To wonder how Ive gone this long without having an electric blanket.

Got it for xmas and its the best thing ever, although I never want to leave my bed again. Grin
Minus 10 outside currently but Im so cosy.

I suffer from lots of aches and pains and this is easing them so much.

Has anyone discovered anything this year that they could now no longer be without?

My UGGS! So warm!

BahHumbygge · 29/12/2017 10:30

@Loonoonow
Why don't you try the Scandinavian thing of having two separate single duvets on a double bed? You can have the lightest tog weight & your DH could have a winter weight one.

Ooo what a good thread

Theworldisfullofidiots · 29/12/2017 10:37

Ice cream scoop. The heat of your hand on the handle heats up the scoop. Its fab. My sister bought it back from the states for me.

mygorgeousmilo · 29/12/2017 10:38

Dry shampoo. Where has it been all my life? So much quicker to get ready, the mornings feel way less frantic.

First class train travel - I didn't realise I was traveling from London the day of the exodus for Glastonbury and a lovely guard let me sit in first class, it's really hard to go back in standard now, especially on my usual route which is always packed.

My car! Passed my test this year due to having to move somewhere rural with no public transport. It was a necessity if I was to live here. I've brought up my daughter and survived the first part of my adult life without ever driving. Now I couldn't be without it. Total luxury not having to rely on a bus or taxi or train. I love driving.

Amazon prime subscribe and save - get cat food, toilet roll etc delivered every month and save 15% if 5 or more items. No more running out of cat food!
I also discovered Irregular Choice shoes this year (thanks to S&B on mumsnet of course) now have 6 pairs. I know some people hate them (all my family!) but I love them they just cheer me up every time I wear them.

I8toys · 29/12/2017 11:09

Alexa and music unlimited. Method foaming handwash - even my dad loves it. Rituals foaming shower gel - great for shaving parts too!

CoffeeAndCupcakes85 · 29/12/2017 11:43

Woolfrai · 29/12/2017 11:48

A wildlife camera - I had no idea how many things were living in and visiting my garden

The Curly Girl method - heard of it, but never truly implemented it until this year.

Agree with PP about Alexa & home automation being a game changer.

An egg boiler gadget - I don't eat eggs, but my husband does and raves about it.

Spartaca · 29/12/2017 12:16

Tumble dryer...OMG
Online food shopping weekly via an app.
Bluetooth enabled car with audiobooks for the kids
Amazon Prime, especially now it is on the Apple TV box. Worth the £8 a month for postage, films and music for the car.

Klean Kanteen insulated mug...lasts me all day with black coffee
Bugaboo base (second hand) for car seat

All things I thought I didn't need but have made my life so much easier!

Is this like a motion sensor camera? Are you rural? i like the idea of it but not sure theres enough wildlife in my garden to justify.

The Curly Girl method - heard of it, but never truly implemented it until this year.

I want to try the curly girl method, I only heard of it recently on Mumsnet.

So many great ideas !

@HeyhoIndigo

My son has blepharitis and I was recommended baby shampoo however this is a real faff as he hates having it done if there was anything easier to use I would appreciate any recommendations too , thank you .

My robot vacuum cleaner is a close second

HulaMelody · 29/12/2017 17:17

Started last year really but love piyo classes esp since I’ve started doing more running - good for stretching muscles and feeling strong.
The little make up sponges that are shaped like the wee creature from the EDF energy advert, so easy to use and makes my make up look so much better.
MAC mascara.
Amazon Prime. Dammit they have me hooked right in.

HulaMelody · 29/12/2017 17:18

@FlawlessFuckup how much would you say each cup of coffee costs? I’d love to get something a bit nicer than tassimo
