To think Poundland ad is not “genius” and is actually a bit I appropriate?

Most comments on Facebook are proclaiming it “genius.” I don’t think a sexual innuendo is that genius TBF.

Plus why is it a woman lying on her back with a t shirt saying “power” and a man standing over her dominating her. They could have at least chosen another sexual innuendo.

Also difficult to explain to kids.

Or have I got the wrong end of the stick?

CosmicCanary · 21/12/2017 15:57

Maybe I have lost my sense of humour but that just wasnt funny.

Idream I really dont want to google space dogging do I??

CosmicCanary · 21/12/2017 15:58

DOCKING! Space docking Blush

BlazingPaddles · 21/12/2017 15:58

Did they hire an advertising firm of 15 year old boys?

Maudlinmaud · 21/12/2017 15:58

Good God!

GetAwayFromHer · 21/12/2017 15:59

And if you don't get that it's misogynistic then you are thick as two short planks

LizzieSiddal · 21/12/2017 15:59

There’s plenty more nasty stuff on their Fb page.

Won’t be going into Poundland again.

BlazingPaddles · 21/12/2017 16:00

'Space dogging'

Even in the year 3017 we will have people traversing the galaxy to have grubby sex in a car park on Pluto!

KungFuEric · 21/12/2017 16:00

To be fair it seems to be working with their customer base.

There's probably adverts for nuts magazine that wouldn't go down too well on here that appeal to their own audience.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 21/12/2017 16:01

Is it meant to be funny?

How sad would you have to be to find that funny?

CosmicCanary · 21/12/2017 16:03

Grin @BlazingPaddles

Emmasmum2013 · 21/12/2017 16:04

I think its a good advert - never knew they sold Twinings in Poundland Wink

Flippetydip · 21/12/2017 16:04

I've emailed Twinings to let them know that their brand is being used in something so completely inappropriate.

AdalindSchade · 21/12/2017 16:04

It's gross and offensive. But I am a po faced humourless feminist.

WunWun · 21/12/2017 16:04

I wonder if Twinings know they're being linked to this shit.

BertrandRussell · 21/12/2017 16:04

Good to see the professionally unoffended out in force!

givemestrengthorgin · 21/12/2017 16:06

I think it's pretty grim.

AccidentallyRunToWindsor · 21/12/2017 16:06

It'd not my kind of humour and I'm surprised their advertising agency felt it was ok. I'm far from offended, more bemused that someone signed off on it.

Maybe your average Poundland shopper thinks that it's hilarious though?

k2p2k2tog · 21/12/2017 16:07

Poundland are struggling.

www.theguardian.com/business/2017/dec/19/creditors-desert-poundland-owner-amid-south-africa-accounting-scandal

www.thetimes.co.uk/article/thousands-of-jobs-under-threat-as-toys-r-us-and-poundland-struggle-5x93dswm5

Their employers won't give them credit, their stores are struggling. So their marketing department has been tasked to come up with something low budget, hi-impact. And it appears this is the best they can do.

k2p2k2tog · 21/12/2017 16:07

Suppliers won't give them credit. Not employers.

notsohippychick · 21/12/2017 16:09

I’m not a prude by any stretch of the imagination and open minded to most things. I’d not see this before and expected to roll my eyes at the OP thinking she’s a bit OTT.

However I’m actually really shocked at this. Like really shocked! It’s awful. I’ve no words!!!

MissionItsPossible · 21/12/2017 16:09

Just been on their twitter feed and um... yeah. It's full of stuff like this. The one with the elf offering free moustache rides: "First come, first served". I guess they have an audience and pander to it?

LizzieSiddal · 21/12/2017 16:10

No wonder they are struggling if that’s the best they can come up with.

Actually last time I went in there, there was stuff for sale for £2. What’s the point in that?!

littlemisscomper · 21/12/2017 16:12

That's just nasty.

Beltane18 · 21/12/2017 16:15

can't someone photoshop a version where she's bitten off his teabags and is spitting it across the room while he lies bleeding to death?
