Haven't called them yet called My bank and panicked and reported it to them

Why the panic? That is a slightly odd reaction. Just ring the hotel.

This is going to be another cancel the cheque, isn't it?

cathyclown · 02/01/2018 19:10

FFS.

khajiit13 · 02/01/2018 19:10

Why on earth didn't you phone them and ask?

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 02/01/2018 19:11

The hotel is just automated line nothing more

Saying what? Which hotel is it?

shouldwestayorshouldwego · 02/01/2018 19:11

What is the usual rate for the room and do you have a receipt for the cash?

Chewbecca · 02/01/2018 19:14

How much was it supposed to be?

MarmaladeIsMyJam · 02/01/2018 19:16

How much did you actually pay them in cash? And why cash out of interest?

Ikanon · 02/01/2018 19:18

What's the AIBU? For quick responses post in Chat.

RB68 · 02/01/2018 19:21

If booked through booking dot com we have had a similar issue with it paid with a different card locally then charged through on card that was used to secure rooms. Sorted itself out eventually but too a little while, bank in mean time credited us till was sorted

LIZS · 02/01/2018 19:22

Email them enclosing any booking confirmation of the room rate. Did you get a receipt?

frasier · 02/01/2018 19:23

Email the hotel if phone line is automatic only. Then you'll have a written reference of what happened and be able to prove when you let the hotel know.

FrivolouslyFancifulFannie · 02/01/2018 19:23

so you need to work out what they have overcharged you

rate of room for stay minus £50 deposit is that right then take it away from the £370, see what has been overcharged then see if they have either doubled it and charged twice or google the breakage/damage charges if they are online to see if its that or just simply typed in the wrong amount and charged it.

If you cant get through on the phone email reception now while you are onto the bank

ADishBestEatenCold · 02/01/2018 19:24

Were there other members of your party staying in other rooms? Could their charges have gone on your bill?

Also when did you stay there? Do you know their room price for that period?

SnowFairyDust · 02/01/2018 19:25

I worked in a hotel and managed a front desk for many years, this is very common.

How much was your room rate?
How did you pay for your accommodation?
Did you give them a card when you checked in?

Snowman41 · 02/01/2018 19:25

Not much point in calling the bank until you speak to the hotel rally is there?

Snowman41 · 02/01/2018 19:27

Thanks for all the bitchy answers very helpful.

How do you expect people to help when you are being cagey with the details people need to help?

ClosdesMouches · 02/01/2018 19:28

WTF
Hmm

Dermymc · 02/01/2018 19:29

You will be able to contact the hotel in some way. Stop being obtuse and call or email them.

MyDcAreMarvel · 02/01/2018 19:30

If you answer the question people may be able to help.
How much was the room?
Did you use a mini bar?

HotelEuphoria · 02/01/2018 19:30

DH stays in hotels several times a week, there are frequent mistakes, all IHG chain, mainly when he stays in the Holiday Inns rather than Crown Plaza, I just ring them up and pick the Accounts option, usually rectified within about....errr two days.

IHG take note!

jelliebelly · 02/01/2018 19:31

Check your receipt and ring the hotel reception to get it sorted!

CompassionateKebab · 02/01/2018 19:35

Did you not get an invoice when you checked out?

InsomniacAnonymous · 02/01/2018 19:35

What was the room rate?

Wineasaurous · 02/01/2018 19:36

@HotelEuphoria that's because all our refunds have to go through Germany and need to be agreed by the powers that be 🙄
