Although here is some advice based on the lack of information given.
Be rude to the people on the phone whether it's the bank or the hotel, and expect them to also be less than helpful

Pickleypickles · 02/01/2018 19:51

Im not surprised OP was rude when everyone is berating her!
pisacake your post is disgusting, please engage brain before fingers.

MissConductUS · 02/01/2018 19:51

They've simply blocked room on your card to charge up to the 370. If they didn't they might try to charge your card on checkout to have it denied because you'd already reached your credit limit. After you check out, the block is lifted. As others have mentioned, this is a preauthorization, not a charge.

PlaydoughBarbershop · 02/01/2018 19:53

Drip. Drip. Drip....

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 02/01/2018 19:54

delete your post OP, it's giving me cancer. what the hell?

Have we had an invasion or what?

Nearly every thread I've been on today has had some kind of fuck wittery going on.

It's getting on my wick.

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 02/01/2018 19:57

apologies for some of the pure nastiness directed at you for no reason what so ever

I apogise for the numpties on this thread that have insulted you for no reason at all apart from their own ignorance and boredom

Are you the conscience of MN or something? Confused

No one was rude to the OP until she called everyone 'bitchy' as far as I can tell.

TenancyTroublesAgain · 02/01/2018 20:05

"You're pretty rude OP. I'd work on that, if I were you."

I don't blame them! Read the responses!

cathycake · 02/01/2018 20:08

That's your opinion Bette Davies eyes ...your answers were very curt too. I'd sooner have empathy and a conscience rather than making a simple question asked by op into a witch hunt for entertainment

Op asked a question very politely and was responded to very curtly (by you included ) demanding a full explanation. Oh let's not forget the 'take the post down it's giving me cancer' comment.

Classy... very classy.

Vitalogy · 02/01/2018 20:22

One of the worst threads I've seen for nastiness. For no good reason either.

43percentburnt · 02/01/2018 20:27

As others have said it's probably a pre authorisation in case you run up a bill.

LouHotel · 02/01/2018 20:28

Im a commercial manager for a hotel - the £50 would be a pre authorisation unless it was a debit card it just holds the money in tiur account.

I imagine either your card has been charged in error and was supposed to be £37.00 or you wemt buck wild in the hotel bar.

If you camt her through on the phone then email them.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 02/01/2018 20:29

It's like there's a competition of who can be the meanest on the most innocuous of threads. I've been here a long time but have never known it as bloody nasty.

Snowman41 · 02/01/2018 20:36

The £50 was paid in cash. Not an authorisation transaction.

Theresnonamesleft · 02/01/2018 20:37

I read it as the room was paid cash and the deposit was £50 on the card.

Would preauthorise count after check out when the bill had been paid?

DropZoneOne · 02/01/2018 20:39

OP said the night out (?) was paid in cash after which the hotel asked for £50 on the card.

Snowman41 · 02/01/2018 20:46

Oops sorry I misread

Ok so the room was paid in cash and they took a £50 deposit by card?

In that case the OP either damaged the room, ran up massive room service charges or was overcharged.

It's a shame OP hasn't been willing to give any info or to call the hotel to help solve the problem.

YeahYeahz · 02/01/2018 20:46

How much was the room????
What hotel was it????
What is your height and weight???

Answer us woman!!! Answer us!!!!

Right that's it! Someone grab the op so the rest of us can beat her with sticks!!! How DARE someone start a thread without all the relevant details!!!

Some Of the responses On here are crazy! Poor OP

Snowman41 · 02/01/2018 20:58

Oh come on, if the relevant information is missing the thread is pointless.

Vitalogy · 02/01/2018 20:58

I reckon the hotel cost £87 total but someone accidentally punched in an extra zero, thus £370. Anyway we'll probably never know now, as OP won't be back and who can blame her!

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 02/01/2018 21:03

That's your opinion Bette Davies eyes ...your answers were very curt too

Which ones?
