Sorry if there's already a thread on this.

I saw they've been released today, and went to have a look. I think they both look lovely! They surprised me a bit though, as they're a bit more intimate than other royal engagement ones.

Disclaimer: I'm a raging royalist Grin

On not keen maybe it'd his suit I think they look a bit cringing

Poirotspen · 21/12/2017 21:43

Now I've noticed Meghan's right elbow (peeping out under Harry's jacket) in the steps photo, I can't unseen it. It's just a (perfectly normal) elbow but it looks freakish and odd and like something else...
Should get more sleep

RoseWhiteTips · 21/12/2017 21:47

Lol

shhhfastasleep · 21/12/2017 21:49

Odd that saying" there's a debate" = "making assumptions" Hmm

KiaOraAura · 21/12/2017 21:50

I laughed when I saw them. Ridiculously posed looking, especially that black and white one with her hand on his face. Looks like a Christmas advert for H Samuel.

Those Mario Testino pictures of Diana showed how looking natural (even if you are posing) creates a much better picture.

paniconthestreetsofdreams · 21/12/2017 21:54

Why are you a royalist?

RavingRoo · 21/12/2017 22:00

Lovely. They both look so happy.

bunbunny · 21/12/2017 22:04

I think they're lovely perfume/car/watch shots...

Definitely trying to be the prince and the independent actress/activist rather than the prince and his new bride to be.

Wasn't that keen on the skirt of the dress - the ruffly bits stuck out and and so looked a bit strange. Also a bit odd that he seems to be in a day suit while she's in evening dress.

However, thought it was a much better choice than the dress and coat thing that she wore for the engagement announcement. For someone who usually looks so stylish and well dressed, even if she's just wearing jeans and casual stuff, and often amazing on the red carpet, the outfit was a mess and really unflattering. And from a technical photography point of view, it's much harder to take a good picture if there's a big blob of white or cream in the middle of it that really stands out from the rest of the shot.

WineCheeseSleep · 21/12/2017 22:06

I think they're gorgeous, I really like her. I really don't know why I care but I do for some reason!

specialsubject · 21/12/2017 22:14

My one vanity is getting my horrible frizzy curls straightened. My natural look is an 80s perm, puts years on me and is uncomfortable. On other face shapes it looks better but not on me.

Not a feminist act, I just prefer to be able to use a comb and look tidy. Each to their own. Kidman, Chelsea clinton and many other frizzballs have done the same since decent straightening was invented.

Megan markle is really pretty with a lovely smile. Shame about that dress!

ElizabethG81 · 21/12/2017 22:26

£56,000, fucking hell. I'm getting Marie Antoinette vibes.

The photos look like they're straight out of an ad campaign, Harry's even been practicing the Blue Steel look.

They're just another pair of rich twits, but they're going to try to lord it over us all with their "we're here to change the world" bollocks, while wearing couture gowns in the middle of the day.

grandolddukeofyork · 21/12/2017 22:47

I'm really surprised she chose that dress given her whole "there's a lot of work to be done" saving the world speech. Sounded empty when she said it.

itsbetterthanabox · 21/12/2017 22:57

Cute pics. Not interested in the royals but I think Harry is quite sexy.
Her dress seems a strange choice- so glam for a country walk!

GinIsIn · 21/12/2017 23:12

They’re a bit odd - he looks like he’s got a job interview, she looks like she thought she was appearing in the vanity fair oscars cover, and the photos are a bit mills and boon. Confused

Samcro · 21/12/2017 23:16

lovely pics and I like her

tiddliewinkiewoo · 21/12/2017 23:24

I think the photos are lovely - what I don't think as lovely is the amount of posters commenting on his and her's 'looks' and what she's wearing.

I'd like a comparison photo so we too can judge Xmas Grin

SoupDragon · 22/12/2017 07:46

I thought that! The cream jumper outfit looked far more appropriate for the setting.

shhhfastasleep · 22/12/2017 08:01

Chances are it's a) her own money and/or b) given to her by a designer at a knockdown price or for nothing to showcase the dress as per the Oscars or similar.

Fekko · 22/12/2017 08:18

Or maybe it's a knock off from Perricoat Lane market?

Shmithecat · 22/12/2017 08:20

I'm a royalist and I think they're beautiful photos. They look happy and in love. What's not to like?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 22/12/2017 08:26

If I had swear under oath I don't give a hoot.
Why would I care or be remotely interested in 2 strangers getting married.

Buck3t · 22/12/2017 08:30

jeffy - but frankly how is relaxing your hair more fake than straightening with straighteners or wearing extensions

it's not, it's just more poisonous.

twiney · 22/12/2017 08:34

Sorry I was the one who originally commented on "fake" hair and I didnt mean it at all in the context of relaxing, curls vs non curls etc.

I meant I hate what i call (fittingly!) that "princess" hair, which is very long and blow dryed with curled ends. It just makes me think X Factor. Kate has it too. And yes I do believe that they have some very subtle and expensive extensions in there. Not that its any of my business, and its just the modern style.

But I think like you're over 25, get some kind of punch style, for example I think MM would look amazing with a lob.

twiney · 22/12/2017 08:36

@RoseWhiteTips

"Don’t like her, either. Too self-aware and brittle."

Spot on description.

MiniCooperLover · 22/12/2017 08:39

It prob is way more overwhelming than anything she’s used to, even as an actress but it’s the whole ‘cutesie oh me?’ Thing I struggle with. She’s 36, a bit old for that. I think it’s what put me off Alexandra Burke on Strictly. The slightly fake (it seemed to me) ‘a 10 for little old me’ thing.

They seem happy, I hope they are.
