AIBU to believe raping 100 women is worth more than nine years in jail?

I wonder how many years he'd have gotten had it been men he'd raped.

In fact let's face it, if men were raped and sexually assaulted as much as women are we'd have solved this crisis already.

BoreOfWhabylon · 04/01/2018 17:34

I think so, prickly.

@prh47bridge will know for sure though

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 04/01/2018 17:35

Yeah all the naysayers who claim we don’t need Feminism and especially in the UK.

The whole thing is fucking disgusting, him, the police, the criminal ‘justice’ system. Men, and handmaidens enabling men.

He’ll rape again, not that the parole board will give a shit, it’s only women, it’s not like we count.

PyongyangKipperbang · 04/01/2018 17:35

As Crafty says, he has only (only!) been convicted of 19 assaults. The fact that he is suspected of 100 is not relevant to sentencing or parole.

However, imo the amount of time he has served is still not enough for 19 assaults and I agree that he sounds like he will continue to be a risk to women and should not be freed. He will be back inside in no time but sadly some more poor women will have to suffer at his hands first

PhoebefromFriends · 04/01/2018 17:36

Thanks Bore I'm going to email him. Is anyone on Twitter? Is he getting lots of tweets? I might have to resurrect my old twitter account to tweet him.

BoreOfWhabylon · 04/01/2018 17:40

Ooh, his constituency office is in Aylesbury and is open until 7pm

100 Walton Street, Aylesbury, HP21 7QP
Tel: 01296 482102

Popchyk · 04/01/2018 17:41

sarahjconnor, I actually think you are right with that. He'll just be more careful in future.

So more drugs given to women and more covering of his tracks.

I don't think anybody in their right mind would think that he won't attack again. This from the Independent

"Warboys is understood to face heavy restrictions over a licence period of over a decade, which will see him jailed again for breaching conditions".

I'd have to wonder what those heavy restrictions are, given that someone who had killed two women previously managed to murder a third, despite similar "restrictions".

And victims of sexual assault and rape are often asked "Why didn't you get a cab?". It enrages me.

AnnieAnoniMouse · 04/01/2018 17:41

The parole board did not have to let him out. They could have left him in prison for life

Yep and you’d wonder if none of them have mothers, wives, sisters, daughters... what the fuck were they thinking?

viques · 04/01/2018 17:45

If anyone ever doubted that the powers that be really don't like women very much........

Absolutely horrific.

If you substituted any of the following : gay men, dogs, horses, cats, black men , Muslims, ginger haired men, Irish men, Jews, Catholics, Christians for the word women this evil predator would be staying inside until the next ice age. Why is it that deliberate, extended, sustained and calculated attacks on women are viewed with so much distain? It is almost as though a lot of people think women deserve to be raped, assaulted and humiliated just because we are women. Those old time biblical patriachies have a lot to answer for, they seem to have poisoned the mindset of a great many men.

PricklyBall · 04/01/2018 17:45

I've sent an email.

For anyone who wants to make sure their e-mail is "Tory friendly" (given that we don't want him dismissing all of us out of hand as bleeding heart liberals), here's a Telegraph link (as opposed to the Guardian one upthread).

BoreOfWhabylon · 04/01/2018 17:46

Have left messages at his constituency office and HOC office phone nos. Am now composing email.

megletthesecond · 04/01/2018 17:48

Yanbu. I did a double take at the reception TV as I was leaving work. Assumed I'd misread the headlines but turns out I didn't.

I someone legal can explain why this has happened. Preferably in language a non-law type person can understand.

Popchyk · 04/01/2018 17:48

I'd like to see the parole board actually taking these men into their own homes if they consider that they are actually fit for release. For, say, six months or so.

We'd see a lot fewer fit for release decisions then, that's for damn sure.

OuchBollocks · 04/01/2018 17:51

The other consideration of course is that he has learned that leaving his victims alive gets him caught :( I will be emailing the SoSJ. Has anyone started a parliamentary petition yet?

GoReylo · 04/01/2018 18:01

I hope he will be released under very severe conditions. But let's face it, of course he will attack more women. Almost definitely while under a protected new identity. And some of them won't report it, and some won't be believed by the police when they report it, and maybe some won't even be believed in a court case. But one man getting his freedom is far more important than the safety of countless women!

CoraPirbright · 04/01/2018 18:03

I am aghast, furious and upset in equal measure. How, HOW can this be ok??

Thank you so much for the links provided. Have emailed Lidington. Fingers crossed something happens.

Dozer · 04/01/2018 18:05

What can we do: write to MPs and get them to write to the Justice Secretary / Home Secretary?

BoreOfWhabylon · 04/01/2018 18:06

Good idea Dozer. I'll get on to my useless MP now

PricklyBall · 04/01/2018 18:07

Have had an auto-reply saying that emails to him in his capacity as SSfJ will be forwarded to the Ministry of Justice and he will deal with them from there. Good idea about involving one's own constituency MP, Dozer - in the past, mine has taken things up with the relevant minister on my behalf.

Eltonjohnssyrup · 04/01/2018 18:10

I someone legal can explain why this has happened. Preferably in language a non-law type person can understand.

Labour created indeterminate sentences with minimum terms in 2005. It was a very sneaky practice aimed at making the Criminal Justice system look tough at the point of sentencing for really horrible crimes (Baby P's mother was another case).

Basically at the time of sentencing they say 'Look how tough we are, we can keep them in jail forever if we want'. But the intent is they hoped after the outrage died down they could realise them after fairly short terms on the quiet.

They were an awful idea intended to con the public. Blame Labour.

Dozer · 04/01/2018 18:10

If an MP writes to a minister, rather than most citizens doing so directly, the etiquette is for a minister to sign the reply.

Were there petitions at the time of sentencing? Could those be revived? To change sentencing?

Elendon · 04/01/2018 18:12

Absolutely GoReylo

Great post!

Davespecifico · 04/01/2018 18:13

Does anyone in the know about such things understand how the parole boards determine the level of threat someone poses on release?
I presume in this case they can say that he's been well behaved, shown remorse and empathy and will longer have a cab.
But short of castrating him, how can they know that his urges are u dear control? They can't possibly.

mrsglowglow · 04/01/2018 18:14

It's just not right.when i first saw the breaking news headline, i thought it was that he was being released as he was convicted in error. He actually committed these crimes and is being released. Who else thinks the chances of him re offending are very very likely? I do.

Eltonjohnssyrup · 04/01/2018 18:23

I don't think he can be prosecuted either because the Director of Public Prosecutions at the time set those allegations aside. That was Kier Starmer. Who is currently the Shadow Secretary of State in Corbyn's shadow cabinet.
