That Britain should rethink BREXIT

David Davis admitting that the impact of Brexit will be equal to the credit crunch should surely make the country revisit the decision.
Why put your country through such a difficult period?

It’s not all those so called experts that are suffering from mass immigration at the lower end of the working scale, I am 100% sure that if FOM was removed to a points based system we would still be in the EU

Humpsfor20yards · 06/12/2017 15:03

Of course brexitteers won't face up to what they did. [shrug]
It must be hard to live with.

Unless of course you are a right-wing racist who wants untethered capitalism in which case...

ShatnersWig · 06/12/2017 15:04

The biggest disgrace in this total mess of late has been Farage confirming he will still be taking his £73k per year pension as an MEP. Biggest hypocrite of the lot.

And all the while we are spending months and months focusing on this disaster rather than actual problems at home. Dread to think how much it's costing us to organise Brexit even before we actually leave and pay our dues for leaving.

Frequency · 06/12/2017 15:05

Migration has a positive effect on the economy. No-one is 'suffering' because of it.

Which of these prominent leave voting politicians are right wing racists?

Dennis Skinner, Gisela Stuart, Ian Davidson, Frank Field, Lord Owen, Graham Stringer, Kate Hoey, John Mann.

ByThePowerOfRa · 06/12/2017 15:06

@shatner

I saw that interview on Andrew Marr at the weekend. Farage came across like the despicable individual I’ve often suspected him to be. Even his fans surely couldn’t have thought well of him in that interview?

squoosh · 06/12/2017 15:07

Only deluded ostriches still think Brexit will be in any way beneficial to the country. To these people it's become an ideology. They're clinging on to the good ship Brexit despite all the evidence that it's one massive clusterfuck.

corythatwas · 06/12/2017 15:09

It's not the people at the higher end of the working scale who are going to be suffering if the economy takes a nose-dive either. Just saying.

user1486062886 · 06/12/2017 15:10

WallisofWindsor I will try to answer for you,
Talking to people most issues seamed to be about ,
FOM
Aspects of human rights
European court of justice
Mass immigration and all associated with that, schools, houses, work, wages, etc
People felt right or wrongly that The EU had changed from a trading platform to what it had become and they don’t vote for that back in the 70’s
EU overruling the U.K. and forcing things on them.
I don’t think the remain party helped by not explaining the good the EU does, but instead went down project fear.

squoosh · 06/12/2017 15:10

Kate Hoey's spiritual home is in UKIP so I vote for her as the racist from your list.

Hope this helps.

Theworldisfullofidiots · 06/12/2017 15:11

so called experts

And this is how we got here. As soon as you call some one 'so called'.

Btw areas with higher immigration tend to have better schools and better gcse results. And I get its difficult and if the government had spent some of the taxes raised by foreign workers on infrastructure (Or indeed made sensible decisions on infrastructure) then we would likely not be in this mess. Immigration is saving us from becoming a PIG country or Japan with a ticking time bomb of older people.

user1486062886 · 06/12/2017 15:13

Frequency, I am sorry but you are wrong, it just depends which end of the scale you are in and where you live.
Good for some people
Bad for others

Frequency · 06/12/2017 15:14

Isn't it time we changed 'project fear' to 'project bleak reality'?

Though I do agree, more focus should have been placed on the benefits of the EU. A bit of evidence wouldn't have gone amiss either but that would've meant admitting that they're to blame for the state of education and the NHS and not those pesky brown people.

It's a bit late now though, isn't it? We now need to focus on fixing this mess because it is a mess.

SilverySurfer · 06/12/2017 15:15

This is like an exact duplicate of all the Brexit threads that have gone before. No need to start a new thread, just copy and paste.

Before you rush to tell me, yes I know you can post what you want, where you want but you may not realise that there is a dedicated EU Referendum Board chock-a-block with moany whiny Remainers spewing the same sort of rubbish over and over, ad infinitum, ad nauseam - you should feel right at home there.

Humpsfor20yards · 06/12/2017 15:17

Aww you are on the same side as farage, Putin, trump, rees might, give, lying johnson, incompetent Davis AND Gisela Stuart and Kate Hoey. Grin
that makes it all right then.

Poor you.

squoosh · 06/12/2017 15:17

Ah another ostrich who gets irritated by the truth...

WallisofWindsor · 06/12/2017 15:17

Thank you user
I totally understand.

Who is it bad for?

Crackednips · 06/12/2017 15:19

RubMyRhubarb well said..."Rethink" is an absurd suggestion..

Had the Cameron gov't actually prepared for the possible scenario of Brexit we would have been in a much better starting position. Unfortunately, the arrogance of the establishment, the remain camp and the assumption that a remain win was inevitable, has left us on the back foot.

squoosh · 06/12/2017 15:19

Dullards who whine (and whine) that people are creating Brexit threads outside of the Eu Ref board really the most tedious people.

WallisofWindsor · 06/12/2017 15:22

SilverySurfer I'm neither a leaver nor remainer as you like to describe them. (Thank the good Lord).
Please read through my questions again before you start labelling.

makeourfuture · 06/12/2017 15:24

Well we are finding out a lot of new things today aren't we? They need to be discussed.

Apparently there have been a few non-truths told.

PossumBottom · 06/12/2017 15:25

Yes we need another referendum. When we know what the deal is. Assuming May et al can negotiate one.

venusandmars · 06/12/2017 15:25

When there was the prospect of Scottish Independence there was work done across EVERY government department about the legislation required and drafting of plans.

Of course it wasn't perfect or complete (and thank god it didn't happen) but there is nothing on a similar scale happening in relation to Brexit. We are hopelessly unprepared.
