AIBU to be fuming at this CF and my lack of rights?! (Parking thread)

OK so I come home from taking the kids to school and when I arrive home someone is parked in my space. Not just anyone but the little black car that had 3 students in it I had seen driving in on my way out. Now normally student park in our residents only visitors bay which is annoying enough but this time they have parked in my privately owned and numbered parking space. So I cannot use it!

The council won’t do anything the police won’t do anything and even the college won’t do anything!

I honestly can’t believe the lack of rights people have on their own properties! This car is going to be in my space for at least 6 hours!

Why can’t there be some new system where people can call and report vehicles to be towed from their property at a smallish fee and then the owners of said cars have to pay the remaining fee to retrieve their cars?

I'm hoping they are off buying a big bunch of flowers for the OP.
If only, would have made the episode almost worth happening. Too bad this possibility is very unlikely!

DavidBowiesNumber1 · 10/01/2018 11:57

Well done OP Grin
I agree, the cowardly CF students should have just come to your door to sort it out. Bloody namby pambies!

QueenDaisy · 10/01/2018 11:59

Regardless of who owns the car that is now blocked in, they shouldn’t have parked there. They know which Flat the space belongs to, they can’t expect the OP to unblock them if they don’t knock on her door to ask her to move.

jessebuni · 10/01/2018 11:59

I didn’t know for certain it was a student when I blocked them in I just assumed they were because it’s jot the first time. I also knocked on several neighbours doors to check it wasn’t someone visiting them that I could quickly just ask to move. They know where I am. I’m not going to hurl abuse at anyone all they have to do is come ask me to move. I don’t think that’s that unreasonable. Going to get back to that housework now so probably won’t update unless they actually come back.

@ATeardropExplodes

Of course you could have squash and just pretend it is wine

Get off mumsnet you fecking weirdo! Grin

Just kidding obviously!

Hippydippydoo · 10/01/2018 12:00

You have done NOTHING wrong op. I can't believe so many people are trying to find justification for their actions.

It's very simple, they shouldn't have parked there. You have every right to block them in until they apologize.

Telstar99 · 10/01/2018 12:00

When they DO move the car, I am willing to bet they will not park there again LOL! Grin

swingofthings · 10/01/2018 12:00

Swingofthings your halo is waiting for you at the back door.
Ha ha, you misread me, I do things that annoy people all the time, but never mean to. I would never do what these pupils have done, but everything is relative.

I just believe in let bygone be bygone. It's usually small matters that escalate that result in big conflict (can't believe some posters have even started to talk about burning down the car, even if they are joking).

alphajuliet123 · 10/01/2018 12:00

Have you asked your neighbours what they said? Is there a reason they didn't knock on your door?!

DGRossetti · 10/01/2018 12:02

.

Whisky2014 · 10/01/2018 12:04

hippy but she could have at least gone outside. It could have all been done and dusted by now. But no. OP loving the situation for the teens too much. But as I said, I bet shed have acted differently it was someone else (older).

EggsonHeads · 10/01/2018 12:05

Come on people. It's not like she's planning on blocking g them in for a week-just until they ask her to move. Keep us postedOP.

celebrate30 · 10/01/2018 12:05

Park right behind them blocking them in

Shineystrawberrylover · 10/01/2018 12:06

Ask to see their ID when they come knocking at your door. Then you have their name too.

Shadow666 · 10/01/2018 12:06

Why should she go outside? If they are old enough to drive a car, then they are old enough to have the balls to knock and apologize. I’m guessing the driver will come round with his dad in the evening.

2cats2many · 10/01/2018 12:09

Whiskey What's age got to do with it? The bloke that I blocked for an hour in was in his late 40s. He didn't park there again after he was kept waiting.

I think the OP is well within her rights. They'll come knocking eventually.

maddnessintheroost · 10/01/2018 12:11

not at all place marking...

c3pu · 10/01/2018 12:11

You're a better person than me OP, I would have let their tyres down :D

MrTrebus · 10/01/2018 12:12

OP you did the right thing, you're still doing the right thing don't be swayed by naysayers!!

StealthNinjaMum · 10/01/2018 12:12

Op don't feel you have to justify yourself, it wasn't you who parked in someone else's space. Why should you go out of your way to help them now?

bluesu · 10/01/2018 12:15

Heh heh love it. They're probably all sweating in their sixth form suits scared to knock the door

ivykaty44 · 10/01/2018 12:18

I don’t see that it matters who the motorist, they are parked in a private space clearly indicated. All the motorist needs to do is now find out who’s space it is so they can get out of the space.

Op isn’t moving until 7am

swingofthings · 10/01/2018 12:19

I’m guessing the driver will come round with his dad in the evening.
And then they will argue because the students will probably say they tried to resolve the issue by talking to the neighbours but they couldn't find out who the car belong to, that they had come back to move the car and apologise, so dad will raise his voice a bit, OP's OH will get involve and respond in anger, the dad will be angrier, and then who knows how it will escalate...

... all this because OP had to park behind her space (but still in front of her house, so not having to walk miles away) and couldn't be bothered to resolve the matter quickly and peacefully.

Stuff this ' my rights were infringed, it's the end of the world, the culprits need to be severely punish', much better to take a big breath, chill pill, and enjoy the sunshine (if OP is lucky to have some where she is!).

Mamadothehump · 10/01/2018 12:20

Good for you OP! CF's indeed!!

Idontdowindows · 10/01/2018 12:25

I'm beginning to think Swing might be the owner of the car Grin
