I really do not like them and yet where I live they have become very 'popular'.

I love original yellow fairy lights, no chaser, no flashing, no colours as such -no bright white.

Never mind, each to their own! X

DS2 who is police obsessed loves them. I'm not keen, we have warm white but I agree with Lucisky that lights are not as good as they used to be. There 1000 on my tree and I still feel there should be more. My parents used to have some coloured ones that were beautiful, there's nothing like that available now.

sinceyouask · 12/12/2017 09:45

I like them.

MorrisZapp · 12/12/2017 09:47

Had an argument with my brother about this. I said I hate any cold toned christmas lights. He said but that's the point, they're wintery.

WTF? How can we be related? He has literally no cosy gene. He sits under the big light and only decorates his tree when his kids pester him.

TricksyLiesmith · 12/12/2017 09:48

We had them one year outside our house and they were horrible . It was like having an ambulance parked up . We have nice warm white lights now which look so much more festive

spiderlight · 12/12/2017 09:59

I hate them. Our neighbours have blue and bright white flashing icicles all over the front of their house and they're just totally un-Christmassy. As others have said, it looks like there's an ambulance in the street. DS loves them and desperately wants some Xmas Hmm

nannybeach · 12/12/2017 10:00

Yellow fairy lights?? no white every time.

bilbodog · 12/12/2017 10:04

I hate blue lights with a passion but also any lights that flash - makes my brain ache. Ive always wondered if they affect people with photo sensitive epilepsy? In which case they should be banned, but havent heard anyone complain from that point of view.

BuckysRoboticArm · 12/12/2017 10:11

Cannot stand blue lights, they are an absolute eye sore. Yes they always make me think police/ambulance too!

Love warm yellow or white lights, and the coloured lights are very pretty too but can become garish if there's too many.

longtompot · 12/12/2017 10:22

I do not like the cold blue fairy lights at all. Give me lovely colours or warm whites any day.

Eolian · 12/12/2017 10:23

YANBU. I like pure white, warm white or multicoloured.

BeyondAssignation · 12/12/2017 10:32

Proper blue is okay, but blue-white hurts my eyes.

mirime · 12/12/2017 10:58

I don't like them, they make my eyes go funny. LED Christmas lights are also very cold looking. I like warmer looking lights.

No idea why they suddenly appeared everywhere, I can only assume they got cheaper? When they first invented they were relatively expensive compared to red and green LEDs. Once they had all three they could make white light and use them for screens and lightbulbs.

Roomba · 12/12/2017 11:01

I've decided I don't like blue Christmas lights. I put up a window net light display the other day which has blue lights (ex bought it years ago). I ended up taking it down again yesterday - my brain kept thinking the flashing lights were a police car or ambulance outside and it was leaving me feeling slightly panicked all the time they were on Grin

Flippetydip · 12/12/2017 11:04

Is this a thing? I have NEVER seen any at all.

I will now be paying special attention. Still we are in the West Country - we're often behind these little trends....

festivedinosaur · 12/12/2017 11:07

the one part of christmas i detest is the appearance of blue lights everywhere.

The whole point of the lights is to bring warmth and cosiness to an otherwise dark cold time of year.

If i was Prime Minister I would outlaw them as my first job

youarenotkiddingme · 12/12/2017 11:09

I HATE them.

Driving in the dark in these icy conditions constantly preparing to move out of the way of emergency vehicles - that just aren’t there!

2 days ago I could see blue lights flashing ahead / they were very bright and I slowed right down expecting to see carnage up ahead and a major RTC.

Made cars behind start being cunts and almost actually caused one

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 12/12/2017 11:09

I think blue flashing lights should be restricted to emergency service vehicles

Arealhumanbeing · 12/12/2017 11:10

YANBU.

They are absolutely bloody horrible.

He sits under the big light and only decorates his tree when his kids pester him.

Traumatising, frankly.

BackBoiler · 12/12/2017 11:16

Mine wee supposed to be blue but they are turquoise and look lovely. (To me) I do not put them on flashy mode until Christmas Eve - mainly because i cannot be bothered with DH insisting on synchronised flashing everytime we switch them on!

DenPerry · 12/12/2017 11:31

I like them as they look wintery but wouldn't want everyone to have them. I like seeing a mix when I'm being nosey around the neighbourhood Grin

KTDaly · 12/12/2017 11:39

I hate them too - not sure how blue is particularly festive! But then again I really only like warm white lights so I'm pretty boring!

BrizzleDrizzle · 12/12/2017 14:42

They are lovely, we have them on the outside of our house.

KittyLover91 · 12/12/2017 14:44

My work has put blue lights on the tree with red and gold decs Hmm

CoconutGal · 12/12/2017 14:46

DH put them up in our house this year & I have to admit, I'm not keen. I love the white ones we have on our tree & the lovely twinkle they give. The blue just makes the place look odd.
