Featherdown Farm. 1 week/7 nights in July/August £1200

ReinettePompadour · 06/01/2018 12:31

Sorry its 4 people and 2 dogs.

NancyDonahue · 06/01/2018 12:32

Lizard

Use Airbnb or Owners direct.

Aim for the last week of the holidays - last week of August. Prices can drop then and the weather is usually better than the rest of the holidays.

Keep away from the very touristy areas or right on the coast.

Farm cottages in particular (in the middle of nowhere!) can be great value and kids love the animals.

Bargains to be had Smile

Spikeyball · 06/01/2018 12:33

Nowhere as everywhere accessible is too busy. Staying in 4 bed house in the lakes later in the year for £600. It would be about 1k in summer.

streetlife70s · 06/01/2018 12:34

£1800 all inclusive Cuba 5 of us. 3 kids 2 adults.

mrsp2009 · 06/01/2018 12:37

1 week in Gran Canaria all inclusive toward end of August, 2 adults 1 child £2600

Jacobsbread · 06/01/2018 12:37

2 bed luxury cottage...7 nights is 360. Petrol...2 tanks so 100 quid. Food... eating out for lunch... we prefer an evening meal at the cottage as very small children... days out etc wee tend to budget 500 or so. So probably 1000 all in. Maybe less...
We have an amazing time... location allows for chester zoo, beaches etc.

BarbarianMum · 06/01/2018 12:37

£1200 approx for a week on a canal boat. Never had a canal boat holiday before, probably will never have one again but always wanted to try it.

LardLizard · 06/01/2018 12:37

Nancy thanks for the tips, I abe noticed prices drop at the time of the summer hols but that’s not goons work for us for several reasons
So we are gonna have to go at the start or the middle

Oh Cuba sounds fun too

OP posts:
MotherofTerriers · 06/01/2018 12:46

1800 all inclusive cuba sounds a good deal, I spent about 8500 for 3 of us

LardLizard · 06/01/2018 12:50

How did you get Cuba that cheap ?

OP posts:
mumontherun14 · 06/01/2018 12:51

I've used On the Beach for the past few years and think they are normally the cheapest. Jet 2 are also good at certain times of the year e.g. Jan sale. Last year we got 2 weeks in Tenerife self catering for 4 of us for 1300 flying from Manchester at start of July. But although it was really cheap I felt we spent a fortune on food while we were there. This year we are doing half board in Salou for 3500 . A good bit dearer but at least most of the food is paid up front. Plus we are flying from Glasgow which saves us petrol and overnight stay in Manchester. Can't wait to take the kids to Portaventura and Barcelona we haven't been since they were really small. Ps Meant to say On the Beach lets you pay it up so we book in August for following year and means we can spread the cost xxxx

Delatron · 06/01/2018 12:52

Wow, £1800 for all inclusive to Cuba is cheaper than the Eurocamp holidays I was looking at. I do think it's cheaper to go long haul these days than Europe in the height of summer.

Who did you book through if you don't mind me asking?

Ilove · 06/01/2018 12:53

Cyprus, 2 weeks in august, 5 of us (3 adults, 2. 16 year olds)

Flights £1000
Villa £680 (inc car hire)
Spending while there £1500 (will eat out at least once per day)
Transfers £180

All in, inc spending, £3360

mumontherun14 · 06/01/2018 12:58

One of the other things I've noticed is that some of the hotels only offer child prices for up to 12 years others is is 16 years so worth shopping around if you know which resort you want to go to x

TheSnowballFairy · 06/01/2018 13:02

That Cuba price is amazing.

£6500 for 5 people, AI to Spain for 10 days mid-end of August. It is our only holiday this year as DC1 is doing GCSES.

limon · 06/01/2018 13:03

Possibly green man festival so about £500 for three of us

Also short trip to Brighton and we will do air bnb.

wifeyhun · 06/01/2018 13:10

We are staying near to Disneyland Lizard and yes taking the car over to Vegas. We will need loads of spends though.

That is a brilliant price for Cuba! cheaper than Spain.

LardLizard · 06/01/2018 13:10

Mum on the run, actually it was portaventura and Barcelona as one of my first ideas
What hotel are you staying at ?
I’d ideally like to stay at one of the pa hotels and get fast passes too
