Whenever we see news coverage of events like this there are huge crowds outside the venue. I'm wondering if being part of that crowd is an easy thing to do?

Why would you want to go and see two random strangers walk past you and into a church? Confused

MissionItsPossible · 08/01/2018 12:56

Your choice of course but if someone told me they were planning to do that i'd think it would sound a bit pathetic.

FizzyGreenWater · 08/01/2018 12:58

Yes definitely go, you could wear a mask of one of their faces and have an amazing day out

ShotsFired · 08/01/2018 12:58

It's too late @Royalcoronation, he's not going to pick you now. You missed your chance.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 08/01/2018 12:58

Well if you do go, don’t get there the night before with your sleeping bag, planning on camping out to get close. You might get moved on for being homeless.

Does it matter why?

Indeed it is my choice. And I don't give a fuck what people think. I wasn't asking what people thought!

Go for it, you'll always remember it

Yes masks!! What a fab idea. Also I shall be taking a friend, she can be Harry and I shall be Mrs Harry

yes you are - it is in AIBU. And I think you are - and pathetic!

Lemonadesea · 08/01/2018 13:02

that is yes you asking what people thought!

Do go if you want to. Camped out on the Mall with a close friend the night before William and Kate's wedding. Had a brilliant time at the ensuing all night party. Great atmosphere and tremendous " community" feel.
Needless to say will be repeating in Windsor in May.

Royalcoronation · 08/01/2018 13:03

Bugger, although I may stand a bit of a chance if I wear the mask Grin

YANBU unreasonable to want to go if you'd like to - personally I can think of plenty of ways I'd rather spend the day but I am not a fan of big crowds or anyone who's marrying Harry, I had him earmarked for my beautiful DD

I expect that it will be a great party atmosphere for those who wish to go along. Go, have fun and enjoy it.

FairfaxAikman · 08/01/2018 13:03

I was at Zara's wedding in a professional capacity wouldn't have been within 100 miles by choice. To get anywhere near the front you need to turn up ridiculously early.
I wouldn't bother and watch it on the telly.

Elisheva · 08/01/2018 13:04

My friends always go to events like this in London, I live too far away. They always have a great time.

Hiphopopotamus · 08/01/2018 13:04

Actually royalcoronation asking what people thought is exactly what you’re doing Confused

BarbarianMum · 08/01/2018 13:04

I grew up in Windsor and have stood in several such crowds. Smile I wouldn't choose to do it now but there are plenty who do, so you won't be the odd one out by any means.

The reality is that, to get a good spot, you'll need to show up hours early. Some people will bag their spot by sleeping on it the night before (wonder if they'll be cleared off the streets with the other rough sleepers? Hmm) . Anyway, golden rules are:
-suss out where you want to stand ahead of time (are they arriving via main entrance or Long Walk fi)
-Take food and drink, maybe a sitting stick or similar
-ideally go with a friend for company and to keep your place if you need the loo
-expect to hang around for hours and hours for a brief glimpse of somebody - royals, heads of state, celebs etc.

pinkginanyone · 08/01/2018 13:05

Fuck your getting a hammering on here... no need for it ffs.

Go and enjoy yourself. I plan on going over if I can & taking the family with me. We love the royals!!

Royalcoronation · 08/01/2018 13:05

that is yes you asking what people thought!

Directly my question was regarding the ease not whether people thought it was pathetic.

I still don't give a fuck about that.

Prince Andrew is single iirc.

thenightsky · 08/01/2018 13:06

YANBU for wanting to go if that's your thing. I do think it will be hours and hours of standing around bored witless only to glimpse the tops of his and hers heads for a few seconds.

DottyBlue2 · 08/01/2018 13:06

But how will you wee? It's alright for men. They can queue for hours and then pee into a bottle.

Battleax · 08/01/2018 13:07

she can be Harry and I shall be Mrs Harry

You di know the bride's name?

Commuterface · 08/01/2018 13:07

Indeed it is my choice. And I don't give a fuck what people think. I wasn't asking what people thought!

So why are you posting on AIBU then? And sorry but waiting hours for a Royal to walk past you is a bit sad.
