AIBU to be annoyed at DH?

So this morning DH asks our two DDs if they'd like a takeaway breakfast. I wasn't fussed but they all fancied one so we told him what we'd like and he set off. The place is a 20 min drive from us and they stop serving breakfast at 10:30. Had a missed call on my mobile from his which was strange as my phone didn't even ring so tried to call him back and just got his answerphone. Thought that was a bit weird but maybe he'd lost his signal or something. Then a random mobile number calls me. It's DH. He's informed me he's on a busy road with an elderly man that had broken down and has fallen. He now has to wait with him for an ambulance and the AA to come but will miss breakfast at the takeaway. That all is no problem you wouldn't just leave someone like that. But his mobile phone has died and he's calling me from the old man's phone so no way of contacting me after this call. I say to him what will I do about Dc's breakfast? Meaning will I just make something, or wait for him or will he sort something else? He then tells me not to get on at him and that our breakfast doesn't matter this situation is far more important. Try to explain that im asking as I won't get to speak to him again as his own phone has died which isn't ideal. The only reason his phone has died is because he's to lazy to finda charger before bed at night which happens regularly. He has loads of chargers that he leaves lying around the house he just can't be bothered bringing one up to the bedroom. I'm then told again not to get on at him just because I want a takeaway (not true, I didn't want one in the first place). So AIBU to be annoyed not about the situation but about the fact his phone has died which happens a lot, he's made me sound really terribly selfish in front of whoever was there and I'm no further forward really knowing what to tell DC's about breakfast? For context they're 6 & 2 so will just be disappointed they're not getting a takeaway.

This thread makes me long for the pre mobile days when we weren't all contactable 24/7.

God, I've never heard of munchie boxes, love that idea. Must have arrived after I left Scotland.

Haggis pakora though didn't and that's mouth droolingly good.

DP is from Scotland originally and we have talked seriously about moving there....I think munchie boxes and the better breakfasts has just clinched it for me! Grin

Dcs will be disappointed! Well they will learn that sometimes things happen and are more important!

ontheedge99 · 07/01/2018 19:23

Oh god that's 15 mins of my life gone

MrsStinkey · 07/01/2018 20:29

I love that this is now a Scottish food thread! Square sausage with black pudding in the middle on a roll yum! White pudding and red pudding also amazing especially done in batter from the chippy. Also a calzone pizza from the Indian takeaway. We have friends from London who had never had one and said it was the most amazing thing they'd ever tasted. Apparently you don't get them down south either?

Oh yes and free prescriptions are obviously needed because of all the heart disease caused by the over consumption of takeaway breakfasts and munchie boxes Grin.

Donner meat calzone is dirty dirty food but my god it’s just amazing

Notreallyarsed · 07/01/2018 20:51

I really really want a munchie box now!

MrsStinkey · 07/01/2018 20:54

Do you not like the thought of it @genever? We usually get a mixed meat one which has chicken tikka, lamb and kebab meat in it so it's not all just kebab meat or a chicken one which is chicken and peppers plus we always get sauce and salad seperate. Not a regular occurrence for us though due to the DDs allergies and the fact they easily feed 4 adults. They are amazing though.

They're so dirty @Notreallyarsed. What kind of munchie box though? Indian is my favourite.

DH (half Scottish) has been lobbying for us to move north of the border for some time. I've never entertained the idea. But this thread is tempting me! I'm going to google munchie boxes I may be some time...

MrsKoala · 07/01/2018 21:24

But is it really a pizza...an actual real calzone pizza with tomato sauce and cheese as well as the Indian food? Or just plain bread dough folded over the meat? (in my mind i am willing you to say the latter, the thought of the former may make me vomit)

Notreallyarsed · 07/01/2018 21:32

@MrsStinkey ooh yeah with garlic dip! Or a chippy one with haggis, black pudding and a pie Grin

Notreallyarsed · 07/01/2018 21:33

MrsKoala it’s the former Blush they do Donner pizzas too

How the hell does anyone manage to keep a 2 and 6 year old without breakfast until 11am? Confused were they not howling the place down?

MrsKoala · 07/01/2018 21:39

Yeah, sorry, that calzone has crossed a line. Vom.

MrsKoala · 07/01/2018 21:40

Agree Donny - my 1,3 and 5yo have lunch at 11.30!

Mxyzptlk · 07/01/2018 22:18

NRTFT
Have the kids had breakfast yet??

TittyGolightly · 08/01/2018 07:30

Newsflash: not all kids are the same.

My 7 year old rarely eats breakfast before the day is in double figures. Her natural biology is wake around 9am, a light breakfast around 10:30/11am, lunch around 3pm and dinner at around 7:30pm.

I myself don’t eat breakfast till around noon.
