To think Poundland ad is not “genius” and is actually a bit I appropriate?

Most comments on Facebook are proclaiming it “genius.” I don’t think a sexual innuendo is that genius TBF.

Plus why is it a woman lying on her back with a t shirt saying “power” and a man standing over her dominating her. They could have at least chosen another sexual innuendo.

Also difficult to explain to kids.

Or have I got the wrong end of the stick?

*were. Excuse me Blush

mummmy2017 · 21/12/2017 16:36

I mean your reading to much into it.

Move on nothing to see here.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 21/12/2017 16:37

It is nasty and inappropriate.

strugglingtodomybest · 21/12/2017 16:38

Sorry, but I don't get the joke either. Is it that he's using a real teabag? Is it the reference to one lump or two (which I assume is reference to his balls and not to cancerous testicles?)? Or is it an assumption that tea bagging is inherently funny?

Would someone who finds it funny please explain the joke?

PavlovianLunge · 21/12/2017 16:41

So basically, the elf is a sexy pest, peddling second rate innuendo. Am I back in 1975?

haveacupofteaandamincepie · 21/12/2017 16:43

Yeah, I'm never doing the elf thing with DS now after seeing that Xmas Sad

VladmirsPoutine · 21/12/2017 16:44

Whatever you make of the rights and wrongs of it, Poundland has achieved it's objectives with the ad.

BertrandRussell · 21/12/2017 16:44

I suppose if I wasn’t a feminist I might find it funny. But even then.......

struggling, teabagging is slang for a testicles/face interaction. So the joke - as I understand it - is that the Sex Pest Elf is teabagging Barbie, but, oh my sides, with a Twinings teabag, but really, he wants to rub his testicles all over her face and shove them in her mouth. It’s hilarious. Hmm

sheldonesque · 21/12/2017 16:46

I consider my pearls well and truly clutched.

Somewhat grim.

JeremyCorbynsBeard · 21/12/2017 16:46

struggling I'm with you. I don't get the "lump" reference. I'm not offended by the ad but it's certainly in poor taste.

Fairyliz · 21/12/2017 16:47

I thought that I had a juvenile sense of humour (I find farting funny) but this is just foul.

FlouncyDoves · 21/12/2017 16:48

What’s it supposed to be advertising? Tea bags?

womblinglove · 21/12/2017 16:48

I quite like a bit of teabagging...I'm sure I'm not the only woman who does...

exLtEveDallas · 21/12/2017 16:49

It's not funny. Not even a little bit.

AFistfulOfDolores · 21/12/2017 16:50

Misogynistic shite. Someone in their marketing/ad dept hates women.

HamishBamish · 21/12/2017 16:50

I think it's vile.

HamishBamish · 21/12/2017 16:51

This isn't an actual advert surely?

TenancyTroublesAgain · 21/12/2017 16:53

I don't think it's offensive (but it doesn't seem particularly clever either).

cushioncovers · 21/12/2017 16:56

I don't even get it!

custardlover · 21/12/2017 16:57

I think it's lame, I find it offensive and it puts me off the shop. I used to like a browse there but now I feel like I've has a shock of cold water and think if that's for the target market, it's not the place for me.

k2p2k2tog · 21/12/2017 16:58

Professional and measured response from Twinings on Twitter: "We are aware of an image that is circulating that misuses our product. This is to confirm that we had no involvement in this and that it is obviously not reflective of our brand values."

SoulSputnik · 21/12/2017 16:59

I'm can be a bit of a prude, so I find it in poor taste and crass. but, to each their own
