Why is the other thread closed?!? I was enjoying reading through it?!!

Holiday - why do you think they're being maltreated? If they were, you'd have a point. You're basing this on absolutely nothing though, apart from watching an Insta feed.

Wait! You said FOD's Instagram feed was a 'snap shot of family life'. So is it his family life or is it staged?

And who are the accounts with huge followings and the same USP as FOD?

So many questions, Cady! Smile

MadameGrizzly · 13/04/2018 16:08

I agree, Pavlova. I don't actually expect Cady to answer as they pull arguments from thin air to obfuscate. 😂

MarshaBradyo · 13/04/2018 16:08

That should be
Do not discuss because you must contact them directly - I think that’s crazy

holiday101 · 13/04/2018 16:08

Cady you seem to be lacking something. This is not the first time I have seen you not understanding posts. I did not say FoD is maltreating his children (although I do think there have been a few precarious situations for entertainments sake) Being in poverty is a risk factor for child maltreatment ie people in poverty (and BME groups disproportionately fall into this group) So someone who is White and middle class is likely to be scored or deemed lower risk than a man who is Black and unemployed in terms of likelihood of maltreating a child.

Sofialemon · 13/04/2018 16:11

@FlyingBird

Re the post where one twin looked distressed which pic was it?

If they were distressed and FOD took a photo rather than attempt to placate them, for all we know that child might have been a stroppy nightmare all day long. It might just have been one of those days.

I have pics of my kids having tantrums or crying. If I just posted the pic with no context I might look like a cruel, uncaring mother, I'm not though.

CadyHeron · 13/04/2018 16:13

Why just the singling out of these comment meant FOD and MOD accounts. Not posts. It seems to be constant watching and tearing down it's bordering on obsessive.

MadameGrizzly · 13/04/2018 16:17

I think it was a Instagram story, Sofia, where over a period of time a distressed and crying child in an overly long sleeping bag tried to get her father's attention. Her father meanwhile kept videoing himself talking into his phone. This all happened on a landing at the top of a large staircase, too.

It is an odd thing to post if you are trying to attract and retain family orientated advertisers.

Madamegrizzly - you truly seem to struggle with comprehension.
Yes, I said it's a snapshot of family life. As in, you see a snap shot of their day and it's not always as it seems. It's literally a snap shot.
Half of the stuff you see on social media will be staged, it's truly baffling to me that some on this thread were genuinely worrying earlier that they were "being left to run amok in supermarkets". Like everything they see is automatically true. It's so strange.

MadameGrizzly · 13/04/2018 16:20

I mean, maybe the child had been a 'stroppy nightmare' all day? Or maybe his content takes priority over his child's distress?

Different viewers will have a different opinion and this is of course what happens when you broadcast your family for public consumption: your family and parenting is open to scrutiny.

Mmm. I'm not sure I'm the one struggling with comprehension. Smile

By the way, who are the accounts with huge followings and the same USP as FOD that you mentioned earlier, Cady? I'd like to compare their accounts.

CadyHeron · 13/04/2018 16:25

You do realise there's loads out there, right? Why do I need to link? So you can pull them apart and suggest they need SS too?

Nope, I don't know of any other fathers on Instagram with huge followings and a similar USP to FOD.

I don't think you do either, Cady. Smile

This possibly answers your earlier question as to why there is so much discussion of FOD. His account is unique in Instagram parenting circles.

Ellenripleysalienbaby · 13/04/2018 17:01

Sometimes I feel a bit had for looking at my phone a bit too much, and worry I'm not giving my kids enough attention, the effect it has on them. I'm sure we all do at points.

Can you imagine what it's like for those kids with their parents glued to their phones all day, filming the kids, talking into the phone all the time? It's such a bizarre and unprecedented upbringing, surely it will have an effect on the children at some point? How do the kids distinguish between what is real and what is for the Insta?

800msprint · 13/04/2018 17:05

ellen yes! Let's bring this thread back to the issues. Phones and kids. F ing nightmare waiting to explode I think.

And double yes to those poor kids getting filmed every second of their lives.

MadameGrizzly · 13/04/2018 17:05

I agree, Ellen.

I posted on an earlier thread that it would be so weird flicking through the 2035 version of the family album and asking 'Was that just a day out/holiday/normal family celebration or paid advertising?'

Ellenripleysalienbaby · 13/04/2018 17:08

That was supposed to sad 'bad' not 'had'!

Ellenripleysalienbaby · 13/04/2018 17:13

Say, not sad for fucks sake!

I'm looking forward to the days when the tables are turned, advertising regulations are relaxed and kids of 13+ will be able to film their parents making cups of tea first thing in the morning with bed heaf or after a night out on the sauce with #ad plastered over their insta. Now wouldn't that be interesting? 😂 Roll on 2035 😂

FlyingBird Grin love it!

Yes 'had' was an apt typo there!

MadameGrizzly · 13/04/2018 17:37

I think that's a really concerning observation, advocatingmum. It would horrify me to know that any random person could find my home address.

(Unfortunately some, okay two, posters on this thread would label your friend a nasty stalker.

I do like a good limerick, FlyingBird! 😂
