Interview tomorrow but I'm broken

Dailymailshutyamouth · 10/01/2018 16:34

I've got a big interview tomorrow for something I've always wanted to do since graduating.

I've prepared but I just feel so anxious. I feel like they'll laugh at me for thinking I even have a chance. I can't stand my voice and I feel like I'm rambling.

I feel broken this week. I've had a hellish time since breaking up with my narc ex, being sucked back in and then dropped again this weekend. I feel like crying all the time, I can't eat properly. And the worst thing is I can't speak to anyone about it because they're all saying they knew he would leave me again.

I feel like when i go tomorrow they'll just knock me back and so there's no point. Aibu to ring and cancel ? 😔

I have never had half an hour feedback following an interview from an interviewer who turned me down. You must have really made an impression on the panel. You won over their hearts even though they were unable to offer you the role.

Not this time but it will be your turn soon. Keep plugging away. You are on the right track.

What a lovely supportive thread. Don't let the fact you didn't get it bring you down. Apply for other things. Treat it like experience for the real thing. Well done

Italiangreyhound · 12/01/2018 23:52

@Dailymailshutyamouth excellent, onwards and upwards. All best wishes.

IrkThePurist · 12/01/2018 23:54

Very well done OP, you made the shortest short list and they will remember you for the future. I hope you;re confidence gets a boost from this.

Go for it and reach for the stars!

I used to have huge anxieties in situations like this but a simple method was a big smile and saying something like "I'm so sorry I'm so nervous I've been awake all night excited about the interview "
If your mind goes blank and you can't think of an answer say " good question hmmmm and then just take your time

Tell them your nervous then if they are worth their salt they will empathise with you...

This is your new start - if you don't go you will regret it
Good luck - please keep us posted

Somersetter · 13/01/2018 05:04

What great feedback - well done!

daisychain01 · 13/01/2018 06:26

Please keep trying OP, your skills are so needed in the NHS and your passion for your work. You're a diamond!

confusedhelpme · 13/01/2018 06:29

Please don't cancel. This maybe the break you need.

Good luck

morningtoncrescent62 · 14/01/2018 19:48

That's brilliant feedback, OP. It's incredible, really, that you went from feeling broken and unable to face a demanding job interview, to not only going through with it but doing it in style - because there's no way you'd have got feedback like that unless you'd thoroughly impressed them.

Please will you come back and update us on your next interview? Because I'm sure there'll be a next one, and you'll ace it!

OuaisMaisBon · 15/01/2018 20:32

Just imagine what you could have done on a good day, DMShutyamouth ! Congratulations, that feedback is excellent and that they took the time to call you and talk to you like that bodes very well for your future applications!

clumsyduck · 15/01/2018 20:35

That's amazing feedback , a hard decision for them they said and this is you during a Massivley rubbish week on the verge of cancelling it . That should tell you everything you need to know about your chance of getting this role in the future . Beggining of a new start for you op good luck Flowers

Dailymailshutyamouth · 24/01/2018 16:16

Just thought id update you all!

Last week one of the interviews rang me and informed me of a upcoming research post in a similiar department, and suggested i contact the ward with cv. I was given an interview Monday, and then rang me back about an hour after to say they'd like to offer me the role AND additional funding for postgraduate diplomas!!!!!!

I passed the statistics test today and i start tuesday!!!!

Who said heartbreak wasnt a healer!

Thanks for all your kind words, youre the only reason i knew that interviewer in the first place Flowers
