@babaloo88 hmm I quite liked her teeth, but apparently they were wonky from tooth grinding (I did this and got an attractive gum shield for bed 🤦🏻‍♀️) but after 9 injections and however many hours must be quite major work.

Stopyourhavering64 · 10/04/2018 22:51

Blind bag....isn't that something like the emperor's new clothes?
God knows how I managed to raise my 3 dcs to adulthood with me out here In the sticks #ruralretreat

langkaw · 10/04/2018 22:52

I've just fallen down the cool mama hole by going on the website. It's like instamum bingo: Wall: tick, hip mama: tick cool new stuff (to sell at you) tick. Designers, directors, interiors, fringes, White women, fringes....

Tainrainrain · 10/04/2018 22:57

I'm really hoping for more DIY store shenanigans. Love that.
Also supermarket.
Possibly asking them to do things... Like wire a plug or plaster a wall and it will be so cute/hilarious when they can't. How I will lol.

langkaw · 10/04/2018 23:02

@Tainrainrain yes I'll set them loose with a chainsaw in the garden and be sure to get good footage when the paramedics turn up. My caption will read: 'you know those days when you just feel the mama guilt?' And all my fan girls will tell me I'm only human and ignore the haters.

Growingboys · 10/04/2018 23:08

Langkaw thank you for making me laugh with your vision of MumsnetHQ praying for peace around the Jo Malone candles in Hackney!

Woke my husband up snorting with laughter.

Also was it Mumofkids who mentioned the massively annoying 'adult headache'.

SO fucking twee. Yet MOD/FOD seem to find it clever and hilarious.

JUST SAY HANGOVER FOR FUCK'S SAKE.

Indeed. I feel I may fail as an instamum because one of my children keeps insisting on wearing a very garish unicorn t shirt which is not a small brand!! Seriously how do they get the children to wear tasteful tones?!
Also I'm really common so no hope.

jamoncrumpets · 11/04/2018 08:22

Well last night I lit my Neom candle and relaxed with one of those space mask thingies that makes your eyes go all hot. Max relax! I'm just off to have some 'me time' in the shower (#selfcare) before donning my 'Mama' sweatshirt and parenting the shit out of today - I'm thinking of pulling up on the hard shoulder of the M4 and letting toddler DC just run fucking crazy while I film him with my Go-Pro and occasionally turn it on myself to gurn/grin in mock agony. My engagement is gonna go fucking ballistic!

langkaw · 11/04/2018 08:28

@Tainrainrain tell your daughter that unicorns are sooo 2015 and exist in the instamum has been pile along with the hashtag #winning. She could just about get away with a unicorn birthday cake but if she wants to win at the game of high 'like' engagement then. It's #stronggirl all the way sweetie.

jamoncrumpets · 11/04/2018 08:33

Question: if DC pisses in his #gifted Tobias and the Bear leggings today can I just spray him down with my #gifted Method cleaning spray or should I launder his clothes in my #gifted Miele washing machine? Just want to make sure I've 'got this Mama'...

langkaw · 11/04/2018 08:34

@jamoncrumpets I wish I could do the same but I don't drive! Instead I'll let the kids drive me up the wall by scribbling 'help!' 'Set me free' over the elephants breath walls and use it as an excuse to throw a solo wine tasting party. Then we'll all dance to pharell Williams happy. Although I think that song might belong in 2015?

langkaw · 11/04/2018 08:36

@jamoncrumpets I think you should go method. Someone will judge you but some nice ladies in West Virginia will have your back and fight your corner.

Jackiebrambles · 11/04/2018 08:50

You've really made me chuckle. Very confused about Cady's reaction though :-/

I used to believe it was lots of women who'd been a bit lost, supporting each other. But it's a clique. A business, money making clique.

This sums it up so well for me.

langkaw · 11/04/2018 09:05

@Jackiebrambles but it's a community us mamas have built in these little squares! Are you suggesting it's just one way flow unless the engagement is with other super instamums?

800msprint · 11/04/2018 09:15

The same old instamums are peddled out at every mum event as well. Yawn.

I do like what Candice Brathwaite is doing with her diversity in motherhood campaign. More of that please. And yes, less consumerism and cliqued slogan t shirts.
I do like following her plus junkaholique - she does feature her children a lot but there is no buy this etc and her photos and blog are beautiful and she's just interesting. Also Hannah Bullivant - also v interesting and honest and supportive of self care. Talks about anxiety a lot. Orbyn is great. She writes for the Pool. V honest and super funny and generally lovely. Charlotte Philby great. Doing new stories now about different experiences in life. And not technically an instamum but I also love the frugality. Her styling is fab. She's very upfront as to what is bought and not. And is a new mum so I love following how's she's getting on. She has loads of followers but always replies to me and is lovely. Also mother pukka obvs.
All these feeds make me FEEL GOOD about myself, give me inspiration and ideas and don't make me think of mean girls!!

I'm pleased MOD has gone back to some midwifery stuff. A while back she said she wanted to do more on the fourth trimester. I wonder if her third book will be about that? I still think it's a shame she's not doing more for midwifery issues but I do appreciate she's taken some of this stuff on board for her ads at least. I used to love her blog but unfollowed her a while ago as could not relate!

I find it very odd that the other threads were pulled. I've been following and contributing every so often. It's such a shame that a few trolls and personal attacks have caused it (or is it really that the instamums have forced it?!)

There needs to be a dialogue about this new phenomenon somewhere and if mumsnet can champion it then they should!

800msprint · 11/04/2018 09:20

Oh god laughing so much at the recent posts. So so true!!!

I looked at all my kids yesterday who had all picked their own clothes and decided we would never make any money if this carries on. Bloody scruffy (me) random coloured bunch of no hopers. And I forgot my phone so couldn't record them. So if I didn't record them did it really happen?!

@Tainrainrain just breathe. Remember the saying 'this too shall pass.' Tomorrow is another day. Us mamas can't always get it right. Can you take some time to be kind to yourself today? With some candles and one of those posh ingredient ready meal thingys?

SpringSprangSprung · 11/04/2018 09:31

Yes, it is good that MoD has gone back to her midwifery roots, and also entirely predictable given the ad frenzy she has been on. Will be interesting to see how it evolves or if it is just the filling between the next ad rush.
