It’s not possible without spending a small fortune, surely?

Uber?

RavingRoo · 31/12/2017 12:12

You need to be there 3 hours before checkin? Think you can if you go from woolwich arsenal on the Gatwick express.

SoupDragon · 31/12/2017 12:14

The 8:02 from Victoria arrives at Gatwick at 8:48 and costs £16.20 per adult according to the Trainline app.

SoupDragon · 31/12/2017 12:15

Oh, the flight is at 9am,...

SoupDragon · 31/12/2017 12:16

There’s a 5:02am train too

Spartak · 31/12/2017 12:16

The Travelodge at Gatwick cost me £30 when I booked a few weeks in advance. Go the night before.

19lottie82 · 31/12/2017 12:16

Uber says £100.

JeReviens · 31/12/2017 12:17

How many of you? What would the cost be?
Might be worth a cheap overnight hotel on the Saturday instead?

LIZS · 31/12/2017 12:17

Gatwick express runs all night from Victoria. Stopping services start about 5am.

Potplant1 · 31/12/2017 12:17

If you mean Arsenal in N London you should be fine: Victoria Line from Finsbury Park then Gatwick Express from Victoria. Victoria Line will be running all night. You could even get the Piccadilly Line from Arsenal and change onto the Victoria Line, I believe it too runs all night now. Try the TfL travel planner to check

SaucyJack · 31/12/2017 12:18

Where is Arsenal in relation to London Vic?

The London Vic to Brighton NE coaches stop at Gatwick.

Unhomme · 31/12/2017 12:18

Go to national rail and search Victoria to Gatwick. You can easily get to Gatwick for 7...and get a cab or uber to Victoria.

If there are more of you it might be worth getting a taxi all the way through.

Either way, I don't think it would be that much more expensive than a normal day?

MojoMoon · 31/12/2017 12:20

A small fortune is more than the cost of your flights?

Easybus starts running at 4am from Victoria so you could Uber to Victoria and then take that. It's cheap.

mercurymaze · 31/12/2017 12:21

check to see if the trains run all night they get the train from Kings cross straight to gatwick.

LineysRumBaba · 31/12/2017 12:21

Even with just a carry on bag, at Gatwick I've found that ideally you need to leave 1.5 hours spare to get into airport terminal, clear security queues and get to gate on time. I know Easyjet are getting stricter about gates.

Scribblegirl · 31/12/2017 12:24

I'd get the 5.30am from Victoria to Gatwick, gets you in at 6.08am.

Night tube runs on Saturday night/Sunday morning so you'd just need to get the tube from Arsenal to Finsbury Park and change for the Victoria line to Victoria. Would probably need to leave 4.30 but should be doable.

mercurymaze · 31/12/2017 12:24

Before//////Leave After/1/0//

see this above, the trains run from kings cross and are cheaper than gatwick express ime

extinctspecies · 31/12/2017 12:41

Bloc hotel in Gatwick the night before.

Very cheap, you are right by the gates.

Just checking that you don't have your own car as you don't say either way in your post.

Our nearest two airports are 40 and 70 mins away and I've always found drive and park to be cheapest or only slightly more expensive than other options, especially if more than one person is travelling and by far the quickest and most convenient option, especially if early/late start/return.

BlackBetha · 31/12/2017 12:51

Another recommendation for staying in an airport hotel the night before if you can. Bloc or Yotel are great for the South terminal (both are inside the terminal building itself; tiny rooms but who cares for one night), and the Premier Inn is just across the road from the North terminal.

Worth every penny if you can afford it; you get a few hours more sleep, and it saves the stress of traffic jams/trains being delayed and worrying about missing your flight.

littlepeas · 31/12/2017 12:53

I don't know the answer, but I didn't know Arsenal was an actual area of London! I always thought that the football team name was arsenal, as in a collection of weapons (and considered it clever and original compared to all the other teams that just have their town and 'united' or whatever). Boo.

KC225 · 31/12/2017 12:55

Just before Christmas I got to Gatwick at half one. Day in seat with mass amount of people drinks and papers and read and dozed until check in opebed at 4.15. You'll be surprised how many people do it and all ages too.

KioskKeithForPresident · 31/12/2017 13:08

Depends on what you call a small fortune and how many of you are travelling but hiring a car all the way particularly in the early morning maybe cost effective.

Blacklane do it for £64 but if you have the time to googl e around you can get a good deal. By the time you add up the train fares and taxis/tubes to Victoria etc it soon adds up so it can be cheaper than you think to get a car.

It isn't really. The area is Highbury. The tube was renamed Arsenal after the football team so if you said Arsenal people would know what you mean. Like Craven Cottage or White Hart Lane
