To ask if you like mayonnaise?

I don't like mayonnaise. However, it is very difficult to find a pre-packaged sandwich that doesn't include it. Therefore, I must assume that I am the only person in the world who dislikes this particular condiment. Am I right?

Disclaimer: this may actually be a thinly disguised grumble at the fact that sandwich providers love to drown everything in mayonnaise.

Love it.

But hate it in shop bought sandwiches.

Just found out it also has calcium edta in it which has put me off

insancerre · 11/01/2018 19:33

Love it
With chips
With pizza
With pretty much everything
I don't like gravy though

MissClareRemembers · 11/01/2018 19:34

I like it but the best mayo EVER has to be rapeseed oil mayo. It’s amazing.

DandelionAndBedrock · 11/01/2018 19:38

Can't stand mayo OR coriander which is even more limiting.

I really puzzled the people in Leon when I asked for the (meat) Christmas wrap with their vegan mayo. It was great though!

Keletubbie · 11/01/2018 19:39

It's gross and it's everywhere and I hate that.

Laqueue · 11/01/2018 19:41

It's rank. I've described it as Satan's jizz before now.

Trying to find a sandwich without it in is a challenge, when out and about. I even ask for any fast food burgers to be made fresh without it, on the rare occasion I eat them.

ForalltheSaints · 11/01/2018 19:44

I get unusual looks for not having mayo with chips when I am in Belgium. I speak Dutch to some extent, so am looked upon as a local.

wysteriafloribunba · 11/01/2018 19:51

Can't stand the stuff. I don't like 'diet' mayo either. Someone should start a range of mayo free sandwiches. I'd pay a premium to have a choice of something other than cheese.

Pickleypickles · 11/01/2018 19:54

Another mayo hater here 🙂
I dont understand why they cant put the mayo in a little sachet on prepacked sandwhiches so you can have the choice.

EB123 · 11/01/2018 19:56

Yuk, hate it. I like a nice plain sandwich without gunky stuff.

eurochick · 11/01/2018 19:56

It is the devil's jism. Vile stuff.

It's in bloody everything. Even itsu (which used to be my go to place for a mayo-free lunch) have started putting mayonnaisy gunk on some of their dishes.

MiddleClassProblem · 11/01/2018 19:58

Some Americans put it in their cakes...

MagicMoneyTree · 11/01/2018 20:00

I would never buy it or put it on anything myself but I can tolerate it in a sandwich. Although I have been known to knock off points when things are “too mayonnaisey”

0hCrepe · 11/01/2018 20:00

I do, well thought I did till I had some Tesco mayo today. I think they might have mislabelled their pva glue because that’s what it tasted like. Going back to hellman’s.

weepingangel12 · 11/01/2018 20:02

The best thing on fries/chips is a Western US concoction called fry sauce. Mix mayo with a bit of ketchup

I think you'll find that sauce has been around far longer than the US has!"

MiddleClassProblem · 11/01/2018 20:07

A bit like Marie rose sauce...

NeilPetark · 11/01/2018 20:10

Eurgh no. I hate that it’s in all sandwiches.

llangennith · 11/01/2018 20:37

Tesco does a few ‘No Mayo’ sandwiches. I avoid them as I love mayonnaise in a sandwich.

bonnymnemonic · 11/01/2018 20:38

I just avoid all pre-packaged and meeting sandwiches because of mayo. I think it's verging on a phobia of mine. I find pre-packaged wraps are more likely to be mayo free.

Also disappointing is the number of burgers mayo has ruined for me! I usually ask whether the burger comes with mayo and often I get a weird look like 'why would it?' While other times I forget only to get loads of the stuff in there.

If you go to the US, beware pimento cheese! It is cheese and chilli mixed in mayo Envy

underneaththeash · 11/01/2018 20:41

It's absolutely vile..drives me mad that I can't buy a sandwich without it..I will honestly eat anything else (not massively keen on tripe).
It's not just sandwich shops though, we went out for dinner tonight and 5 out of 7 starters had mayo in. Lazy cooking I think.

Facelikeaslappedarse · 11/01/2018 20:41

I could bathe in mayo!
Maybe you can buy a baguette from the bakery section, packet of ham and a packet of sliced cheese from the fridges, bag of leaves and diy it yourself. I do this instead of buying pre packaged, not much more expensive and only takes a second to build it.

LemonysSnicket · 11/01/2018 20:42

Tesco do ones which specify no mayo.

They’re in sandwiches because it lasts longer than butter and keeps the sarnie from drying out.

I love mayo :) I hear Americans hate it.

BlossomRussoAndSixLemeure · 11/01/2018 20:44

I love it.
I just ate some with my chips.
It’s beautiful.

dontcallmelen · 11/01/2018 20:50

I hate the vile stuff too, it’s getting really difficult to find a sandwich without it, can’t stand the greasy gloopy texture & the smell makes me heave, bizarrely I don’t mind salad cream.

ferntwist · 11/01/2018 20:58

I love it!
