It’s not possible without spending a small fortune, surely?

Is it Highbury area or Woolwich Arsenal though?

ForalltheSaints · 31/12/2017 13:23

Night Tube, trains all night from Victoria, and you can use an Oyster card all the way.

TfL Journey Planner offered me 0601 or 0621 start, c80 minute journey for both (0744 arrival for the second one).

blueskyinmarch · 31/12/2017 13:26

You will not have to be at the airport 3 hours in advance of the fight. They often don't even let you check in bags util 2 hours before the flight. Two hours is loads, 1.5 hours is perfect and 1 hour is doable but cutting it fine. I say this as someone who hates being late for anything.

Amanduh · 31/12/2017 13:33

Tube and train. Simple

BackforGood · 31/12/2017 13:36

Same as LittlePeas. Thanks for explaining Kiosk Smile

BarbaraofSevillle · 31/12/2017 13:40

Doesn't it depend where they are going and whether they have luggage or are using off site parking?

It's taken me an hour before from arriving at the off site parking area at Manchester to find a space, wait for the transfer bus, drop luggage off and get through security, which doesn't leave much time to find the gate.

Many people on a 9 am flight would want to buy breakfast at the airport too.

3 hours is obviously not necessary if you are going somewhere like Edinburgh or Jersey with hand luggage only, but I'd allow much more for international, off site parking and luggage drop off.

Don't forget the possibility of delays on the way there too. There's so much scope for roadworks, accident or breakdown and the consequences of a missed flight can cost hundreds if not thousands to book new flights. I'd rather be three hours early to the airport than three minutes late.

Good point Empress - but I would have though you'd refer to Woolwich or Woolwich Arsenal rather than Arsenal for Woolwich Arsenal?

Babypythagorus · 31/12/2017 13:47

Hi,

Thanks all!

Yes, Arsenal Tube in Highbury, and no we won’t have a car. It seems like there’s lots of options though, so thank you all!

Also a good point!

Are the running on new year's day? Do you mean tomorrow?

SemolinaSilkpaws · 31/12/2017 13:53

Yep another one saying getting an overnight stay, most of the hotels nearby away have shuttle buses all night.

FittonTower · 31/12/2017 13:57

I managed to get to Gatwick for a morning flight from Sheffield easily enough. It can't be that tricky from London surely?

KioskKeithForPresident · 31/12/2017 14:00

Seriously - research booking a car/taxi to Gatwick in advance! It's cheaper than you think and the more travellers there are the cheaper it is. You tend to get better rates with specialist airport companies than black cabs/normal taxi firms based in central london.

Google airport cars/Gatwick cars.

Bunbunbunny · 31/12/2017 14:03

Gatwick express doesn’t run all night (I use it as a commuter train)!

Why didn't you think this through before booking the flight?

I'm in Highbury too. We recently landed at Gatwick in the middle of the night and took a pre-booked taxi as far as Zone 3, dropping me off on the way. Can't remember name of firm but it was bookable online and showed up first or second in Google for something like "Gatwick Airport taxi".

There were 6 of us and it was £18 each, pre-booked, so likely a bit less just to Highbury. If there are just one or two of you it may not be worth it. But for 4 or 5+ you might as well as it will only be slightly more than everybody's tube, train fare

Joey7t8 · 16/10/2018 11:56

Tube (15 mins) and Gatwick Express (30 mins) is surely the obvious choice?

Hoppinggreen · 16/10/2018 11:58

Me too little I didn’t know it was a place
Anyway, not helpful sorry

NoNoCharlieRascal · 16/10/2018 12:00

Come on people, read the date. It's just been reanimated for spam advertising!

Hoppinggreen · 16/10/2018 12:19

Reported it

serbska · 16/10/2018 12:23
