Sorry if there's already a thread on this.

I saw they've been released today, and went to have a look. I think they both look lovely! They surprised me a bit though, as they're a bit more intimate than other royal engagement ones.

Disclaimer: I'm a raging royalist Grin

I think even the most hardened anti-Royal would struggle to hate Harry.

Republicans hate the institution, not the people within it.

trewz · 22/12/2017 23:39

However, I find it distasteful that the dress is so expensive and I think they have missed a trick in terms of breaking down barriers and connecting with ordinary people (although in other respects they do it well). Something from Next or M&S would have hit the right note

I find it absolutely bizarre that people find the price of the dress obscene and not the whole concept of a family born to extreme wealth and paid for by people earning minimum wage.

BlackeyedSusan · 23/12/2017 00:01

they look happy and in love.

LazyDailyMailJournos · 23/12/2017 07:02

I've seen it all now. Presumably her wedding dress should be second hand from a charity shop?

There are many many people in the UK, including me, who care about charitable causes but who also like nice clothes/jewellery/furniture/food - delete as appropriate. These things are not mutually exclusive.

Seriously: Get. A. Grip.

That's because red carpet, paid product-placement shoot choices are, as you put it bananas celeb stuff.

The Royal Family isn't like that. I don't think it is fair to equate dislike of showiness/excess with racism. I like the sitting photo (yes, still in the expensive clothes) but not the standing one - because I don't like the photo - I think it looks contrived. It's not because my opinion of the dress or suit or those wearing them has suddenly changed between the pictures.

cuirderussie · 23/12/2017 07:56

Dress is v Carrie Bradshaw. But they look madly in love, I haven't the energy to take the piss Grin

Chocfingers · 23/12/2017 08:19

A lob? What's that?

juliesaway · 23/12/2017 08:32

I think they’re a bit tacky and not at all regal.

LazyDailyMailJournos · 23/12/2017 08:41

Lob = long bob

KathArtic · 23/12/2017 09:07

I'm still not sure about her/them.

Had they been together a while then I would totally convinced and would feel she was the one for him, that he had found happiness etc

Poster upthread said there's always a lot of arm clutching and half hiding from her in recent publicity shots which hit the nail on the head. Are they trying to convince us/themselves?

I wasn't sure if her dress was too risque and that was the only shot they could publish.

RoboticSealpup · 23/12/2017 09:44

I've never cared one bit about what the royals get up to... until now. Blush Meghan is so charismatic, beautiful and talented. And how nice for little girls who are mixed race to see a princess who looks like them for once... Don't try too tell me that these things don't matter...

Totally embarrassing that I care so much

shhhfastasleep · 23/12/2017 10:11

Agree with everything you said, Robotic. Even the bits with a strike through.
She seems nice. He seems nice. I don't have as much money. Not a reason to hate them.

juliesaway · 23/12/2017 10:15

They’re just another celeb couple these days aren’t they. The photos definitely loom that way and are catering to an American audience. The relationships only a year old and has all been long distance. I wish them well but feel it’s going to be a disaster and she’ll be doing tell-all interviews on US talk shows in a few years and causing huge embarrassment.

hollyisalovelyname · 23/12/2017 12:54

I just don't like the simpering.
You're a grown up divorced woman.
It's not a photo shoot for a show or a modelling assignment
I just really hope it works for Harry's sake.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 23/12/2017 17:16

Well I wish them every happiness & I'm sure they will be very happy.
And totally agree with what Robotic has written up thread.

BalloonSlayer · 23/12/2017 20:20

I have seen a particular E Harmony advert a couple of times today. Both times I have felt that the lovely young woman reminds me of Meghan Markle. How unfortunate that the ad depicts the woman bring matched with a ginger pig. Grin

Disclaimer : I think Harry is handsome and I like red hair and have always been puzzled by the ginger prejudice thing.

Check the tailor’s stitch still in place. Chic!

Eltonjohnssyrup · 12/03/2018 15:31

I like her shoes. She looks very thin in that photograph.

eloisesparkle · 12/03/2018 16:54

At the Commonwealth service - Meghan's white outfit really stands out- she has amazingly thin legs. She's very pretty.
Kate looks great, she seems to have put on more weight than usual (for her) during pregnancy.

Cottongusset · 18/05/2018 12:59

She passed the audition and got the part - let's hope she can keep it up. Reeled him in nicely.

eloisesparkle · 18/05/2018 16:55

Oh Cotton - cynical you Smile

eloisesparkle · 18/05/2018 17:19

I just don't get why she has to ask Charles to 'give her away' to his son.
Rather odd.
Could her mother not escort her down the aisle.
What about her diplomat uncle ?

TurquoiseDress · 18/05/2018 17:27

I thought the photos were very stylishly done & loved the amazing dress!Grin
