DH has an inbuilt distrust of internet shopping so when I placed my Ocado Christmas order he became very agitated and insisted that all the fresh vegetables be removed as he wished to choose them himself.

OK, I say. If you wish to visit the supermarket on the busiest day of the year to buy exactly the same items that would have been carried straight into our kitchen then who am into argue? Vegetables were removed.

This morning, on his way to the gym he suggested I might like to go to Waitrose this evening to purchase the Christmas fucking vegetables whilst he enjoys a drink at the pub. After he’s finished playing golf. Xmas Shock

I have explained in good Anglo Saxon English that this will not be happening. Oh, and it’s his family coming, not mine. Xmas Grin

AIBU to suggest he is the CF of the day?

Update as requested. I have spent the afternoon having a swim and reading my kindle in the spa pool. I popped into Tesco Express on the way home to buy ingredients for mince pies (mincemeat in jar and Jusroll, got home to discover I have neither bun tin nor pastry cutter Xmas Blush ).

Tesco Express was both quiet and well stocked with veg. Which I left there. I must not spoil his lovely outing tomorrow after all. Xmas Grin

Ummm. My veg was bought yesterday and will be fine in the garage (it's like a bloody ice box).

But op, here is your 🏆 for putting up with such a muppet.

He can have a token chocolate coin upon returning successfully laden with all your requirements. Just make sure you wait until he has left to add 'a few extras since he's going to the supermarket'.

Graphista · 22/12/2017 19:02

Well I am as bad as the men apparently. Couldn't get everything I wanted so will need to figure something else out.

Cash for dd will work she'll love that BUT on condition she gets/it goes toward the items I was planning to get her.

But carrots I mean carrots that's all I needed - nope! Remembered I have frozen baby carrots (I think) in the freezer - can I parboil them then roast in a honey and herb glaze which is what I had planned to do?

Wine is being bought at local offy cannot contemplate supermarket for THAT.

ticklady · 22/12/2017 19:29

I went to Morrison's this evening, it was busy but stocked with everything.
Veg galore except cucumbers which is what i needed. Typical.
But despite the booze aisle being chocablock there seemed to be plenty of everything.
No worries here😁

ElephantsandTigers · 22/12/2017 19:30

I took dd to buy new trainers then walked across to Sainsbury's. I don't got a space pretty quick in the centre car park and all around town it was fine. Didn't have to queue to pay in either of the shops I went in and Sainsbury's has turkeys for a tenner and veg for 25p. No shopping plans for tomorrow then Sunday we're going for an early mooch around a small shopping centre just for the atmosphere and to try and get some M&S bargains. They have some lovely stuff in but ridiculously overpriced atm.

Janetjanetjanet · 22/12/2017 19:31

Bit much really.

Mine was 'working' today and told me only half jokingly that he expected all the gifts to be wrapped and dinner to be made by the time he gets home.

Whilst looking after an almost-walking one year old and barmy four year old.

I told him to get to fuck.

Piratesandpants · 22/12/2017 19:35

Op - you have style. Please keep the updates coming.

HatingTheBigShow · 22/12/2017 19:36

Just use something around the kitchen for your mince pies, OP - a Nutribullet cup is the perfect size for cutting out prince pies but I'm sure a pint glass will do the trick too.

Lilyhatesjaz · 22/12/2017 19:44

Without a bun tin you could flatten out pastry spread with mince meat then roll up like a sausage then cut into slices. You would then have spirals which can be cooked on a flat tray.

Chienrouge · 22/12/2017 19:47

Nope, I frequently do Xmas dinner for 8 to 12 people.
Normally buy my veg early Christmas eve.
Never had a problem

There are so many more things I’d rather be doing on Christmas Eve than buying veg.

I hate to gloat Xmas Grin, but DH took our two DC (4 and 2) to the butchers, farm shop and supermarket yesterday to get all the Christmas food (and the normal weekly shop) while I spent the morning in bed nursing a hangover. He’ll cook it, too.

Iwanttobe8stoneagain · 22/12/2017 20:23

I’d be suggesting exactly where he could stick his freshly bought carrot

Leinlondon · 22/12/2017 20:36

Had this EXACT conversation with my mate this morning during a dog walk - is there an army of CF vegetable-fussy men out there who want to amend the Xmas food order and yet avoid going to the supermarket themselves or is that you Tan??

Pardalis · 22/12/2017 20:49

I have a suckling pig in the shed in an insulated box that I have to keep topping up with ice. Chicken in the fridge sounds like much less of a drama!!

Mrsmadevans · 22/12/2017 20:58

The CF of mumsnet husbands must surely go to the poor woman whose DH bought her Ann Summers stuff for her his Christmas pressie , However your DH is on par I feel OP ....

ticklady · 22/12/2017 21:21

Where did you all find dh's who cook? Who like cooking or can cook?

I've had one meal cooked for me in 14 years and even that had a pube in it.

Chienrouge · 22/12/2017 21:25

ticklady I didn’t ‘find’ him... he’d go hungry if he didn’t do his share of the cooking. Bollocks am I doing it all just because I’m a woman.

Chienrouge · 22/12/2017 21:26

And of course your DH can cook. Can he read? In that case he can follow a recipe.

IsabelleSE19 · 22/12/2017 21:28

Xmas Shock Xmas Grin

Mamia15 · 22/12/2017 21:29

My DH cooks most of the time and has always cooked Christmas dinner - his mother made sure he could cook and when he left home, he had to fend for himself...

My teenage DS is a decent cook as well. My DD isn't too bothered about cooking.

Ijumpalot · 22/12/2017 21:39

I’d like to enter my CF dh into this competition. He finished work at 12 today and has been out eating and drinking since then (we are now on hour 9-not that I’m counting) leaving me with 2 toddlers and a very young baby. This is his 3rd, yes 3rd work Xmas party and I’ve not been to any because of said small baby Angry
Does he get shortlisted????

mistyweather · 22/12/2017 21:50

hahaha

WhatWouldOliviaPopeDo · 22/12/2017 21:59

Your update made me LOL, OP. Very funny thread. So far my DP is behaving himself although he did comment earlier as I unpacked the shopping I did at the crack of dawn while he snored in bed that it looked like I'd bought too much food. Yes, for his pig of a DB who cleans out the cupboards and fridge like a locust. By Boxing Day we're lucky if we've got a jar of Piccalli left, let alone any turkey. Angry

Esker · 22/12/2017 22:02

Ijumpalot that is fucking cheeky!

He better be in a fit state to be looking after all three of the kids tomorrow for 9 hours (and counting).

Quick, text some mates to make plans! Or book yourself a manicure/ massage. If you are breastfeeding the tiny one, can you express so that there is no question of 'What to do about the baby?'

OP How nice of your husband to suggest you do the shop, bearing in mind your back injury Xmas Confused

I can't quite compete with these levels of cheekiness, however my husband gets lot go to lots of swanky client lunches (foie gras, venison, expensive wines etc), whilst I am on maternity leave with our son, therefore no work parties to be had Xmas Envy

Chattymummyhere · 22/12/2017 22:03

My dh does the Christmas cooking.

We popped to Tesco tonight for our normal shop and it wasn’t bad really, found a parking space not too far away. Trollies where hard to find but grabbed a scanner got everything we wanted no waiting at the scan and shop pay point and straight out. They had a good stock of everything you could want and people refilling the shelves straight away.
