To leave one set of fairy lights up?

Everything else is down except the white fairy lights in the kitchen, round the French doors to the garden. Thinking of leaving g them up permanently as they are so pretty, Aibu?

YANBU. Another all-year round fairy lights person here too!
Strung around kitchen ceiling (we attached small white hooks to the ceiling so you can't see the fixing), star curtain in one window in the den, all around the garden, around hallway mirror. Last month, I hung another star curtain in the sitting room which even DH said should stay. It gives a really pretty glow to the room rather than having lamps on. I think at this time of year we need the comfort that fairy lights bring Wink Smile

MinkowskisButterfly · 05/01/2018 18:29

YANBU I took mine down out of the kitchen but contemplating buying some that don't look Christmas-y!

Dippysnowoman · 05/01/2018 18:38

Jumping on the bandwagon too. . Kept mine up round the dresser and round a mirror. So no OP def def bu😊

Dippysnowoman · 05/01/2018 18:39

Whoops...def def NOT bu (Sorry)

TheOtherGirl · 05/01/2018 18:42

Oh and I'm leaving up our wreath of eucalyptus leaves finished with a plain, grey linen bow on our front door. It looks really stylish and makes the house look 'dressed'.

Chasingsquirrels · 05/01/2018 18:44

The sets round the doors in my lounge haven't come down for about 5 years. I don't switch them on year round and not in the summer.

ChristmasCakes · 05/01/2018 18:48

Because of this thread I am going to take mine out of the Christmas box and string them along the headboard of my bed Xmas Smile

Chasingsquirrels · 05/01/2018 18:49

Oh I'm liking over the headboard ChristmasCakes

guestofclanmackenzie · 05/01/2018 18:52

Weve left two sets of fairy lights up around the top of the kitchen cupboards in the spirit of Nigella.

We may or may not take them down in the summer...

Freshprincess · 05/01/2018 18:52

Accidentally forgot to put a plain white set away last year so kept them up and I love them. I'm currently considering whether my star shaped ones are a bit too Christmassy for all year round.
I've also got some holly still in vases which I'm going to leave for a little bit longer. It's still winter so I can get away with it.

Here you go. Smile

You will struggle to buy any now (there are a few in Wilkos, but they are mostly 240 lights plus... Argos have a few smaller sets.)

Cheap as chips too, all reduced. Grin

Tippz · 05/01/2018 19:09

Sorry, meant to say, you will struggle to buy any now, in the shops, but Argos still have loads. Smile

Probably won't have for long though, so maybe best to get them in the next few days!

Niskasrevenge · 05/01/2018 19:21

Ooh, I'd like some permanent, gently glowing, non-garish fairy lights around my French windows. They'd look lovely. Can anyone recommend some good quality ones?

Sallystyle · 05/01/2018 19:22

I have got a lot I leave up all year around.

Iooselipssinkships · 05/01/2018 19:22

Guilty of this and shocked to a see a thread about it let alone so many others doing the same! I have them a lot around the house in various guises. They make me happy! Warm glow or cool led light? I'm a warmie all the way (lighthearted)

Niskasrevenge · 05/01/2018 19:23

(The Argos ones look a bit obviously Christmassy.)

Tippz · 05/01/2018 19:46

Most fairy lights are gonna look a BIT Christmassy! Grin

The clear ones look fine. Not necessarily Christmassy (unless you put them on a Christmas tree!)

These are mine. I don't think think they look too Christmassy. They came from wilko, I think they were quite cheap.

That picture is massively outing Grin
I'm off for a name change

I keep my indoor lights up all year; they look gorgeous, warm up and twinkle the house.

Warm white all over and a twig tree in the hall with red and warm white , I wouldn’t be without it.

Bea · 05/01/2018 20:07

I left the fairy lights... White stars up around my kitchen windows from 2 Xmas ago!! Very cheery and twinkly! Fairy lights aren't just for Christmas!!

stickytoffeevodka · 05/01/2018 20:19

I have some warm white flower ones up in the bedroom year-round.

Donnerkebabbler · 05/01/2018 20:25

I left one set up around a window with voile drape 6 years ago and they look lovely all year round

jazzandh · 05/01/2018 20:31

I have curtain lights over my patio doors year round and twig lights.

I have kept some other winter decorations up as well - copper twig tree etc. Some "snowmen figures"......

I also change the front door wreath to a frosty winter looking one...........

well that's my excuse anyway!

UsedtobeFeckless · 05/01/2018 20:52

Love mine - l have Christmas ones and permenant ones ... the flower ones made out of little dried leaves are fantastic - l've got some red heart ones from ikea too ... Hands off the lights! Grin

Spangles7 · 05/01/2018 20:56

The really old fashioned Christian tradition is that Christmas season doesn't end til candle mass on 2nd Feb, so fairy lights and wreaths are absolutely fine! Want to keep my tiny stars on a copper wire up on the kitchen window too Smile
