To ask if you like mayonnaise?

I don't like mayonnaise. However, it is very difficult to find a pre-packaged sandwich that doesn't include it. Therefore, I must assume that I am the only person in the world who dislikes this particular condiment. Am I right?

Disclaimer: this may actually be a thinly disguised grumble at the fact that sandwich providers love to drown everything in mayonnaise.

Love it

DorothyGherkins · 11/01/2018 17:24

Horrible slimey stuff! If I cant find a mayo ftee sandwich I ll buy a single roll from bakery section of supermarket and cheap pack of chicken/cheese, and make my own - its usually quite cost effective. Dont really like butter in sandwiches either! Love it when you find little independent bakers who will make you a fresh roll/sandwich to your exact specification!

Lemonicelolly1 · 11/01/2018 17:25

YANBU. I really hate mayonnaise and the struggle it is to find sandwiches without it. I actually told work I'm allergic so they provided alternative sandwiches during training/meetings without me being just a fussy eater Blush

pastapestoparmesan · 11/01/2018 17:25

Yuck. Unless it’s homemade. That’s delicious.

Lweji · 11/01/2018 17:26

I love it, so I don't complain.

Brie and grapes don't have mayo, I don't think.

Areyoufree · 11/01/2018 17:28

That's more negative responses than I was expecting! Vive la non-mayo revolucion! It is weird though. Only one person I know will use mayonnaise when she makes a sandwich at home. Yet manufacturers seem to assume it's a sandwich essential. How did this happen? And how do we make it stop?

Love it. But bizarrely went off it when pregnant, to the extent of even looking at a jar genuinely turned my stomach. No idea why, but loved it before and loved it after, but when Pregnant it made me gag if I tasted it.

noeffingidea · 11/01/2018 17:32

I'm not keen on it, but I prefer food without it. I don't use it much at home. The problem with mayonnaise is that it makes everything taste the same, like mayonnaise.

inkandstone · 11/01/2018 17:33

Absolutely hate the stuff. I don't even like washing up the spoon/knife when someone else has used it and watching other people eat it makes me feel sick.

Nobrain · 11/01/2018 17:33

Boots do a lovely bbq chicken wrap that has no mayo! It's delicious Smile

SandLand · 11/01/2018 17:34

Hate mayo.
I avoid "mayo free" sandwiches now to, after discovering creme fresh or some other such monstrosity in it place. Mayo, salad cream, creme fresh, ketchup, brown sauce, mustard, pickle can all go do one.

ClaryFray · 11/01/2018 17:34

I love mayo! I put it on everything even a roast much to my DP's dismay.

But it's hard to find a sarnie without it. Even the chicken and bacon one I had today had them in!

UsernameInvalid66 · 11/01/2018 17:35

I don't dislike mayonnaise (unless there's much too much of it), but if I'm perfectly honest I like salad cream better. So does my dad, who lives a much more "middle-class" lifestyle than me. If it's good enough for him...

ButtMuncher · 11/01/2018 17:35

I love mayonnaise but it's a source of much annoyance when out and about with DSS who has an egg allergy. He couldn't have a cheese and ham toastie the other day as it bloody mayo in.

Praisebe · 11/01/2018 17:36

Best sandwich ive found is the tesco ham and cheddar with no mayo but it still has salad and tomatoes and is sooo yummy

pinkpopcorn · 11/01/2018 17:41

I love mayo and also use it in homemade sandwiches

No I don’t. I usually go for the duck wraps or Tesco falafel wraps. I’ve never found a sandwich I find apitising in any way.

Mayonnaise ruins so much food!

tiredbutFESTIVE · 11/01/2018 18:05

Mayo- urgh. That is all. I dislike it wholeheartedly.

spangles1963 · 11/01/2018 18:06

I like mayonnaise but I prefer salad cream. I think most shop bought sandwiches that have mayo in,have far too much. I like tuna mayo sandwiches but increasingly I'm finding that there's more mayo than tuna. You bite into it and the filling slides out the side of the bread. And what's the idea of these ploughman's sandwiches with pickle AND mayonnaise in? Outrageous! Another thing I've noticed is that an awful lot of eating places don't have salad cream, but DO have mayonnaise,e.g. Wetherspoons. Maybe they think it's too 'common' Grin. Whereas places like my favourite greasy spoon cafe have salad cream AND mayonnaise.

ArchchancellorsHat · 11/01/2018 18:08

No, rancid slime. I do use butter though, and I like pickle. Just not mayo or cucumber

randomsabreuse · 11/01/2018 18:10

DD is egg intolerant so sandwiches are a nightmare. Sainsbury's and Marks are useless, Morrison's and Tesco much better.

CharlieSierra · 11/01/2018 18:16

I don't hate it but I'd never use it in a home made sandwich. What makes most bought sandwiches inedible for me is multiple condiments. Mayo and chutney/pickle in the same sandwich!!

SenecaFalls · 11/01/2018 18:17

I love it, but surprised to find from this thread that it is on so many pre-made sandwiches in the UK. It's usually not on pre-made sandwiches in the US (in my experience), probably because of concerns about spoiling.

TheDailyMailIsADisgustingRag · 11/01/2018 18:18

I like mayonnaise, but Dh hates it and a friend of mine also hates it.
