To want to shout FUCK OFF WORLD

Today has been shit. DS has MH issues and whilst usually great he has a major meltdown today. I did all the cooking, cleaning, present buying etc. so am knackered (single Mum with elderly parents that I care for). Work full time as a teacher and finished on Friday.
Lovely morning, cooking went well, late lunch perfect until dessert when meltdown happened. He is 13 and suffers from depression and mood swings and one just appeared from nowhere. I just wanted a lovely day.
He is eventually asleep and I had a browse through Facebook. There is a group of women I know quite well who had all posted. Fuck off with your - 'ah lovely day with the hubster', 'love this one' 'feeling blessed', 'so spoilt' , 'amazing day with the fam' and all that shit. Every woman I know seemed to get a pandora charm which they are cooing over like hubster is the only man in the world to think of it!
Then there's the 'love my angels' (or angles as someone put).
So aibu that I think these women are lying - Christmas Day is hard work (I know them well enough to know their darling hubsters will not have lifted a finger to help the cooking as they were all moaning about it last week).
I don't get it at all.
Feel better for the rant!

Oh dear, it sounds like you are really trying your best and have a lot to deal with. Having a child with MH issues on top of elderly parents must be so demanding 🙁
Ignore the fb posts, I know that's easier said than done; you don't know for sure what's happened behind the scenes. I hope you have a restful night and that tomorrow is easier x

I'm sorry today has been shit op. I hope tomorrow is a better one for your son and yourself.

Ignore the fb bs. Christmas is indeed bloody hard work and Pandora jewellery is only okay anyway.

VelvetSpoon · 26/12/2017 00:04

It's all bullshit.

I agree the hypocrisy is wearing. It's like the people who are always skint yet have 100 presents under their tree.

I didn't get any presents- I'm not that happy about it but frankly I'd rather have nothing than a shitty Pandora charm. Fuck that.

Anyway, congratulate yourself you got through what sounds like a tough Xmas. And you didn't have to take gratitude for a crap partner and/ or bad jewellery! I've got 2 teen DS, and they are hard work at times even without any MH issues, so hats off to you.

Mxyzptlk · 26/12/2017 00:05

Yes, they are probably lying.

hollowtree · 26/12/2017 00:19

Christmas is just a day. And it's full of exhausting excitement. That's probably where the meltdown came from.

Give yourself a break! I bet you made an amazing day for him.

As for Facebook, it's a fake window into real lives. Don't trust it! No one is going to post: "another shitty Pandora. #thoughtless" or "anyone want to trade kids? Mine are assholes". I bet a load of people are thinking it though!!

Everyone's lives have pros and cons. Facebook just shows the pros. Mumsnet however is perfect for addressing the cons for support. You may be a single parent family and that will make days like Christmas harder, but you have a son who loves you and I think you're incredible to hold it all together to him, including dealing with the MH issues as well.

Merry Christmas! Oh, and, I didn't get a Pandora 😁

GlitterGlassEye · 26/12/2017 00:22

splinterz op does have a family. She’s just annoyed that everyone posts ‘perfect’ Christmas Day posts. I deleted Facebook a few years ago. Best thing ever.

pieceofpurplesky · 26/12/2017 00:23

Splinterz can you not read? I spent the day with my family. What I don't have is a partner ... but that does not mean I have no family or am in any way jealous. Believe me I have listened to these women moan about their partners enough to know it's all fake!
I just don't see the point of lying when they have told others how crap their lives are.

Babybauble · 26/12/2017 00:28

Oh I'm with you on this one! I cried today as my DS broke his main present, had too many sweets and basically spoilt the day as my baby screamed poorly, other DC argued like mad. It was sooo stressful. But it's Christmas and like any.other day things don't always work out, took a while for that to sink in earlier as I cried into my pan of burnt sprouts though arghhh

gobster · 26/12/2017 00:32

You say your day was perfect till dessert.

That’s the bit your kids will remember, you are focusing on because of the fact you spend ages planning and stressing trying to make it perfect!

Perfection isn’t always what makes an occasion perfect either, the still things and things that go wrong can be the ones that stand out!

Please don’t beat yourself up for something out of your control, be glad that you didn’t have to put with one of these useless men that so many seem to have that don’t lift a finger and make you feel more drained

You made Christmas magically now relax with whatever beverage floats your boat and ignore the FB gloss it’s all rubbish!

Bubbaleo · 26/12/2017 00:33

Ignore Splinterz who says you seem jealous, (you always get one!) Hope tomorrow's a better day for youFlowers

Bubbaleo · 26/12/2017 00:33
Flowers
Bubbaleo · 26/12/2017 00:35

Sorry, posted twice! But you have got extra flowers Grin

hollowtree · 26/12/2017 00:36

Yep I also meant to say ignore splinterz

lalliella · 26/12/2017 00:38

Splinterz that is one of the nastiest comments I have ever seen on here, shame on you. OP does have a family, but they are causing her hard work and heartache. Flowers to you OP. Ignore Facebook, most of the people who post all that #soblessed crap are lying.

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 26/12/2017 00:38

Don’t fret op, Facebook is bollocks, if they’re having such a fabulous day why would posting something on FB even enter their heads on Christmas Day.

Ladybirdbookworm · 26/12/2017 00:39

Like my DM told me years ago - Christmas is only perfect in the movies
Wishing you all a merry Christmas
( you too splinterz ......feeling a tad irritable as well are we ???? )

pieceofpurplesky · 26/12/2017 00:39

Me thinks maybe splinterz got a pandora charm ....

OP posts:
YetAnotherSpartacus · 26/12/2017 00:41

I can't bear present competitions. My guess is that most either nagged 'hubster' or bought their own charms or no charm really exists at all. Either way 'hubster' probably expects a shag in return even if she's knackered and not in the mood. He'll also lose interest after he's had his fun or she'll fake it so she can get some shut-eye. Then he'll fart, roll over and keep her awake snoring all night and leave her to do the remains of the cleaning up from the night before in the morning while he sleeps in. But that's not what she'll post on Facebook.

midnightmisssuki · 26/12/2017 00:45

Maybe come off FB for a while/forever if it winds you up that much... I did and it’s great! . Sorry you’ve had a rough day. Hope Boxing Day is better for you.

Olympiathequeen · 26/12/2017 00:47

I see several like that too, but I know they are genuine and I’m happy for them as they are my friends and family. I am though, pretty selective on who my fb friends are. Maybe you could prune a little?

calzone · 26/12/2017 00:59

Delete Facebook

It’s utterly irrelevant and the best thing I ever did

Gemini69 · 26/12/2017 01:00

Facebook is a place where people go to brag because in the real world nobody actually cares ..... and isn't its strange that their 'hubsters' all bought the same gift Xmas Hmm did they go in mob handed and just bulk buy... whatever charms were left... Xmas Grin

fear not OP... FB is artificial bollocks Flowers

Gemini69 · 26/12/2017 01:01

p.s. I don't have Facebook either

bastardkitty · 26/12/2017 01:03
