To ask if you like mayonnaise?

Areyoufree · 11/01/2018 17:12

I don't like mayonnaise. However, it is very difficult to find a pre-packaged sandwich that doesn't include it. Therefore, I must assume that I am the only person in the world who dislikes this particular condiment. Am I right?

Disclaimer: this may actually be a thinly disguised grumble at the fact that sandwich providers love to drown everything in mayonnaise.

shudder

Would never eat it

SummerRoberts · 11/01/2018 18:18

Love it

BumpowderSneezeonAndSnot · 11/01/2018 18:19

Love it

MiddleClassProblem · 11/01/2018 18:23

DH hates it, the sandwich thing is annoying. Loves aioli though. Maybe they should Gaelic it up instead...

MiddleClassProblem · 11/01/2018 18:23

😂 garlic bit gaelic

formerbabe · 11/01/2018 18:24

I'll eat it but I'm not especially keen on it... Very overrated foodstuff.

MiddleClassProblem · 11/01/2018 18:25

Also had a friend with a phobia of it. Couldn’t go in the fridge if there was some in there

etap · 11/01/2018 18:27

Disgusting stuff.

suchatiredbunny · 11/01/2018 18:34

I hate mayo! YADNBU. M&S used to do a chicken sandwich without mayo but I'm not sure if they still do.

itsbetterthanabox · 11/01/2018 18:35

I think it’s Tesco that do sandwiches that say ‘no mayo’ on a range.

Els1e · 11/01/2018 18:36

I like mayonnaise but don’t like pre packed sandwiches. Ugh.

Beansonapost · 11/01/2018 18:36

I hate it! Disgusting!

GinUser · 11/01/2018 18:37

I like my home-made mayonnaise.
I do not like shop-bought.

jigsawpiece · 11/01/2018 18:42

I can't stand it! It does seem to be the UK mainly that insists on having mayonnaise on everything (or pickle - yuk!) Abroad, it either comes without it or comes in a sachet.

Once I was in Tesco looking through the sandwich ingredients for the umpteenth time (sometimes they put "Mayo" on the front and sometimes they don't, so you have to read the ingredients) when I noticed a sign bragging that they were "Sandwich Retailer of the Year"

I morphed into Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells and sent them a letter telling them what I thought ;) They sent me back a nice letter and a £5.

Last year they launched a sandwich which I like and has no mayo yay! I forget the name but I think it was chicken and had mango chutney in it.

I cannot understand why they don't have more non-mayo. The number of people who don't like it or who are on diets is huge! I think they are afraid it will be too dry without mayo.

Glumglowworm · 11/01/2018 18:43

Hate mayo

And salad cream and mustard and pickle

I can have mayo in tuna mayo and sometimes cheese and onion but only if there’s a good amount of flavour to mayo ratio!

I also hate mint sauce, and not a big fan of applesauce or cranberry (I’ll eat them but would prefer them not to be there!).

I’m not anti sauce at all! I like ketchup and I love gravy and I eat stews and curry and stuff. Just the particular sauces on most sandwiches are gross!

Glumglowworm · 11/01/2018 18:43

Oh and I don’t like chutney eother

Thishatisnotmine · 11/01/2018 18:47

Yes, but I hate lots of it and I am very fussy (a french one I can only find in Waitrose and OcadoBlush). Ugh, a sandwich where sweey gloopy mayo falls out of it. Blugh! Dh, hates it. And he always gets it on meals out, even when asking for none.

misskatamari · 11/01/2018 18:48

I love it. Dh hates it however, so you're not alone. He finds sandwich buying equally frustrating

MarshaBradyo · 11/01/2018 18:53

I only want to eat homemade these days. Not that I have any

limitedperiodonly · 11/01/2018 18:56

It's because mayonnaise stops things falling out of the sandwich and helps stop it drying out OP. I like it but my mum hated it so you're not alone.

lljkk · 11/01/2018 19:16

Try finding a pre-made sarnie without margarine when you hate margarine. Blech!

I love mayo! But can't praise pre-made sarnies; I guess b/c of the margarine taste. Emergency food only.

brownelephant · 11/01/2018 19:20

on chips mayonaise is great
in sandwiches, only if it's just a smear.

10thingsIhateAboutTheDailyMail · 11/01/2018 19:24

I love mayo

But I hate shop bought sandwiches, especially super market ones! 3 pound something for a cold stale disappointment ...

Just make/bring your own?

Have lived a perfectly happy life so far without supermarket sandwiches!Wink

SenecaFalls · 11/01/2018 19:30

on chips mayonaise is great

The best thing on fries/chips is a Western US concoction called fry sauce. Mix mayo with a bit of ketchup.

foxyloxy78 · 11/01/2018 19:31

Yuk. Hate it.
