To want to go to Windsor when Prince Harry gets married?

Whenever we see news coverage of events like this there are huge crowds outside the venue. I'm wondering if being part of that crowd is an easy thing to do?

Well, it's not in London.

I know it's not in London. I'm not sure why you are under the impression I think it is?

We are having a 5 day trip to London. I use London very loosely as we stay by Heathrow but travel in to London or wherever. This is why we thought we may go to Windsor on the day of the wedding.

can't understand why anyone would do this. How sad

Just for the giggles.

I randomly went and sat outside buck place when it was some jubilee or other-can't remember which-Brian May appeared on the roof and there was a concert in the garden which was televised outside. I lived in London at the time and had a free afternoon. I even waved a little flag.
I'm not a royalist and it's the last thing I'd normally do, but I really enjoyed it Smile so I say go if you want-it'll be a lovely atmosphere.

lifechangesforeverinjuly · 08/01/2018 14:20

I went to William & Kate's wedding and it was one of the best days ever.. and I didn't even see them.

We watched from Green Park and the atmosphere was amazing. There were parties all over London all day. Memorabilia being handed out etc.

I'd love to go for Harry & Meghan's wedding but I'm thinking it won't be quite the same at 7 months pregnant.

Royalcoronation · 08/01/2018 14:20

amanduhsorry the tone of that reads worse than intended.

If you want to go, go. Don't care about other people, care about what you want.

I wouldn't want to go to a Royal Wedding or hang around the Lindo Wing but I'd rather like to go to a film premiere in London. Not actually see the film but just to see what all the fuss is about.

Royalcoronation · 08/01/2018 14:27

So many people saying the atmosphere makes the day. That's what I see when things like this are televised and always think how amazing it would be to go.

We could all buy copies of the big issue then sit outside clutching them

CaurnieBred · 08/01/2018 14:42

Was on the Mall for William and Catherine's wedding: go the first tube at 5.15 am with my mum and little cousin. As we got to the Mall, people who had been in tents were packing them away, so spaces at the front were opening up, so we got right to the front. We took folding chairs in my wheeled shopper and we had those cardboard persiscope, so those marked our spots.

The atmosphere was great; everyone really friendly and there were loads of portaloos in St James Park so we just took it in turns to go to the loo.

If going by myself, I would consider just taking one of those pitch side pop-up viewing shelters and get there even earlier (here)

myusernamewastaken · 08/01/2018 14:56

I can imagine that the sort of people who do this are the same sort who get up in the middle of the night to go to the Next sale on Boxing day...

NewYearNiki · 08/01/2018 14:58

Indeed it is my choice. And I don't give a fuck what people think. I wasn't asking what people thought!

Look at the thread title. You do and you did ask or this thread wouldn't exist.

Confused

I may make a trip to the UK to co-incide with the wedding. We can go together.

NewYearNiki · 08/01/2018 14:59

You asked AIBU To want to go to Windsor when Prince Harry gets married?

You are getting what people think as you did indeed ask.

x2boys · 08/01/2018 15:00

I can't really imagine why anyone would want to do this either ,My grandparents camped out at Heaton park when Pope John Paul 2 nd visited they must have been in their 70,s then.

DrMarthaJones · 08/01/2018 15:03

Directly my question was regarding the ease not whether people thought it was pathetic

Did you not read your own title? You literally asked were you unreasonable for WANTING TO GO. So stop whining about people answering the question you asked!

snash12 · 08/01/2018 15:09

Why would you want to go and see two random strangers walk past you and into a church? confused they're hardly random people!

ObiJuanKenobi · 08/01/2018 15:12

YWBU to do that, most odd imho.

snash12 · 08/01/2018 15:15

There are some nasty people on this thread!

Over a million people took to the streets of London, specifically to get into the atmosphere of Kate and William getting married.

TWO BILLION tuned in worldwide to watch on TV.

Some of you are so bloody miserable.

NewYearNiki · 08/01/2018 15:40

People went to see the heir to the throne get married.

Harry is another useless hanger on and has created another hanger on to.live off the public purse

Why can't they wed in the US and bloody stay there. Ah no British taxpayer to fund them.

Royalcoronation · 08/01/2018 15:46

So stop whining about people answering the question you asked!

Oh dear. RTFT. I did Smile

I can imagine that the sort of people who do this are the same sort who get up in the middle of the night to go to the Next sale on Boxing day...

Now that really isn't for me. I can't find anything I want to buy in next when it's not all mixed up on sale rails and full of people mass buying, so no next sale queuing for me.

I should add though, I don't think people are sad or pathetic for doing so.

I never shop at Next.

LuckyAmy1986 · 08/01/2018 18:28

I don’t think
You are pathetic! Each to their own - it’s not something I would do as I don’t care about them but mostly because of the crowds. But if that doesn’t bother you then why not? Like pps have said presumably you would have to get there very early.
If you go I hope you enjoy it

MrsMaxwell · 08/01/2018 18:32

Why diese everyone on here have to be so bloody nasty about nothing Confused

I would go but be prepared to get squashed and not see a lot.

I should think the atmosphere will be great though Smile
