To have only just realised I could be pregnant

Posting for traffic. Name says it all.

DP and I have only DTD once since DS was born, about 2 months ago due to combination of him working away and cosleeping making it difficult. We didnt use protection as I'm EBF and it was kind of a 'fuck it' moment.

Last two days have had awful gas, bloating and weird metallic taste in my mouth. Was burping endlessly in the car and DP said 'haha wow the only time I've seen you this bad is when you were pregnant'. It was just a passing comment but thinking about it I do feel exactly as I did a year ago when in first trimester.

Oh God I'm pregnant aren't I?! I need to take a test but it's 1am and I'm panicking. 5mo is asleep next to me.

Don't even know what I'd do. I'd love another baby but how the hell would we cope with a just 1 year old and a newborn? Oh lordy.

No theeagle. Actually true if a slightly humourous slant on it.
Kids a year apart are completely normal in some non distant parts of the world and nothing to be afraid of.

AReindeerNamedDave · 31/12/2017 12:06

Themiscyra well it made me chuckle anyway Grin

TheEagle · 31/12/2017 12:18

I’m Irish so no stranger to large families with small age gaps.

At one stage my MIL had a 3 yo, 2 yo, 1 yo and a newborn. She had another 2 children later on as well.

The “no television” joke is rife here and gets a bit tired.

TheEagle · 31/12/2017 12:18

And I had 3 under 20 months so I’m certainly not afraid of small age gaps Grin

Placemark BlushBrew

GummyGoddess · 31/12/2017 13:01

Your midwife should be shot! Breastfeeding isn't a contraceptive, all the midwives I saw near the end of pregnancy took great pains to inform me of this fact and were insisting that I think about contraception before baby was born in case it slipped my mind! All my friends with babies had the same advice from their midwives and the ones who had their babies in hospital had yet another chat about it before they were discharged.

Even if nobody had said that to me I'd have found out as I fell pregnant while still breastfeeding my first Smile

NewPuffin · 31/12/2017 13:02

You'll be fine OP! I'm not placemarking at all 16.5 months between DH and his sister, they're fine!

Tobebythesea · 31/12/2017 13:12

I hope you get the result you want Smile

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 31/12/2017 14:20

I keep checking in to find out the result...

apostropheuse · 31/12/2017 14:32

I had four children under the age of 4.5

It was hard work of course, but not as bad as you might think!

twotired · 31/12/2017 14:35

good luck Thanks

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 31/12/2017 14:38

GummyGoddess

I agree! Ridiculous advice. Even if there is some element of truth in it, it’s better to be safe and double up on contraception rather than rely on that old wives tale.

I was told at least 4 times that I needed to think about contraception.

Prusik · 31/12/2017 14:41

Hope you're doing ok op! Ds was about 4 months when I fell pregnant. I'm about four weeks from my due date now so haven't got any positive or negative stories to tell but do know how you feel

Littlechocola · 31/12/2017 14:41

Small gaps are fab.
I fell for the breastfeeding myth too.

ThePinkPanter · 31/12/2017 14:43

Fingers crossed you get the answer you want OP!

Nurse15 · 31/12/2017 14:45

Placemarking as I've been sucked in now 😂

slapmyarseandcallmemary · 31/12/2017 14:45

Good luck Thanks

BastardGoDarkly · 31/12/2017 14:47

Don't mind me, just popped in, to Erm... Place Mark.

NobodyKnowsTiddlyPom · 31/12/2017 14:49

I had 16mths between my girls (planned pregnancies with both) and whilst it was hard for the first year, they get on really well most of the time - although they do argue a lot too!

MiddleClassProblem · 31/12/2017 14:56

Place marking too!

GreenPurpleRed · 31/12/2017 14:58

I would have been gutted but I've got nearly 5 year gap with my 2 and i think that's perfect.

Goodluck with finding out OP!

Ninabean17 · 31/12/2017 14:58

Whatever the result, I wish you luck op.

Dolwar · 31/12/2017 15:20

My sister's friend and her sister were so close in ages they were even in the same year at school! They were best friends which was nice

LilQueenie · 31/12/2017 15:28

Not long found this thread. I wish you good luck OP and hope all is well.

ohfourfoxache · 31/12/2017 15:30
