Party lite for me

Lordofmyflies · 12/01/2018 17:26

Diptyque. Simply the best. Last a longtime and beautiful scent. Baines and Fig are my faves.

Luckingfovely · 12/01/2018 17:27

Oh and just remembered these are lovely:

You can get Bath and Body works candles on eBay - they are great and cheap compared to Jo Malone or Diptyque

My other faves apart from Bath and Body Works are :
Jo Malone (candles and diffusers - the diffusers last ages and I've used each one I've ever bought for 6 months +)
Diptyque
40 Degree candles (they claim to be made by Jo Malone's old original factory before the brand was bought. They are around 50% cheaper though).
Dior home candle (yes Dior now do candles!)
The White Company

I would say not all high end candles are made equally. I bought a Tom Ford candle and found that it was a really weak scent for such a high price. It's a waste of money and I hardly burn it now because it's just rubbish.

In the future I'd like to try Cire Trudon candles and will look out for some of the others suggested in this thread.

I buy the £2.00 'wineberry' candles from Morrison's. They last for about a fortnight.

Zampa · 12/01/2018 17:34

Diptyque are the best but I also like And Other Stories candles which are much cheaper. Beauty Pie have also started doing candles and I ordered all but one of the scents, half of which I would re-order.

Tried St Eval recently and I'm impressed. Their Inspiritus is a lovely winter Christmassy scent, not overpowering but comforting.

Nitrobetty1 · 12/01/2018 17:41

They are bad for your health.

JustCallMeJanet · 12/01/2018 17:42

Love Shay and Blue Belladonna

Littlewhitedove · 12/01/2018 17:45

Lily flame...very good...lots of yummy aromas and they burn right across the top so no holes

Dyptique. Feu de Bois in autumn and winter, Baies or Tuberose in spring and summer.

meddie · 12/01/2018 17:49

Fuji candles www.fujicandles.com do a wax melt black pomegranate that has real good scent throw and lasts for ages. you can remelt it numerous times and it still has good scent. they also do many other melts and candles that have similar fragrances to well known fragrances

AntsMarching · 12/01/2018 17:52

Voluspa - suede blanc is my favourite

cupidsabsolutepsyche · 12/01/2018 17:52

I was given a travel set by Rathbornes of Dublin for my birthday, they are absolutely gorgeous. I think the Dublin Tea Rose, Oud & Patchouli one is my favourite, but they are all lovely. Not cheap though 😳

Oooh Zampa which Beauty Pie ones did you like?

Flyingprettycretonnecurtains · 12/01/2018 18:02

If you live near Crawley then the Heyland and Whittle factory shop do them much reduced. Proseco and clemantine is yum.

BellBookandCandle · 12/01/2018 18:30

Jo Malone - Pomegranate Noir or English Oak - are gorgeous and worth every penny.

Molton Brown candles are lovely too (and you usually get a free gift) - pink pepper pod or the gold and Oudh are my favourites - again well worth the money - the scent is fantastic and long lasting.

Tom Ford - Neroli Portofino is another favourite.

Diptyque - Gardenia or Fig tree - I have Gardenia in my bedroom.

Don't bother with "dupes" - they are nothing like the real thing and the fragrance is so weak it doesn't last.

Hebenon · 12/01/2018 18:48

These are amazing, but seriously pricey:

ReverseGiraffe · 12/01/2018 19:01

Another one for Woodwick. I find the crackling really soothing. Current favourite is the Christmas cookie one.

be47 · 12/01/2018 19:30

My all-time favourites are:
White Company Wild Mint
Malin & Goetz Tobacco
Diptique Fois de Bois

Unfortunately I have expensive taste! But my mum now makes her own and tries to copy my favourites for me - might be worth trying that if you have the inclination to get a new hobby? She makes them as gifts too

Candles containing paraffin wax are known to be carcinogenic. Yankee candles included. They can harm our pets too.

See this article.

Most candles make me feel ill, but the Neom ones are ok for me.

Goatlifestyle · 12/01/2018 20:21

Check out candycandles.co.uk

Unbelievable smells!

FairfaxAikman · 12/01/2018 20:23

McKelvie candles - though prefer the reed diffusers.
