To wonder how Ive gone this long without having an electric blanket.

Got it for xmas and its the best thing ever, although I never want to leave my bed again. Grin
Minus 10 outside currently but Im so cosy.

I suffer from lots of aches and pains and this is easing them so much.

Has anyone discovered anything this year that they could now no longer be without?

As a menopausal woman with a husband who cannot sleep without a winterweight duvet even when it's midsummer I would love an electric blanket that made me colder not warmer. I will pay good money when that's invented. In the summer I had to resort to pushing the duvet to his side of the bed, spraying water onto a sheet and then sleeping under the wet sheet with a fan directed at it. Even then I had to wake up in the night to respray the sheet as it dried out.

A sensor bin. Best thing ever, no more dirty bin and although you don't think a normal bin puts you out much, it really does! Especially during cup of tea making.

Heated steering wheel and heated seats. I love my new car.

Dogsmouth- I've barely used my instant pot... need to start!

Stormybubbles - yes! Love the backlit tv lights too. We have our Christmas lights on with Alexa too. Also have linked in our heating through Alexa so am kept toasty warm. This gadget is like a PA, have been linking it to amazon prime for music and shopping, weather and news reports, couldn’t be without it. I need the Kettle next!

Re blepharitis:

My GP suggested baby shampoo in warm water to clean eyelids but I found this a bit drying.

I found a hot compress with warm water from a previously boiled kettle on ordinary cotton wool pads helps during flare ups. I also clean along the edges of the eyelids gently with cotton buds dipped in a little pot of warm previously boiled water with a little pich of both salt and bicarbonate of soda. This cleared up my last episode and now I only remember to do it a couple of times a week.

During flare ups I use eucerin moisturiser but other times I use any gentle moisturiser.

Would any of these be any good?

Another vote here for Waitrose skin care. The pink and white tube face wash is amazing.

peachgreen · 29/12/2017 00:26

Sunrise lamp. I genuinely think it's changed my life.

Thank you. One of those (the Chillypad) looks amazing. It doesn't ship,to the UK on Amazon but it's good to know that something like that exists. I will expand my search and hopefully have one in place before summer.

Mac foundation, has the best coverage for my red and dry blotchy skin. Also my automatic opening bin. How on earth I used to have to live like a pauper opening my own bin lid!! Can't believe I used to have to do that Grin

DollyPartonsBeard · 29/12/2017 08:30

My cordless Vax with detachable handheld (bought v cheap via MSE email which my dad forwards to me daily and I usually ignore!) I've hoovered more in the past two weeks than I had in the last year.

Bourjois CC cream - best foundation ever for my temperamental menopausal skin.

The Ordinary skincare - finally liking my skin!

African Black Soap (can you tell I've been binge reading S&B threads?)

Real Ugg boots (as slippers in cold hard-floored house) after years of ebay/ primark knock offs: happiest feet ever!

ohfortuna · 29/12/2017 08:32

Electric coffee grinder

@GardenGeek Body shop wooden comb and Moroccan Oil - tell us more! What hair type do you have what are the benefits?

OneMoStep · 29/12/2017 09:33

Running 🏃🏽‍♀️!

I re-discovered running this year - I love it 🙂. I've lost weight, and it's great for my mental health.

loveablether · 29/12/2017 09:47

Sleep headphones - my husbands loudasfuck snoring no longer is an issue, I listen to meditation and it sends me off beautifully 😴 💤

RipMacWinkle · 29/12/2017 09:50

Tails end of last year I was lucky enough to be picked to test a tumble dryer for MN. Has truly changed my life in 2017

Also my Dyson hand held vacuum, getting it out for quick run rounds has kept more on top of things

Lastly the method rhubarb spray. We all love the smell!

You would think from all of this that our home would be a well toddies and clean place

RipMacWinkle · 29/12/2017 09:51

*tidied!

In any case, it isn't Smile

TossDaily · 29/12/2017 09:59

Oh my god, I'm desperate to know what the book is Shock

For me 2017 has been all about the Instant Pot, hidden high heels, Bioderma cleansing water and M&S 8 Hour Sleep Cream.

2018 is going to be all about MFP Blush

MayFayner · 29/12/2017 10:09

Let's all call @BulletFox and maybe they'll come back and tell us what the book is!

Mine are (although cheating slightly as some from 2016):

  • running
  • cordless dyson
  • 2-washing basket system for laundry so it doesn't pile up it still piles up
  • Clinique chubby eyeshadow stick
OneMoStep · 29/12/2017 10:12

May, I have a 4x tub washing system, which was completely life changing when I implemented it 😄. I think 5x tubs would be even better though 🤔...
