Came across this article in the Mirror just now (Sorry, it's another Meghan one) where she says Prince Michael of Kent wore a 'racist' brooch when meeting her.

www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/meghan-markle-greeted-racist-jewellery-11736477

General consensus from the comments suggest she knew exactly what she was doing. I don't know anything about her to know if it's suspect but it seems an odd thing to own let alone wear in public. What's the jury?

Also, is Michael an actual name for a woman, I've never heard of it before

I wonder what message she thought she was sending?

That's very clear, she was stating she doesn't approve of the marriage due to mms mum.

From the MNer who said 'I had no idea you were black' at a meet up

Ffs. Did she also say to others "I'd no idea you were white or whatever" or did she save that little gem of a statement just for you?

Tipsntoes · 22/12/2017 11:57

It's the sort of thing that if it was on the Antique Roadshow they'd say nice things about what beautiful quality it is, but also tell you it's worthless because there's no market, as no-one could ever actually wear it...

elfies · 22/12/2017 11:58

Hopefully Miss Markle didn't take the insult on board , Bet harry did though .

Bowerbird5 · 22/12/2017 11:58

I hope they leave her off the guest list!

ConcreteUnderpants · 22/12/2017 11:58

Think this has just shown how hideous this woman is. Didn't she shout at black waiters/staff in a restaurant once?

And yes, I've also heard how The Queen etc can't stand her.

FullOfXmasCheerOfCourse · 22/12/2017 11:58

@321namechange

Kindest interpretation would be dementia.

I wondered about that as well, however if she has dementia then surely somebody else would have stepped in and said she couldn't wear it.

Viviennemary · 22/12/2017 12:00

I was going to say what a fuss about nothing. Then I saw the picture. It's awful. Nobody wears that these days. Don't like Princess Michael and don't like Meghan Markle either. She is too much showbiz and Hollywood and showy.

BalloonSlayer · 22/12/2017 12:00

As I understand it, even when the Duchess of Cambridge becomes Princess of Wales she will be Catherine, Princess of Wales

No. She will be The Princess of Wales. The title "Diana, Princess of Wales" was invented for Diana after her divorce from Charles to try to get around the embarrassing issue of what to call her now.

If Catherine wishes to be called a Princess at the moment, she would have to call herself Princess William.

ShellyBoobs · 22/12/2017 12:01

I don’t think there can be any rational explanation for her wearing that other than the fact she’s a vile, nasty old witch.

Yuck.

Anymajordude · 22/12/2017 12:02

Not dementia unless she's always had dementia.

JenniferL90 · 22/12/2017 12:05

Fuck what a horrid woman.

Maybe she somehow thought she was showing how open minded she is......

"I like black people - look at my brooch" kind of thing?

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 22/12/2017 12:13

Omg! That is appalling.

Roussette · 22/12/2017 12:14

She is a vile woman, always has been. Wouldn't surprise me if she had the brooch specially made ready to greet Meghan.

The thing is... she is a nobody in the pecking order, she knows it and has spent her life hanging on the coat tails of the Royal family. From what I've read over decades (I'm old!) she is really not liked but only tolerated.

Whatthefoxgoingon · 22/12/2017 12:15

Vile vile woman. Thank goodness she is a total irrelevance.

DownTheChimney · 22/12/2017 12:16

"I like black people - look at my brooch" kind of thing?

I was just about to say maybe she thought that but now knowing she has been racist in the past, I doubt it. Nasty bitch.

Viviennemary · 22/12/2017 12:17

Maybe it's an agreed PR stunt because Meghan is getting not good press. To get public sympathy. I wouldn't put anything past the royals. They're very devious.

LuluJakey1 · 22/12/2017 12:18

I think she would only be Cathetine, Princess of Wales, if they divorced. She will be The Princess of Wales.
Diana only became Diana, Princess of Wales, but not The Princess of Wales, after the divorce, as Sarah Ferguson is still Sarah, Duchess of York but not The Duchess of York.

ThomasRichard · 22/12/2017 12:22

What a nasty woman. If you’re a member of the royal family and you own such a brooch, you know its significance.

LellyMcKelly · 22/12/2017 12:22

Jesus Christ. You can’t buy class. What a cow.

ItWentInMyEye · 22/12/2017 12:24

Wow!! She clearly gives no shits about what people think of her. Evil old witch.

MissionItsPossible · 22/12/2017 12:24

Viviennemary I haven't seen or heard of negativity towards Meghan I don't think she is getting bad press. Is she? Confused

OP posts:
Puzzledandpissedoff · 22/12/2017 12:28

I think she should be reprimanded at the highest level and apologise too

Better, surely, to just treat her with the disdain she deserves - to such a personality, any attention is probably welcome Hmm

I confess I'm another who opened the article thinking it would just be press stirring over nothing much, but there's no way at all that wasn't deliberate

diddl · 22/12/2017 12:31

"to such a personality, any attention is probably welcome "

That's what I was thinking.

She's probably delighted to have made the news.

FitBitFanClub · 22/12/2017 12:32

I believe it may have been the queen who is reported to have once said of Princess Michael, "Oh she's far too grand for the likes of us."

So no, they don't like her at all.

DullAndOld · 22/12/2017 12:32

horrible old cunt.
I think we have no idea what this Meghan Markle is up against tbh.
