bought new Maxi Cosi pushchair, never dreamed the straps would be too short, for designers it's not a problem they should have to think about, just make them as adjustable as possible and they'll fit a wide range of toddlers/babies?!! Other straps are around 50% longer!?!

Phoned customer services, they said they'd email me, here's their email and my reply. I'm incensed not just for myself, but for anyone else who buys this product and really doesn't have money to waste.

MAXI COSI Thank you for your time on the phone earlier regarding your Adorra pushchair.
We would be delighted to assist you in resolving this enquiry. If you would please send across a photo of your little one in the seat so that we an see the issue, and another of the seat unit itself with the harness system clearly visible. Finally if you would please send across your proof of purchase should this be required later.
We look forward to hearing from you. MAXI COSI

MY RESPONCE:
Not sure i'm going to have time to do this, nor do I want to make her upset by strapping her into it when it's clearly too tight, that's the kind of thing that sparks a tantrum which isn't fair on her.
Here are the measurements I took yesterday:
The measurements are with straps fully extended, from shoulder to crotch to hip
brand new umbrella fold stroller 96cm 58% bigger than the Adorra
my old pushchair (about 3 years old) 86cm 42% bigger than the Adorra
Maxi Cosi Adorra 60.5cm

I did try her in it before I bought it but I thought it was difficult to fasten because she was wriggling so much. It never occurred to me that the straps could be to short as she is in 1.5-2 year cloths and the website states that the pushchair goes up to 3.5 years.

This is such a basic design fault, I shouldn't have to fight for a refund. I'm going to post all the correspondence etc on Mumsnet, to try and save other people from making the same mistake, and contact Trading Standards.

I look forward to your reply, RESPONCE ENDS

I'll keep Mumsnet up to date with what happens. Please feel free to post your crap experiences with Maxi Cosi.

You don't have to fight for a refund - I assume you bought online as you talk about the website. You have 14 days from receipt of the item to return - you can do this for any reason (distance selling regulations). Tell them you want to do this and ask them how postage back will work.

TheSameCoin · 22/12/2017 16:53

Agreed, if you bought it online just send it back.

honeysucklejasmine · 22/12/2017 16:55

Why are you trying to start a big campaign? Just return it?

user1500124076 · 22/12/2017 16:57

Why the dramatics (and the passive aggressive "I'm telling Mumsnet" threats)? Just return it or exchange. Confused

cakeymccakington · 22/12/2017 17:01

I would imagine they want a photo to make sure you have actually extended the straps as far as possible.

It wouldn't be the first time I've seen a post like this where in fact the straps will go bigger.

Or maybe the buggy is faulty. It's not unreasonable of them to ask to see a picture.. why not just send it and see what they say?

cakeymccakington · 22/12/2017 17:05

This person appears to be able to strap her big child into it...

You need to get a grip.

You bought something that doesn’t work for you and according to your title that you couldn’t afford. Just return it and chill the dramatics. No one else is likely to be interested in this non issue.

Sirzy · 22/12/2017 17:11

So they replied trying to help and you send a rude reply back?

I find manners and basic niceness get you much further in life!

greenapplesplatter · 22/12/2017 17:13

Sorry but you are definitely sure you've extended the straps in full aren't you? Type the model name into YouTube & watch a video to make sure because of you haven't I'm already cringing for you

TheNewSchmoo · 22/12/2017 17:14

Wow are you normally so aggressive straight off the bat? That's unnecessarily rude.

lostfrequencies · 22/12/2017 17:16

“I’m going to post all the correspondence etc on mumsnet”

GlitterGlue · 22/12/2017 17:16

Ha e you looked at the video online to check you’re extending them correctly?

itsgettinghotinhere80 · 22/12/2017 17:17

So you don't have time to take a quick photo on your phone to attach to your email back to them, but you do have time to start a thread online ranting?!? OK then 😁

G5000 · 22/12/2017 17:17

they sent a totally reasonable polite and helpful reply, and you replied like a stroppy teenager.

cakeymccakington · 22/12/2017 17:19

Well this isn't going quite how you were hoping is it?

Creatureofthenight · 22/12/2017 17:21

They sound reasonable so far. They didn't ask you to strap your daughter in, they asked to see her in the seat - presumably you could then show the straps are too short to fasten. If you don't have time to send them this then you don't have time to start a thread on here either.

I think the reply you received is fine, just take the photos as asked and send back.

Are you certain you’ve correctly tried to adjust the straps ? From memory with some Maxi Cosi pushairs you nee. To do something at the back of the pushchair to extreme the steals and there’s two height level slots ? Have you read the instruction manual ?

RitaMills · 22/12/2017 17:23

You don’t have time to take a photo? Come on you could’ve done that instead of starting this thread. Their email is polite and helpful, why turn this into a battle?

mygorgeousmilo · 22/12/2017 17:24

Errrrrm

glow1984 · 22/12/2017 17:24

We bought a new pushchair recently and spent half an hour trying to fit DS into it, Convinced the straps weren’t long enough.

Turned out we had to force them back through the holes and into the ones higher up for older kids Blush

MaryPoppinsStoleMyHandbag · 22/12/2017 17:25

Your response to them is ridiculous. I’m sure you could find the time to take 2 minutes to take a photo of her in it like they asked. How long ago did you buy it and where from?

Threatening them with Mumsnet is cringeworthy.

Floralnomad · 22/12/2017 17:25

Talk about an OTT response ( please note the spelling OP) , they’ve tried to help in a perfectly polite manner and you’ve been threatening and quite rude.

toolonglurking · 22/12/2017 17:25

Have a cup of tea, watch a video on their YouTube page and try extending the straps again.... it seems really unlikely they make straps too small for the children they are designed to fit.
