Not sure if that link works but it's an interesting read if you want an idea if what bloggers / instamums are earning.

Stopyourhavering64 · 11/04/2018 22:54

He's doing it for the fandom....and engagement
He's got a book coming out dontcha know....a published author Hmm
I do feel sorry for the twins when he's doing the filming of them ....I have unfollowed but it keeps appearing in my 'feed'

Mumofkids · 11/04/2018 22:57

@flyingbird now you mention it of course, there has been comments. It's quite strange to think that it does have that effect. (Also thinking hopefully of the post about masterchef 😆)
@cannotchange one of his more random choices, and definitely odd. Says more about him than the twins. I agree they appear borderline feral, but that's surely just jammed up (I know there are those that say it's not staged, don't believe it myself) I don't get there cots/sleeping bags and constant taking them apart and climbing in and out. It would drive me nuts! And I'd worry about climbing out in the sleeping bag or moving under the mattress in the night, it seems chaotic. But I'm hoping it's just for show and of course it's his #parentingchoice.

PavlovaPrincess · 11/04/2018 22:58

Rolling my eyes at one of the replies to Pukka's latest post about 'ads being misunderstood. They're just a way for creative people to keep on creating', apparently.

Don't want to bash MOD, because it's up to her what she does with her face, but I'm not a fan of veneers on anyone. I thought her teeth were ok before, but I can understand why she did it. Strange how they seem to alter the face shape too (like Rylan's, although MOD's aren't anywhere near as horrific as his).

LittleRen · 11/04/2018 23:00

I noticed the black eyes on Martha... very odd??

jamoncrumpets · 11/04/2018 23:00

SofiaLemon they're also all registered as publicly limited companies - you can read their accounts online

Mumofkids · 11/04/2018 23:13

@pavlovaprincess they change the face shape because they are bigger/more prominent that your own teeth. My daughter has one due to snapping hers in half age 10. They tried so hard to avoid veneer at the dental hospital as a) they don't last forever and b)due to the way they file the tooth down and sit over, they do change the shape. She had hers bleached and false tooth applied to build it up. But in the end she had to have the veneer for cosmetic reasons. It took a while to get used to it but for my teenager, increased her confidence hugely because she could smile without a grey tooth.
If MOD feels better about herself, she's a stunning woman regardless, and how you feel is so important. It's strange though why they choose such white colours, my daughters was carefully matched to the rest of her teeth.

Sofialemon · 11/04/2018 23:14

@jamoncrumpets

I know, I just thought Cara's blog post is helpful to get an idea what instagrammers are paid for individual posts.

Mumofkids · 11/04/2018 23:27

That article is really insightful. My first thought though, if that's the kind of cash involved then why are people not concerned about children being used to make that money. Clearly each square promoting something and featuring a child is earning money. There's no hiding it and pretending they are not being used, and again with the pay per likes, those children get so many more likes. Aside from safety and that side of things, they are earning money.
And it does just confirm how shallow Instagram is.
Was amused by Meldrums post but not by their stories naming and shaming. Mrs Meldrum in particular came across as unpleasant.

Wren42 · 11/04/2018 23:42

Totally agree with you @mumofkids it just reaffirms that the children are the business, there is no hiding it.

Babaloo88 · 12/04/2018 07:04

I honestly hate how fod prefers to talk to the phone rather than comfort is rather distressed twins. If I was a dad I’d be really annoyed at how fod represents fatherhood- unable to cope, overwhelmed, useless no discipline etc- we all know that he is none of this in ‘real life’.

OP posts:
MarshaBradyo · 12/04/2018 07:50

Phones are annoying enough when someone is looking at it instead of engaging

How annoying to have it pointed at you, while you are ‘performing’ for it before comfort

They might learn to swipe it out if his hand (and throw it in the loo)

Tainrainrain · 12/04/2018 10:18

Is fods book supposed to be for men!? Or for women to buy for men? Not sure he is very relatable to most of the men I know.
Someone on here a while back called him Richard Madeley and he really is.

HolyMountain · 12/04/2018 10:37

I think it was me who called him Insta’s Richard MadeleyGrin, it’s so true!

jamoncrumpets · 12/04/2018 10:50

If I bought my DH that FOD book he would laugh alright, in my face. The books are just an attempt to legitimise the whole venture aren't they? I did buy MOD's first book last year, it was quite helpful and I liked reading the birth stories (they were pretty much all fellow 'instamamas' though). Unfortunately I had a late miscarriage and there wasn't really anything at all in there about that, so down on the shelf it went. When I became pregnant again 7 months later I didn't bother to get it, and it's sat there ever since. I think I'll gift it to my DSis when she gets pregnant, I do still rate it for first time mums.

And the comments on here about MOD's dental work are just a bit, odd. I didn't come here to slag off someone's veneers. What she spends her money on is her business, she can buy an acre of land on the moon for all I care. The only way I'd object or even question it is that, if someone were to give her an acre of land on the moon for free in return for coverage, I'd want to see it tagged #ad, not #gifted.

Ionlyspeakthetruth · 12/04/2018 10:58

Not sure if anyone follows @Bethshehata but her latest post seems to be ruffling feathers in the interior bloggers world. Her poll really summarised perfectly how majority have been feeling regarding undisclosed ad, cool gang club, and the famous small brand shout out / follow Friday.

PavlovaPrincess · 12/04/2018 11:01

@jamoncrumpets I can see why you might feel like that about MOD's teeth and as I said earlier it's up to her what she does, but as it's 'out there' I don't think you can stop people commenting, in the way that some people would comment if Cheryl Cole had done something to her appearance.

MOD has documented her trips to the dentist and shown a pic of her finished teeth. I don't think it's 'odd' that anyone on here might comment on that.

Allmyshilldren · 12/04/2018 11:05

I feel like FOD and MOD are getting it so wrong. Those little girls are so overexposed and it is really alarming that anyone with minimal effort can find out their home address.

I really lost respect for them after the Madagascar trip. A few contractually obliged posts then back to whinging about their first world problems and flogging shit nobody needs. With their followings of hundreds of thousands of people around the world plus MOD’s work they could be doing so much more to highlight local and global issues in maternal health, promote charities and support the actual sisterhood, not just a handful of other privileged white middle class women.

PavlovaPrincess · 12/04/2018 11:06

@Ionlyspeakthetruth can't argue with any of why she's posted, really. I also hate Follow Fridays too.

PavlovaPrincess · 12/04/2018 11:06

*what not why!

800msprint · 12/04/2018 11:19

allmys second that! Though I don't know why it frustrates me. Yes I do it's because something is wrong with the world when half a million people want to follow a midwife who does jack s1t for women's issues but just sells overpriced stuff to other middle class women

Mumofkids · 12/04/2018 11:59

@jamoncrumpets I can see where your coming from with veneers, however, she storied and documented lengthy dental work, having asked for dental recommendations, said she'd had 9 injections and cried and then appears with a new face. It's not odd to comment. She is a lovely looking woman.
And actually Cheryl Cole has changed her appearance drastically. Lots of these women seeking to impress be themselves looked better before they messed around.

Mumofkids · 12/04/2018 12:00

*improve not impress

That's interesting, she's blocked other Midwives who've disagreed with her, over what?
