I don't like the tree

Most years we go together as a family to pick the tree. This year DH suggested as we had a few things on and he had sometime off work he would get it himself.

I don't like it at all. It is slightly shorter but much much narrower than any tree we have ever had. When it was delivered my reaction wasn't great. I looked at it and said "it is very small"
DH is taking it very personally and was very upset with me which I was really surprised about. We have made up since but I still don't like the tree.

For context, I work part time and do 95% of the Christmas organising so I may be used to doing things a certain way.

I really still want to get another tree. AIBU

Im a bit gutted op that dd made me put up our rather atraggly dake tree on the 1st December when i wanted a big bushy reak one.

and she decorated it which i had to tweak

I get where you are coming from but grin and bear it.

Straggly fake tree even!

CanIBuffalo · 08/12/2017 06:19

I bet your DH got so arsey about being told it was too small because he had just got the first one he saw and it was shite.
He's being nice now because the guilt has set in. Smile
Definitely get another tree. You can never have too many.

Just had a laugh with DH about this thread as he went to get our tree while I was away last weekend.
It turns out that the tree he bought was the first one he looked at but on the bright side, it wasn't completely dark when he saw it.
Hmm. Not laughing now ....Hmm😭

Donate it to an old peoples home. And get another tree. Christmas comes but once a year and if you aren't happy with it You'll be apologising for its smallness all December to anyone who calls Grin I always have to have one that needs 4/5 inches cutting off the top to fit in the room or it looks tiny and piddly in my living room. I look forward to it all year so I'm not having a tree that looks like it should be sat on a table.

So I told DH I wanted to keep his tree. It actually is a lovely tree. Very even, lovely smell.

I was told to go get a new tree. A few of our neighbours had put up their trees during the day. We live in a terrace and they all have big trees in the front window and ours was way smaller. DH said he couldn't look at it every time he came in to the house.

So I took one of the kids with me and bought a new tree. It will be delivered later. I hope it looks good after all this.

DHs tree is in the family room where we usually put a fake one.

Your house is going to smell amazing; Xmas Grin and your DH deciding he comes up short next to the neighbours!

elQuintoConyo · 08/12/2017 20:58

So, your DH went for a Brazilian but you favour a more 70s vibe, OP?

My ex gf bought a black fibre optic tree a few years back. I hated it but I didn’t lose any sleep.

OpalTree · 08/12/2017 21:55

I can see why she's your ex Stig. Shock

flimflaminurjams · 08/12/2017 21:59

Oh good so now you can post a pic of your big tree on fb. Well done.

Wowsers. You really need to watch the Charlie Brown Christmas special.
