Can’t see to proceed out of drive

Ok I got a problem. My neighbour is parking his lorry right up to the entrance of my drive over the sloped kerbstone that forms a dropped kerb.it totally obstructs my view of oncoming traffic and totally obstructs the view of oncoming traffic to actually see my car proceeding from my drive.
It’s difficult to swing out to.
There isn’t a option speaking to my neighbour as they have done nothing but cause problems for me yet I never done anything wrong to them they just took a dislike .
I have already asked the highways about a white t bar being painted but they said they don’t do that no more also they said they don’t put mirrors up no more as that would had solved the problem.
But I’m so worried if I do hit oncoming traffic am I held responsible?
The police are not interested I’m just told he is not breaking the law.
It doesn’t matter if I turned left or right my view is still totally obscured.
And makes no difference reversing out or driving forwards out.

Going out forwards does make a difference so reverse in. You'll be able to see sooner. Open windows to listen.

Try your local councillor, the ones with spare time are idle allowance-pocketers but you never know.

Go out forward, go slow look carefully and if by good fortune you have someone in the car, they can stand in the road and stop traffic while you proceed into your lane.

Rather than park on your drive could you park where the lorry is instead.

Forward out absolutely makes a difference. My DM has a difficult drive and it absolutely makes sense to back in.

Our council lets us register our dropped kerbs, then tickets anyone who parks over any of the dropped kerb (including the sloped kerbstone). Try your local council.

Get the drive made wider, expensive but worth it. Have a look at your local council website

Totally agree with Anne. Park on the road where he's parking at the moment.
If police say he's not breaking the law he can't ask you to move

I’ve thought of that but my neighbour would find a way of damaging my car .lets put it like this before I had my drive put in I would park outside my own house then these neighbours would purposely block my car in even taking one of their cars off their drive to do it.

Only just had drive recently put in with a dropped kerb ,the contractors can only follow highways specs for a dropped kerb so if I had my drive widened I would be driving over the part of the kerb that isn’t dropped if you understand what I mean but highways spec is all driveways must have a dropped kerb.

Trouble is in my area authorities pass the buck so I get nowhere.
We tried reversing in but it was the same .not only that to reverse in again we have the problem of the view being totally obstructed as we swing round into our drive.believe me we have tried everything we can think of.
We do have the window down to listen but with so much traffic noise it’s difficult. But as for one watching while the other gets out we aren’t often home together to do this. I will add his lorry does fit in his drive I’ve only seen this a couple of times. He has options like parking on the other road where there are no houses etc. I’m not the only resident not happy about this lorry other residents aren’t happy either but they darent complain due to the harassment they know he has caused me .
It is also parked opposite the neighbour over the road driveway and she has problems getting out of her drive .

Is it his lorry or does it belong to a company? Can you complain to them about the parking?

Can you put bollards outside your gate to prevent anyone parking too near your exit? Put up a sign warning of a consealed entrance. Reverse on to your drive so you have better visibility getting out. Talk to your local counsellor about the issue.

How big is the neighbour's 'lorry'?

Is it a main road? I'm sure lorries can't park on them. I'd keep contacting the police.

Park in the road and put up CCTV. If they damage your car you have proof. If they block you in you have proof.

My view is obstructed quite often coming off my drive. I edge out slowly. Why can't you do that?

And yes, of course it would be your responsibility if you hit someone.

Does the lorry have a company name on it? Could you get a friend to call the company? That's a at it wouldn't come back to you.

If you feel it's part of a wider campaign of harassment you need to involve your local community policing team.

Belongs to a company but no good complaining to them they don’t care.another neighbour some years ago said something to them they said the lorry should not be parked down here more than two hours at a time but they know full well he is parking it down here as about the same time our local council contacted them about it being parked down here on his days off .company did nothing .

When you say a lorry, do you mean a truck? It's illegal to park anything over 3.5ton overnight on the road. You'll be able to get the info on the GVW using the DVLA tax check website.

Trouble is they would do it after dark my cctv is infra red but not clear enough to pick up at that distance in the dark.

I just remember a police officer pal of mine doing the fella up the road for parking his lorry on the main road. Mind, that was 30+ years ago.

It’s 7.5 tonne but as it’s a recovery lorry doesn’t need a o licence so I don’t think the law covers that In that regard . A o licence lorry must be kept back at base .
