To think Poundland ad is not “genius” and is actually a bit I appropriate?

Most comments on Facebook are proclaiming it “genius.” I don’t think a sexual innuendo is that genius TBF.

Plus why is it a woman lying on her back with a t shirt saying “power” and a man standing over her dominating her. They could have at least chosen another sexual innuendo.

Also difficult to explain to kids.

Or have I got the wrong end of the stick?

What's extra grim as well is that the elf if looking cheekily at the camera (audience) and the barbie is flat on her back hands down at side sort, with face hidden. Like she's not joining in sort of thing.

Yes I know they're toys Grin

Mooncuplanding · 21/12/2017 16:16

This is some 'slick' marketeer presuming everyone who shops in Poundland is a dumbass

PavlovianLunge · 21/12/2017 16:17

I doesn’t offend me, but I think it’s pretty bloody unpleasant; the initial impression is bad enough, but it gets worse the more you look at it.

greendale17 · 21/12/2017 16:19

I think its really skanky, chavvy humour.

Completely agree

Backingvocals · 21/12/2017 16:19

I would have assumed most Poundland customers are women? Just a guess given the domestic nature of what they sell.

Utterly shit.

LloydColeandtheCoconuts · 21/12/2017 16:21

Grim

now going to look up space docking. Wish me luck

Frequency · 21/12/2017 16:22

I wonder if their marketing team/whoever runs their social media is working their notice?

They've been making redundancies and closing shops of late.

LloydColeandtheCoconuts · 21/12/2017 16:23

Envy < not envy

Selassi · 21/12/2017 16:23

I don't get it someone explain

EB123 · 21/12/2017 16:24

I am not offended by it but it is pretty horrible and certainly doesn't make me want to go to poundland.

DesignedForLife · 21/12/2017 16:24

Grim.

Hope twinings sue them for brand misrepresentation.

Branleuse · 21/12/2017 16:25

its poundland quality humour

mummmy2017 · 21/12/2017 16:25

Kids see naught elf hitting doll with Teabag.
Teens see rude joke they don't think Parents understand.
Some adults actually see a woman being hit by a tea bag...
John see's a silly picture and moves on, be internet savvy like John and forget it.
No animals were hurt in this Poundland advert.

NotAgainYoda · 21/12/2017 16:26

Alongside this dross, their TV adverts are trying to appeal to a more discerning customer. Trying to cover all bases I suppose.

Beltane18 · 21/12/2017 16:26

I wonder what would have happened if they had a male doll lying on the floor

I suppose whatever person is going to come up with this doesn't actually admit to homosexuality even existing...

AccidentallyRunToWindsor · 21/12/2017 16:26

Nope...that post from mummy2017 has baffled me.

cherrycola2004 · 21/12/2017 16:28

Bit weird what's happening on their twitter account

XmasTreeOhXmasTree · 21/12/2017 16:29

I didn't laugh.

VerticalBlinds · 21/12/2017 16:29

I think it's lying on the ground as well, that's really uncomfortable. And the way she's just lying there.

Yes I still know they're dolls Grin

It's the way the elf is just doing something sexual to a prone motionless female, for an audience. Maybe they are trying to attract the football star crowd?

cherrycola2004 · 21/12/2017 16:30
Hmm

FizzyGreenWater · 21/12/2017 16:33

Oh right.

Yeah hysterical. Go Poundland Hmm

FizzyGreenWater · 21/12/2017 16:34

Maybe they were assuming that as they're Poundland, nobody would actually see their twitter account anyway?

Maudlinmaud · 21/12/2017 16:34

The others are just as bad. What where they thinking?

NeedsAsockamnesty · 21/12/2017 16:34

It doesn’t amuse me nor does it offend me

But How the actual fuck has anybody decided that a spice girls outfit is some kind of feminist statement?

ForagingForFaerieGold · 21/12/2017 16:35

I have reached my nadir. That moment when you realise you've been on this earth too long.
Humanity is a great disappointment to me. Time to try a new experiment.
