AIBU?

To tell you about my dirty lunch?

I have a day at home alone today. Upon mooching around in the fridge just now, I delightedly came upon a few left over roast potatoes from Sunday lunch. I've just popped them in the oven and am planning on crushing them, adding grated cheese and smothering them in mayo.

My defence for this dirty lunch is I'm full of cold and ravenous. I deserve it.

Anyone else having a dirty lunch? What's your excuse? Grin

I've just had a bowl of porridge with cinnamon and a Quality Street green triangle chocolate grated into it Grin

My local spud-u-like does crushed potatoes. They taught me everything I know. They're even dirtier though - they serve them with a slice of garlic bread Shock

I'm having a bottle of hop house and some onion bhajis. No regrets

You need finely chopped raw onion with mayo and grated cheese.

Other than than- looks delicious.

YABU to reheat the potatoes. Nothing better than cold roast spuds.

Assume the dirty affix is a kickback at ‘clean’ eating? I know which I fancy just now and it’s not a kale and kiwi smoothie.

SaucyJack , I was going to suggest the same thing to the OP. A handful of spring onions would make that lunch perfect.

Hmm, might do roast spuds tonight so I can have some leftovers. On boxing day, I dip them in grainy mustard.

Food is not “dirty” or “clean” - it’s just food.

For some reason I have a strange longing for a mince pies. I don't really like mince pies. If I was 30 years younger and still had a womb and ovaries I would seriously think I was pregnant. Don't know what the explanation is in mid 60s with no womb or ovaries but I wish it had happened a month ago when I could have popped out and bought some.

Maybe I should do some baking but I also feel very tired and lethargic.

I thought you'd dropped your lunch on the floor or something.

Food isn't clean or dirty (unless, again, you literally drop it in the mud or similar). It's food. I wish people would stop internalising this Paltrow-like nonsense.

I've just had black pudding on toasted English muffin. It was delicious and full of lovely iron.

A dirty lunch is a fine antidote to all this 'clean eating' bollocks.
Glad you enjoyed it.

Why is the first comment always so fucking negative?

Love a dirty lunch op.

Unfortunately I gave my leftover roasties to DH who doesn't actually understand them as he's forrin.

I have casserole and JP for lunch, not exactly diiiirty.

Yours all sound lovely. I had a pint of Halo Top ice cream for my lunch yesterday. Beat that, haha.

That looks delicious OP.

I'm having a shit food day. The cupboards are empty as I'm injured, DH has been away and I misjudged how far the food we had in before he left would stretch. This morning I had plain weetabix. For lunch I had an orange with some frisps. I've already preordered a pizza for tonight.

I am living vicariously through all of your dirty lunches, while I count bloody calories in misery Sad

If I were able to have whatever I want I think it would be a pot noodle sandwich on white bread with loads of butter.
Or a crisp butty (cheese and onion on white)
