What do you eat for breakfast?

I don't want to diet. I'm so over dieting. But I want to make some lifestyle changes.

I've identified breakfast as my tricky meal of the day. If I don't eat well, the rest of the day often goes to pot.

So can I ask what you all eat for breakfast and does it keep you full until lunch??

A babybel around 9 then a rich tea finger or 2 hour or so later. If I eat more at breakfast I overeat during the day

MarieNostra · 15/01/2018 21:45

Greek yogurt from Aldi, the best I've ever tasted BTW, and a discovery.... strawberry or raspberry flavoured honey mixed in. I could (and have) eaten it for lunch too. So moreish.

Poached egg on Saturday and Sunday. Yum.

WFPB · 15/01/2018 21:50

Porridge, made with water (do half a cup of oats with half cup water and heat gently on hob whilst chopping apple) with one small chopped apple, berries, flaked almonds & splash of cashew milk. Pretty much have that every day - love it and keeps me full.

All bran, or wholemeal toast with poached/boiled eggs

greendale17 · 15/01/2018 21:58

I never used to eat breakfast until I found these shakes. Really make me full and good balance of nutrients ..

Love the cookies and cream one and only takes a minute to make

Ah, I have to differ re the Greek yoghurt from Aldi being the best. You have never tasted the wonder that is....Spar Greek yoghurt!!!

We eat tons of the stuff - branded organic stuff but usually cheapie own brand Sainsbury’s/Tesco etc. We found a tiny spar corner shop on holiday in Wales last year where we bought the now mythical pot of Spar Greek yoghurt- it was the best we’ve ever tasted. Never seen since but it is still talked about in revered tones.

Anyway, both my DDs have chunky seeded granary toast with nut butter and a chopped banana on top, both say it fills them up. I have oats with oat milk and a topping of hemp hearts, nuts and bits and bobs of fruit and seeds. Before that sounds too healthy, I have a very bad habit of finishing of any large bags of Kettle Chips that may have been hanging about from the night before....

bossbabymomma · 15/01/2018 22:05

Overnight oats or weetabix
Love either and they fill me up until lunch

paperandpaint · 15/01/2018 22:06

My DDs also have a homemade smoothie - frozen berrries, a banana, scoop of Greek yoghurt, some oats and water.

JaceLancs · 15/01/2018 22:10

Porridge with fruit
Yoghurt with fruit
Yoghurt and muesli

Socksey · 15/01/2018 22:10

PurpleDaisies · 15/01/2018 22:11

I used to eat eggs but for veganuary im mainly having toast with avocado or marmite.

inkandstone · 15/01/2018 22:12

Nothing. I just have a couple of cups of coffee and then I feel full up!

glow1984 · 15/01/2018 22:15

The first thing I do in the morning is have a glass of water. It helps me to feel refreshed.

Porridge or eggs with a slice of bread.
A banana
Massive cup of coffee

If I'm still hungry, an extra piece of fruit or a yoghurt :)

Shockers · 15/01/2018 22:15

Either porridge, avocado in a wrap, or eggs (sometimes with a veggie sausage).

In summer I might have plain yogurt and fruit.

Closetlibrarian · 15/01/2018 22:16

I usually have two eggs in some form. A slice of toasted rye bread topped with a bit of butter, some dry-fried mushrooms and spinach and 2 perfectly poached eggs is my current go-to.

Sometimes porridge (made with 50/50 skim-milk and water) with some frozen blueberries stirred in (they kind of melt into it - yum), topped with big spoonful of either 0% Greek yoghurt or Skyr, a drizzling of honey and a sprinkling of seeds.

If I'm feeling really crazy I do a take on Alice Liveing's French toast. (Basically, a slice of sourdough soaked in a beaten egg) fried in a little butter on both sides, topped with a big spoon of Greek yog or Skyr and some of my homemade berry compote (just frozen blueberries and raspberries cooked down until they form a slightly jammy consistency) and a sprinkling of seeds or dukkah.

As you can tell, I like breakfast! (Btw, all the above are balanced, nutritious and between around 250-350 cals and see me through until lunch).

Seren85 · 15/01/2018 22:18

Winter - "apple pie"porridge (apples, raisins, cinnamon, tiny bit of maple syrup
Otherwise - overnight oats or low sugar granola and greek yoghurt and
If not at work - poached eggs, homemade beans, toasted muffin

And then sometimes - huge full english/bagel/bacon and egg butties. For balance, obviously.

OntheAir · 15/01/2018 22:22

Today? Leftover pizza.

Normally (When im not being a complete degenerate): porridge or spoke combo of eggs and toast

LemonysSnicket · 15/01/2018 22:22

Banana and raspberry in milk or nothing, can’t really stomach much else.

Plus coffee.

FiddleFigs · 15/01/2018 22:24

Grape Nuts, full fat Greek yogurt, mango pulp
or
Slice of toast (seeded bread), peanut or almond butter, sliced banana
or
Overnight oats

With a big filter coffee.

Breakfast is always at 9 - I can’t stomach anything any earlier. Keeps me going until 1pm.

Longdistance · 15/01/2018 22:27

Usually nothing Blush I’m not hungry first thing, so I don’t really have anything apart from tea at 9.30 when I get into work. It gets hectic getting dds ready for school, and then running them to school and getting into work.

If I’m home at the weekend, it’s cereal or a full English on a Sunday. But, my favourite is poached eggs on toast with tinned plum tomatoes 😋

BackforGood · 15/01/2018 22:29

I have weetbix, with skimmed milk.
Keeps me going until lunch, as long as I have lunch at about 12 Grin

streetlife70s · 15/01/2018 22:33

I get smoked turkey rashers that you cook like bacon )but with less calories) and stick them in a Walburton whole meal thin with sliced tomato, a few spinach leaves and a slice of cheese. Yummy and filling.
If I’m in a rush and can’t be arsed I’ll make do with a buttered crumpet but try to avoid eating like that too much carbs and no protein in the morning means I’m hungry again way before lunch.

Mummyh2016 · 15/01/2018 22:36

If I don’t have a lot of time I’ll normally have a banana, some berries, a yogurt and a cereal bar. If I have plenty of time I have baked oats, French toast or a bacon sandwich (I know the last 2 don’t take a long time but if I’m strapped for time the last thing I want to do is get the frying pan out!).

violetbunny · 16/01/2018 07:03

Summer -overnight oats with fresh fruit & plain yoghurt

Winter - usually porridge made with steel cut oats cooked in the slow cooker (I make one big batch and reheat as needed). Sometimes I also add Apple and cinnamon.
