in a Bed, Antiques Road Trip etc. At times I have the urge to watch 24hrs in A&E or other real life things. I'm not a huge TV watcher but do use it as background noise on my iPad as I move around the house cleaning.

Watching Dad's Army takes me back to when I was a child and we would all watch together as all family. It makes me feel safe and secure.

Yes, so much! The Big Bang Theory was our go to for ages, but we're trying to branch out a bit more these days. We still stick it on for a bit though if we just want something in the background.

I also like to binge what my FiL calls 'dead body programmes' like Waking the Dead, Silent Witness, Jonathan Creek, Death in Paradise, CSI: Miami/New York/Las Vegas etc. and also period drama's; Downton, Outlander, Peaky Blinders.

Actually, its not so much comfort tv, as just watching the same old stuff over and over again. I'm so boring!

I comfort read books too. Outlander, Harry Potter, The Tales of the Otori, Phillippa Gregory stuff.
